Rated 5 out of 5áby Hiker1011983 Very lightweight and warm!!
I love this jacket!! It's hard to believe how warm this jacket is and how light and airy it feels when wearing it. It's my go-to jacket in late fall and early spring. I also take it hiking because it packs nice and tight and weighs almost nothing.

Rated 5 out of 5 Excellent product
My daughter gave me one of these jackets, and I've used it as a base layer under my Arctic Parka while hunting in Saskatchawan. I've been out in -35 degree weather and this has given me great support as a base. I wish I were able to get a pair of pants from the same.

Rated 5 out of 5áby RKC5 It is warm if you dress properly
This is a very warm light jacket. I wear this all the time with just at t-shirt and jeans in 30-40 degree weather. This jacket is rated to -15 F. And I believe it, based on how they tested it. There's a link (video) next to the temperature rating that lists what the base layers are + the jacket. I think most people are incorrectly assuming it will go to -15 but not wearing enough under it. LL Bean assumes the following:
Thermal underwear (whole body), Fleece long sleeve shirt, fleece hat, jeans, gloves and boots. Let's be honest...that's pretty warm already without the jacket. I personally could stand 30-40 degrees with just that.
But that's how they test all their outerwear. I guess they could have used nothing but a t-shirt and jeans for their ratings but I think they are being realistic. If it's cold and you're looking for a warm jacket I think most people will having a layer or two or three on. Also remember you lose a lot heat from your extremities and your head so again, I'm wondering if the people who thought this jacket wasn't warm had a hat, gloves, and decent shoes.
Finally for the fit. I'm male, 5'6" and around 155 lbs (athletic build) and I got a small and it fits well. Sleeves are just a little long.
I find it very comfortable but I do agree that since it's packable, they outer shell is probably not that durable and probably can't stand up much abuse. I knew that going in so that isn't an issue for me. This the jacket I take when I want to travel light or just have the car packed up in an emergency.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Beezeus Awesome Light Jacket
I got this jacket to replace a worn out field jacket liner. They were becoming hard to find in the model I was used to so I had to move on. I live in a drafty old house and this jacket does exactly what I wanted, take the chill off so I don't have to use a heater. I love how light it is and at 6'2" 215lbs XL Tall fits me like a glove. I bought a second one when I found out how much I liked it so I wouldn't have to go without when it was being washed. Good with a t-shirt walking the dogs to about 45-50. I use it under a waterproof jacket as I would my old style field jacket liner for temps below 30, it works even better because it is windproof. It would not be enough jacket by itself in temperatures below 30 unless you were exercising heavily. Great upgrade for my old liner I love it.

Rated 2 out of 5áby trendbucker It's like wearing the liner out of a coat
I'm sorry I cannot recommend this jacket. I'll give it one star for being lightweight and one for being packable. But those are the only positive things I can say about it. The fit is very tight, compared to other Bean products I own. Arm movement is restricted. The material is very stiff and, to me, uncomfortable. It's reasonably warm, but there's no way it's good down to the advertised temperature. Perhaps this would work as a layering piece, but this will have to be on the inside, as there's definitely no room for anything like a sweater under this. In fact, that's what this feels like to me: the liner out of a jacket. I hate to say it, but I'm just not pleased with this at all.

Maybe I should have given this jacket 2 stars.
Fit is good and I chose this jacket for looks and functionality as described on the site. I am female, 5'5", 140lbs, athletic build. I got the men's regular/small and the fit is perfect.
The other good point is LLBean customer service. They've been helpful.
OK, so there are two stars.
However, this jacket gets 1 star because it's supposed to be good to -15F. No way.
With 3 technical layers under and 1 windproof and waterproof shell over, It's not even warm at 30F.
Jacket's going back.

Rated 5 out of 5áby billydee I love this jacket!
Finally found what I consider a perfect lightweight jacket for me, in fact I'm buying a second one now.
I live in SW Colorado where it get's cold but not the East Coast biting cold and this jacket does what I need. Of course there will be times when I'll need a parka but for day to day wear around town and to work this is the one.
Fit's like a glove, super light and much warmer than I thought it would be. I'll probably also use it for spring skiing with a base and mid-layer underneath.
Thanks LL Bean, you nailed it this time!

Rated 2 out of 5áby DanJB Its not warm enough to be rated as "warmer"
Its a nice light, jacket, but it should not be rated as "warmer". The shell does nothing to prevent heat evaporation. For how we intended to use it, this is not a good jacket.
It might make a nice liner for another coat, but its not warm enough to be a cold weather coat on its own.

Rated 4 out of 5áby Badhair Nice Light Jacket
I read reviews of this jacket and I have come to 2 conclusions. If you like the cold weather this jacket will keep you warm. If you are like me and not fond of cold weather this jacket will not keep you warm at 30 degrees as stated. That being said, it is nice and light. I am 6'4" 205 and I got the large tall. It fits great and is very comfortable. I will always have a another layer on when outside for extended periods but that is still better than my bigger bulkier jacket.

áby JerryEinNaplesFL Just What I Was Looking For
I waited to buy this until I could try it on in a store (which I did last week in New Jersey). I'm glad that I did as I ended up purchasing a bigger size (XL) than I normally get (Large) so I would have the extra room for layering clothing underneath it if necessary. As it rolls up into it's own left pocket, it's already pretty compact, but I stuffed it into a 7" x 10" waterproof bag to make it even smaller to fit into my carry-on luggage. It was warm enough for the 50 degree weather in NJ and I may have the opportunity to test the -15 degree claim when I travel to Portland, OR in January.
