Rated 5 out of 5 by averyloyalcustomer Simply The Best...
I've been a L.L. Bean customer since 1971...my friends and family expect any clothing I wear to be from my favorite store in Freeport , Maine. My friends and family know I still do my due diligence when making an outerwear purchase...I have researched a number of rain jackets, including several Gore-Tex products...trust me when I say the Trail Model Rain Jacket is simply the best...the fleece lining is a bonus...the Jacket is warm, keeps me dry in Michigan weather and the Deep Loden color says I'm a Michigan State Spartan! GO GREEN!

I find LL Beane merchandise to generally be of high quality. However, I have found their tall sizes are not tall enough. (I don't know why I keep trying.) I am 6'5" and weigh 185 lbs with an athletic body. The sleeves on this tall-size garment are too short and it's not long engough. Also, Bean seems to think if you need a tall size that you are big. As a result, their talls shirts and jackets are balloon-like.

I had high hopes for this jacket based on the temperature rating, windproof claim, and fit.
None of these claims were met in my opinion. I've worn it twice in 25-30 degree weather with two layers of clothing underneath, and had to cut my walk short as the wind and cold easily penetrated the jacket. Winds were 10-15 mph both evenings.
As to fit, the soft lining catches any long sleeve shirt worn underneath, making it very difficult to put on and get adjusted.
Very disappointed in this purchase and will be returning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MikeToronto Jacket appears to meet or exceed my expectations
I ordered this jacket to replace a similar garment that was wearing out. Was nervous about ordering clothing cross-border online, but I haven't seen a comparable item here in Toronto. However, when the jacket arrived, it appeared to be exactly what I wanted and expected from the online photos, description and reviews. It also fits well. I like the way the hood wraps snugly around my head and neck, keeping out the elements. Good placement of cinches and hook-and-loop fasteners. Shipping was very fast for a cross-border order. This is about all I can say about the jacket just now, as I haven't had a chance to wear it outside due to the colder weather we're now having.

The fleece on this rain jacket makes it nearly impossible to wear a long sleeve shirt under this jacket. It's impossible to get your arms into the sleeves because of the fleece. Only wear a short sleeve shirt with this jacket. Wet hands are just as bad. It would have been better with a taffeta lining.

I love this jacket. It will protect the head and upper body in the wind and rain. It is light but warm enough for spring and fall in the mid Atlantic region. I purchased a small and it's perfect for me at 65 inches and 125 lbs.

Jacket is comfortable and light to wear. My dog wants his daily 1/2 hour walk...come rain or shine. I've come home many days dripping water with my old windbreaker. This kept me dry and the hood was a great help too. I'm very satisified and would recommend this windbreaker to any one.

This lightweight rain jacket was just what I needed. Available in the right color , black. Purchased a xxlt and it could be a little longer at the waist. It's nice with a good lining , however it is still on the expensive side for such a everyday no frills rain jacket with a hood and zipper pockets. No problems with the order and received in just a few days.

Wonderful light weight jacket; great for cold damp weather. I wear this jacket when I'm uncertain of what the weather will do that day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by pg781 Warm, waterproof, and packs easily
I recently spent a few weeks traveling around Europe in countries that were experiencing extremely varied weather; the temperature ranged from 25 to 75 degrees during my trip. I needed a jacket that would keep me warm on cold days and fit into my backpack on warmer days. This was perfect for my needs. I found that the jacket was roughly as warm as my (much bulkier) winter coat when paired with a light sweater, and it offered good protection against wind and rain. When not in use, it easily rolled into a ball or served as non-bulky padding for some fragile items in my luggage; either way, it didn't take up much space at all in my 40 liter pack.
Because the jacket's sleeves are fleece lined, it's a bit tricky to take off if you're also wearing long sleeves underneath (especially when sitting in an airplane seat), but the additional warmth is worth the extra few seconds of fidgeting required. Overall, I'd highly recommend this jacket for travelers or hikers who like to pack light.
