I've shopped for years at LLBean and will continue to do so. I had the Adventure rolling duffle which has been fantastic but wanted something with a handle and liked the looks of this one. During an overseas trip the bag sat on the luggage cart in the rain before being loaded. The water soaked through to my clothes and gear. Never had this experience with the Adventure duffle. Plus, softer sides of the Sunwashed style seem to attract dirt and stains. While pushing it into place in the back of the SUV, heard some plastic cracking from one of the corners. In time, I will replace this with another Adventure duffle.

With the current pain of air travel I try to drive anywhere I can. My most recent trip was to St. Thomas however and pretty much had to utilize air travel. Guess I could have paddled but customs and the Coast Guard would have been just one more line to stand in..
Anyhow, this was my main bag. As a photographer I maxed out my carryon limits with camera gear.
The bag made the trip in fine shape and held more than enough stuff for the two week trip.
I do use the packing "cubes" mostly for convince when I get there but they also serve to keep items from shifting as much and thus, reduces the bag's tendency to roll when climbing curbs and turning tight corners at high speeds.
No, it doesn't support itself in the upright position but I'm usually able to find a wall, post or security agent to lean it against.
After you have it packed full, fastened the 2 compression straps and upend it your stuff goes to the bottom. Wow! Look at all the room you have left for more "stuff".

Rated 5 out of 5 by LVinWC Duh! It's a duffle bag.
It is exactly what is says it is. It's not a suitcase; it's a duffle bag.
Yes, it is one cavernous space. That's a duffle bag. No interior pockets, no interior straps. Again, it's a duffle bag. Doesn't stand up by itself. Right. Because it has no interior support, because it's a duffle bag.
There are several one-star reviews here that were written by "reviewers" bought duffle bags and reviewed suitcases. That is not the fault of the bag.
It is stylish. It is made of really nice material. Zipper and strap hardware is top notch. And yes, Virginia, it's a duffle bag.

Bought the large size for a semester abroad to carry lots of stuff-which it did. However the airline somehow ripped a hole in it. Thankfully it did not get any bigger during all my travels and LLBean refunded my money when I got back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by lucylovestotravel Problem with dimensions
This is one of my favorite pieces of luggage. The problem is that it's dimensions exceed the 62 inch limitation for many of the carriers. I have resorted to paying for two bags rather than pay the outrageous fee changed for an oversized piece of luggage.I am going to Panama and the second bag will cost me $30.00 and an oversized bag will fun me $200.00. I would travel light but I have to bring research supplies and big forester boots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LKJohnshop Durable Duffle
I've gone through my share of duffle bags and this one is by far the best one I've ever owned. It's made of high quality material which is very durable for traveling and airport handling, and it's large enough to hold all of my stuff for an extended trip. All in all it's a great duffle bag.

Rated 1 out of 5 by ebgodard Not so good.
I bought the bag for an extended trip and I guess I am in the minority on this. I was very disappointed. One large cavernous space. No interior zippered pockets. No interior straps to keep items from shifting. No matter how much i put in the bag, it all slid to the bottom. The bag would not stand up on its own. If the bag is full the handle doesn't always work due to the weight of the clothing. I had to pack everything in smaller bags to try and keep items from shifting. Everything was wrinkled and a mess. Would return but I had it mongrammed.

Great bag! I have been using it for a couple of years for camping, air, car trips. I throw stuff in and go, towing it around easily. There is lots of room. The canvas has been a tough fabric. I carry a big compostable plastic bag in case I need some waterproofing in winter. If we are thoughtful, wife and I can share the bag on a short trip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by lmsuggs I'm buying another one!
I just got back from a mission trip to Guatemala, using my x-large rolling duffle for the seond time. With luggage weight so critical now, this duffle it fantastic! It will hold anything and everything and buckle down to a smaller size if necessary. Brushes clean; rolls on cobblestone streets in Antigua. My husband and I "fought" over who got to use it--hence another purchase. You can't go wrong!
