Rated 4 out of 5 by Rhubarb737 Really nice
I purchased this jacket on a daily markdown so I got quite a good deal and wasn't as worried about the Velcro issue I saw come up in a number of reviews on that basis. I haven't really put the jacket to the test yet, but on first inspection and try-on it is a beautiful looking jacket that seems warm and well made. I love it. It runs slightly big as I always wear XS and it is a bit generous in the body, but I will keep this size to allow for layering. As well, the sleeves are indeed slightly long, but not too bad and adds warmth and you can tighten the Velcro to accommodate it. I got the light turquoise with darker arms and it is a lovely colour. As of now, I'm very happy with the jacket, but am worried that I will eventually experience the Velcro issue everyone is having in the reviews, but I hope either with maybe dry cleaning that I might prevent it or if it does occur, given the good price I got it for, I might be able to have better Velcro straps installed.

by 8120 Nice jacket but small problem
Me and my wife we both have pair of this soft shell jacket. Nice and comfortable, warm and cozy but we have a little issues. The problem we have and we have it on both jackets its the Velcro part on the sleeves its pealing from the rubberized material after the first time they get washed or wet. We did replacement once and the same problem its present. Looks ugly

Rated 3 out of 5 by Tupper Nice looking jacket but not windproof
I got this jacket last December to wear with warm layers underneath in cold weather. I expected it to be windproof and give me a good thermal layer. I am disappointed that the jacket is not more windproof. I can only wear it in late spring or early fall. Have thought of returning it. Is it too late?

Rated 5 out of 5 by besteverjkt love everything about it
I just got this soft shell jacket and I'm in love with it. It fits really well, got the XL, and think the color is beautiful, 2 tone blue. The fabric is soft and the fleece on the inside feels good next to the skin. LL Bean always offers such nice extra features, ample pockets, drawcord at hem, and adjustible velcro on sleeves, for length. Would highly recommend this jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Mainerwithkids Great jacket but...
Love the jacket! I bought one in the kids sizes for my 5 year old daugher. Loved hers so much, including the fuzzy inside, that I bought the adult one for me. Bought a 2x and it was a bit small, but I do like my clothing to be less fitted, so I exchanged for another size. Was wearing it for 6 months but the black faux suede on the velcro on the end of the sleeves started peeling off. Not a big deal until I washed again after a camping trip. It had peeled off completely. Sadly I returned the jacket. Apparently there is a recall of sorts on it because of that. Now waiting for another version to come out. I hope it has the fuzzy inside instead of the waffle fleece :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by Brunat Perfect spring jacket
I found this jacket to fit perfectly, the plus size fits true to size. The sleeve length is perfect for me (I'm 5'7) and I quite like the glare at the hips, it makes the jacket look more fitted. I was worried this would be too warm, but it's nice and light, breathes very well and blocks out the wind. Super comfortable and looks great too. I bought the teal and I'd love to buy more colors.

Rated 1 out of 5 by mapcollector Does let the wind in
Specs say 'won't let the wind in' but it does. There was a cool breezy the fist day I wore it and I could instantly feel the wind coming thru the jacket. To further test the wind resistance I took my LL Bean wind challenger fleece (which I love) and this Pathfinder jacket, put one hand inside both, and turned up my car's dash vent fan up and held by hands side by side in front of the vent. No wind came thru the fleece yet it was very evident air was coming thru the Pathfinder. For PRO's.. this jacket does look nice, and it is quiet to wear (I dislike jackets that go swish swish all the time your wearing them) and the nylon outer shell repels lint and dog hair nicely (unlike a fleece). The sleeves are on the long side WHICH I LIKE because my arms are long and sleeve are too short on most every other jacket. It is a bit on the snug side across the shoulder/chest area but not awful - and the description says best with lightweight layer - which is all there is room for unless your narrow shouldered and somewhat flat chested. I really like the looks and quality of this jacket but one of the big reasons I bought it is for the wind restistance - so it is going back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ournana Love the jacket, sleeves rediculously long
I was so excited when the Pathfinder Soft Shell Jacket arrived. Gorgeous colour (dark Fuchsia), but when I tried it on the sleeves were so unbelievably long, covered my hands completely. With the velcro tabs around the end of the sleeves pulled tight it feels bulky. Even though I am 5' 6" tall I will take it back and order a petit size.
Does LLBean do tailoring, like shortening the sleeves? If so is there a charge?

Rated 5 out of 5 by Presocia I couldn't ask for a better jacket!
I've worn this jacket now on four different hikes, and love it! It works well with light layers underneath, and does a nice job of blocking the wind while letting my body breathe. I especially appreciate the deep pockets and chest pocket for my phone.
I had my reservations about the fit when I ordered it, but have been pleasantly surprised. I have a 2X in Cascade blue/Light teal, and it could not fit me better. I have not experienced the tightness through the arms or shoulders that others have mentioned. It's tailored without feeling too bulky, and is long enough to provide some coverage in the back.

Rated 2 out of 5 by CaveatTalonWager Good quality but strange fit
After reading other reviews on this jacket, I was hesitant to order it. But I've had GREAT luck with LLBeans products in general over the years and I do trust their quality.
I ordered the Cool silver/ Mercury jacket in XL. I wanted to size it up so that heavier layers could be worn under it. Although the jacket did "fit" when it arrived, it was not flattering on me at all. No woman wants her can to look even bigger than it is and the proportions of this jacket made my shoulders look very narrow and my back end look...well...I'll just say that this was NOT a flattering fit. More room in the shoulders, and an inch or two longer in jacket length and maybe change how the jacket falls on the hips (the fabric kind of "flips" out all the way around at the bottom) and this jacket could be a real winner. The quality was very good.
The lighter gray part of the jacket is lighter than I expected. I have border collies that shed (black and white dogs) and the hair on this would be a nightmare. I expected the lighter gray to be a bit deeper. And the darker gray on this jacket was surprisingly purple. I thought that they had sent me the wrong color at first (there is a jacket that does have a purple on the top) but the package said cool gray/ Mercury on it, so I don't really know. If the fit had been perfect, I would have checked further on this.
I think LLBean is very close to having a winner here, but proportions need to be altered in order for them to arrive at this.
