I got this to replace the Bigelow Primaloft jacket, whose fit in the arms was ludicrously restrictive. This regular Primaloft (in Tall L) fits much better--a bit longer than I need, but plenty of room to layer underneath.
I'm very grateful to Bean for continuing to offer Tall as an option, even if their sizing has gotten so irregular that it's hard to know whether to get it or not. I'm also grateful for the Napoleon pocket which this and many of their other garments feature. I'd love to have an internal pocket or two also, even if that compromised the "ultralight" status.
It's been too warm to give this jacket a thorough testing, but so far it doesn't seem as toasty as the ten-year-old Primaloft jacket I'm replacing. Primaloft is an amazing insulator, but there's something to be said for thickness for its own sake, and this jacket is SO thin, it feels more like wearing a sheet of Tyvek than a real coat. The collar in particular doesn't feel cozy at all. I do appreciate the elastic in the cuffs and cinch cord at the waist, which will be invaluable in windy conditions. Though the shell is on the thin side, it does repel water (and wind) as well as any jacket I've used.
The jacket is advertised as lighter, more packable, and warmer than fleece, which is no doubt true, but to me Primaloft is meant to be a down substitute in wet weather, and by that standard it's less impressive. I got mine on markdown, but at full price it's almost as expensive as down. I haven't tried Bean's much vaunted "waterproof" DownTek, but it seems like we're moving toward a point where that's the only option for a serious stand-alone jacket. To me that's a shame, because my old Primaloft kept me warm through snow, rain, and wind in wilderness conditions for a fraction of the cost, complicated care, or hydrophobia of down.

Very functional. Exactly as advertised. I tried this on at the store in Leawood Kansas and it was exactly what I was looking for. Nice enough to be worn by itself or can be worn on the outside of layers or on the inside of a jacket. I used it first in San Francisco with a cool breeze coming off of the bay and later with a light jacket for a colder evening. Two weeks later, I used it with layers of a long sleeve cotton T-shirt and a camo hoodie on the outside. We were turkey hunting in the Ozarks on a 34F morning. Very warm and comfortable with lots of room to move. If you can't try it on first, I would recommend getting a size larger than you normally wear.

Rated 3 out of 5áby camelback I wanted to like this jacket...
I followed the reviews and ordered an M instead of S, the red color that was on sale for $99. It is too large for me. Now the S is gone. As others mentioned, this is not athletic fit. If you don't have a belly, then the bottom half of the jacket is dancing around your body and if you use those elastic things at the bottom then you get the garbage bag fit. I know it's not good to have too many sku's but LL Bean should make the effort to have one in athletic fit and one in regular fit. 5 10 155lbs and I am afraid that even S will be too large around the waist.
I like the design, not the fit. Suede-like material at the neck would have been nicer.

Rated 5 out of 5áby sweetb53 warm, light jacket with a flattering fit!
i have purchased two of these jackets this year. one for my husband, and one for my daughter. they are taking a father-daughter trip to peru in june, and needed a warm jacket that would not take up too much room in their suitcases. the jackets are light weight, but very warm. the fit is perfect for both of them- sits fairly close to the body, but there is room for a light layer underneath the jacket. also, this jacket is flattering- it does not look bulky at all. i hope that i will be able to buy one for myself this fall.

Perfect for layering. I walk a mile to work every day in windy Boston, and a sweater and this jacket does it for anything above 25 degrees. The chest pocket holds a cell phone and specs, and the waist pockets are deep enough that gloves don't fall out. The fit is generous without being baggy, with good room in the shoulders and waist so it's never constricting. I'm 5' 10" and 180 pounds, and I paid attention to other reviews and bought a size large, tall, so the jacket would fall at my hips as opposed to my waist. If you're going to use this as an outer layer I'd suggest you do the same to keep the wind off your back. Very, very high quality jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5áby BrooklynNY Versatile and nice looking
Overall, I recommend this jacket due to its versatility and good looks. I would wear this alone in 40+ degrees Fahrenheit or as a mid layer, due to its light weight and thinness It is very, very thin, and it weighs only at around 13 ounces in a large. It also has a wind flap behind the front center zipper and it has cinch cords at that bottom to help prevent the wind from entering and the warmth from escaping.
Personally, I wish that the back of the primaloft packaway jacket was somewhat longer than the front. Also, for me, the collar should be higher and a little snugger.

Rated 3 out of 5áby MplsBean Lovely but too fitted
I love the styling and quality of this jacket, but the overall sizing is too fitted (i.e., too small), and I have to return it. I'm not completely sure, but it seems that Bean is sizing down on its items now, and reliable sizes that would always fit now no longer do, which is disappointing. For comparison purposes, another Bean PrimaLoft jacket I bought 5 years ago in a different style fits better in a smaller size than this one.

Over the years, large tall has been my go-to size on outerwear and other garments that I have purchased from LLB. I am 6'2" 220# with a 35" sleeve and the LLB LT seems to fit me perfectly -- until now. Unfortunately, this jacket was restrictive across the shoulders and as another reviewer commented, the arm holes were too tight. Under the circumstance I will return but was otherwise satisfied with quality.

I got this jacket a year ago. 5'10" 205lb athletic build and a large tall fits great, typically I wear regular but regular seemed too short so returned for tall. Blocks wind decently, can wear inside with no activity with long sleeve shirt underneath at up to 60 degrees, then can go outside to walk the dog comfortably at 30 degrees. Great jacket, light as a feather, packs down to nothing and easy to take with you just in case it's needed.

It is light and compresses so that it fits easily into a shoulder bag or daypack. For walking around town under a leather jacket it keeps you toasty in the 20s.
I'm 6' 3" and the tall size is sufficiently long.
