This is the best luggage set I've owned to date. I flew down to Arizona for a week and and got mine and my 2 year old daughter's clothes in just the one smaller bag. It fit in the overhead bin so we didn't have to check any luggage. I've since lent the set to 3 of my older kids for trips around the world. Once you use a lightweight set like this you can't go back to bulky, heavy, awkward luggage. You can over pack and still zip it up, the duffle handles make it easy to pick up and maneuver. I love the wheels and easy handle. I can zip around the airport while everyone else is standing around waiting for their bulky checked luggage. I have had two back surgeries and having lightweight luggage is really appreciated.

Rated 5 out of 5 by coolgirl9 great carryon luggage ever
It is amazing how much you can load staff to the 22x14x10 carry on, we will go to Europe for 16 days, the carry on can load 14 days of clothes and 3 pairs of light shoes. My daughter and I will only use this carryon and small backpack. I would highly recommend this carry on, I bought 3 of them

I purchased one of these in 1999 for traveling for work and weekend get a ways. I've used it hard for 15 years. Its time for a replacement now as the main zipper and the front pocket zipper have worn out. Other than that the case itself is in great condition.
Love this bag. Plus often get compliments on it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by ProbablyBeenThere Afraid to check it
I've been an enthusiastic user of LL Bean duffles for many years, and in most respects this has been the best of all. As advertised, it's extremely easy to load, it stands upright unless the load is unbalanced, and the handle/roller system is excellent. Capacity is very good, but that may contribute to an issue (see below). It is not like every other bag, so it's easy to spot on a carrousel.
As others have observed, this duffle is wider than other luggage, so there's a slight learning curve in maneuvering it, and indeed you cannot stack another bag on it to free up a hand.
On balance, this is still my favorite big bag ever except that...
in five trips as checked luggage this duffle has arrived damaged twice. In both cases, the bag was full, but not overloaded, weighing in at under 40 pounds.
One time, the internal stitching failed, and what appeared on the carrousel was a floppy bag too unbalanced to roll, and definitely not ready to be checked again. On the up side, the contents were fine and Beans replaced the bag. I've been careful to be sure to secure the internal straps when using the replacement, just in case that contributes to bag integrity.
On our most recent trip, the fabric and foam padding on one edge was breached. Contents were OK this time too, and a local shoe shop has repaired the bag at little cost. That could have happened to almost any luggage, but the bottom and edge material of this duffle is not as sturdy as the rest of the bag and does not compare well with my conventional LL Bean duffles.
I'm thinking that the unconventional dimensions that make this duffle so easy to pack and unpack might make it less than a favorite for baggage handlers. I'll keep using it for car travel, but am on the lookout for a sturdier solution for flying.

Rated 2 out of 5 by maineshopgirl Has some design flaws
We loved this set when we first got it and were impressed with how much the luggage holds. The disappointment came when we had it fully packed and ready to go to the airport. When fully loaded, the rolling bags don't stand up without tipping forward. Also, the tops of the rolling bags are drastically sloped forward so you can't stack a smaller bag on top (leaning against handles). Lastly, with so many straps, airline folks and porters are prone to lifting it up by one of the compression straps vs. the handles. Over time, there's concern this will cause damage.
After using these bags for two trips, we returned it because of the tipping problem and sloped top. In our opinion, they're very frustrating flaws that we're not willing to live with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by carryongirl perfect carryon
Just took this as a carry-on bag for a 9 flight 2 week odyssey which included Machu Picchu in Peru and the Galapagos in Ecuador. So very light at 6.5 pounds. Compression straps inside and out permit good packing. Very compact. Flattens down when empty which saves space. Excellent wheels and telescoping handle. A real buy - go for it!

I've just received this Quickload Upright Rolling Duffle, Ex-Large. Perfect size for me. I like the extra straps and I love feeling the quality that comes with everything I've bought from LLBean!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by NeedWarmPjs Bad design. Proportions are all wrong.
2 Major problems with this bag.
1) The proportions are all wrong.
Its too WIDE on the sides when have anything in the side pockets. It wont roll down the aisle on the plane when have anything in side pockets. You are suppose to put shoes in one side pocket and it definitley wont go down aisle with those in there.
AND its not wide enough on the top of the bag to be able to sit anything on top of the bag. I often like to set a bag on top but it wont hold any bag on top since its extremely narrow on top.
2) I really dislike the straps on this bag. You need to completley open them to to get to inside of the bag AND most importantly if you check it they most likely will get caught in the conveyer belt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bobrich 6 years and still going strong
I have had my set for 6 years. I travel often. The bags have been everywhere.....planes, trains, boats, cars, etc. They have been on the street in all kinds of weather. They are sturdy and light weight. I am amazed at how much stuff I can get into the bags. The bags still look great. My only suggestion would be to make the fabric cover for the zipper a bit looser so that it doesn't catch in the zipper. Everyone in my family now owns at least one bag. We all got different colors.

I love this luggage. I both 3 -red,black,navy-for my 3 oldest kids on their first trip to Europe. They were able to fit everything for a 10 day trip, minus toiletries and hiking shoes, in their luggage. We checked the toiletries through on the plane. I bought an expensive, high end brand of luggage for myself and I never use it! I borrow from one of the kids! My 2 favorite parts are that it it always stands on end without falling over and the design fits an amazing amount for the size-I love the shoe pocket! Great luggage....at a fair price.....so far many trips and not a sign of wear!
