Rated 4 out of 5áby 30yearsofBean very nice coat, but not as warm as advertised
I really like the coat but there is no way this coat would be warm enough to wear in -15 degree weather. I would like to see a warmer lining. I had the previous version of this coat and it was substantially heavier and warmer. But this coat looks nice and fits well (5'4", 130 and the petite small fits perfectly).

Rated 2 out of 5áby Kwick Keeps me dry, BUT...
Bought this item after looking everywhere for a WaterProof coat that is insulated and also long enough to Not let water drain onto my thighs like most Parkas do.
It does keep me dry but the liner Barely keeps me warm at 40 degrees F. The material feels Thin & Cheap (chintzy). I usually wear Medium in L.L.Bean clothing, but the Med. in this item was Too Tight in the hips and "Puffed Out" in the front giving me a Bigger Belly Look. I went up to a Large, but still it will only allow for a very thin sweater underneath. Last of all, Bad Pocket Design. There are No inside pockets at all. On the outside only 2 hip-level pockets and they have no zippers or proper flaps to keep out water.

Rated 3 out of 5áby AudreyK Too warm, too cold, dry, great hood
My city commute includes a 10-15 minute walk/wait at each end, and I was looking for a coat that would keep me dry and undisheleved in a New England rainstorm. I bought the mesh-lined version of this coat last spring and found it almost impossible to wear in any warm or humid weather (too hot underneath, and not really 'breathable.'. I thought the Primaloft version, with its rating of "warmer to -15 degrees" would be good for winter rains, but I wore it just now in 40 degree rain, over a light wool sweater, and found it didn't really warm enough for today. I have a feeling that if I bundled up underneath, the not-very-breathable fabric would leave me a little sweaty but somehow still cold. So it seems that for this part of the world there's a fairly narrow band of conditions in which these coats will work, and a lot of rainy Boston weather on either side. On the plus side, these coats do keep you dry, but you'll literally be dripping water (so just be prepared for that). What I love about these coats is the hood -- I have shoulder-length hair that gets frizzy in humidity, and the hood and high collar let me tuck my hair inside and keep it dry - I can even walk without an umbrella.

Rated 4 out of 5áby NewBrunswicker Nice colour and fabric
I just received this coat as an exchange for a previous H2Off waterproof whose waterproofing failed to last through one laundering (appropriate instructions were followed). Unfortunately, the pattern has changed since I bought the last coat and is now quite different. Although I like the style, I found it too tight to accommodate my wearing a sweater comfortably, as well as being snug in the hips. I had ordered a Medium Regular which I thought would fit my 5 ft. 4 inch 138 lb frame. I am returning it, to exchange it for a Petite Large which I hope will fit better. I like the design of the coat, as well as the fabric and the wine colour. I certainly enjoyed my previous raincoat which kept me nice and dry - until it was laundered and lost the magic (sigh!). I hope my exchange will live up to my expectations, and to its fairly substantial price tag! Fingers crossed!

Rated 1 out of 5áby MNL1 Overpriced and skimpy
Runs small in the torso and large and long in the sleeves. Too thin and insubstantial for cold weather and too tight to wear warm layers underneath. Surprising lack of quality and workmanship considering the price.

Rated 3 out of 5áby PatfromSequim Not the comfy fit of my last H2OFF 3/4 length
I have had a shorter version of this coat for a few years, and it has started to get a little worn looking after about 4 years, not bad, I've worn it a lot. Thought it was time for a new one in a slightly different color for a little variety. Unfortunately the coat is not nearly as comfortable as the jacket, though appeared to be very similarly styled. If anything the old 3/4 length is a little roomy, room for sweaters etc,, while still not looking like a sack, because of the detailing. It was not lined and the coat is lined. Without the lining it is a little more roomy, but still not as comfortable, so back it goes. Also the color looks more blue than I expected - vs the navy in the picture - not crazy about the color. Free shipping here, but not back.

Rated 1 out of 5áby E321 not nearly as nice as my old one
I finally decided to replace the older removable liner version of this coat that I have had for at least, I think, ten years. The only thing that that I liked about the new one was the primaloft liner. The cut of the new one was strange, too close fitting at the top and it belled out too much at the bottom. My old coat is relaxed in fit and has a straight line-perfect for wearing over skirt suits and sweaters. I especially did not like the cinch cord in the middle of the coat-very unflattering and I could feel it all of the time, as well as that the hood is not removable. I could live with the new stiffer (and noisier) coat material as I expect it will have better water resistance. Unfortunately, I am returning the coat. I have to say that lately my ordering from LL Bean has been either a hit or a miss, unlike in the past where I rarely returned anything that I ordered. The fit and sizing has become very unpredictable. I don't mind spending money for something that is good quality and will last but it has to fit well. My old coat will remain in use.

Rated 5 out of 5áby busybee16 Love this Coat!
I never write reviews but I love this coat so much I had too! I love how this coat offers the right amount of warmth on a chilly day yet can be worn comfortably on warmer days. It really keeps you dry and I love the adjustable hood. It is very stylish too. I just came back from a very wet and chilly weekend in Vermont and I was so glad I had this coat to keep me warm and dry. When I looked at myself in pictures I was very pleased at how it looked on me. Its my" go to" coat and worth every penny!!!

Please make this 3-in-1 so that the primaloft lining (with long sleeves) can be worn by itself -- it would be perfect!!!

Rated 5 out of 5áby lyinlyon Great, lighter weight, 3-season raincoat
I returned a waist-length Gortex rain coat with no lining in exchange for this coat and I'm so glad that I did. I've worn this coat about 10 times already, including in drizzle, downpour, and strong winds. It stands up to being waterproof and wind proof. My only complaint is that the lining (which does zip out) does not extend into the sleeves. This is great in terms of the arms having freedom of movement, but it does mean that my arms are chilly if I don't wear a sweater. The other con of not having the lining in the arms is that if you're in a downpour for an extended period, your arms will remain technically dry (i.e. no water is seeping in), but the material feels cold and slightly damp; it's not actually damp, but having the lining really keeps your torso from feeling the rain at all. Even though this coat has a lining through the body, it's light-weight and condenses down into a packable size. It's not a true "travel" coat that folds into nothing, but it's not bulky.
I'm 5'6" 130 lbs (size 6 in almost all brands outside of LL Bean) and usually I wear an XS in LL Bean sweaters and coats, but this coat runs slimmer in the hips so the Small is the perfect fit, particularly as I want to layer fleece and sweaters underneath it.
The colors pictured online appear drab and matte. In person the deep navy and deep wine are both very attractive and slightly more lively. Deep navy is more of a very dark blue; deep wine is less brownish and more merlot than what is pictured. In my opinion, the dark khaki color is unattractive in person (and I like a classic khaki) because it's a deeper, yellowish khaki, not a classic trench-coat khaki.
I also tried this coat on in the hip-length version and it fit the same and was very flattering, as this one is; however, for $10 more I think it's well worth the investment to have more coverage against inclement weather.
Also, this coat does have sturdy double zippers, which are a must for driving or walking about. There is also a zippered, inner pocket on the left side of the coat. Hand pockets on the outside of the coat do not close. I don't mind this because they do lie flat and I only use them to keep my hands warm, not to store anything.
While this coat is an investment, I think it's well made and it actually costs less than the short, unlined Gortex version I had that left my legs getting soaked. I really recommend this product.
