Rated 3 out of 5 by DrOzzy Functional, but has problems...
Has a variety of useful interior and exterior pockets.
Good wind resistance.
Slim fitting: difficult to wear a layer underneath.
Quality issues: Others have reported similar issues; the rubber has pulled off of the velcro wrist straps after only wearing it a few times. This is a bad sign for me. I would have given this a much higher rating had this not happened.
It does not have any insulation. Others have complained about this, but you really should not be expecting an insulated jacket as soft-shells are almost never insulated and meant to be worn while on the move when generating body heat.

This is a great looking jacket but it doesn't live up the the LL bean name. The Jacket is not warm in any sense and all the rubber is peeling from the velcro sleeve clasps. This will be returned for something warmer and better made. It is too bad because it is such a nice looking jacket.

by 8120 Nice jacket but small problem
Me and my wife we both have pair of this soft shell jacket. Nice and comfortable, warm and cozy but we have a little issues. The problem we have and we have it on both jackets its the Velcro part on the sleeves its pealing from the rubberized material after the first time they get washed or wet. We did replacement once and the same problem its present. Looks ugly.

I am 5'6", 145 lbs, slim-build, broad shoulders. The Pathfinder fits me perfectly when I wear t's underneath. I also found it comfortable over a thin hoodie and t-shirt.
I would agree with other reviewers when they say this isn't the jacket to wear over many/thick layers. However, that's not the function of the jacket. It's a thin softshell designed to block wind and mild/minimal precipitation.

Rated 2 out of 5 by MarcellusNYShopper Not what I expected
Jacket looks good but is not very warm. I'm a slim person and the jacket fits me too tight to go over any substantial undergarments (like a flannel shirt) so is not too useful for layering.

Purchased this jacket Janurary 2015 and very pleased with the high quality and workmanship from LL Bean. Have worn in different elements of weather such as snow, rain and sunny conditions and must say that it's the perfect jacket for running quick errands, being with friends or out at the park on a nice day! The adjustable wrist clips help keep out wind and you also have waist line straps on both sides that help this as well. I'm 6'2 and around 210lbs and wear a Large and it fits fine. The chest pocket also is a nice addition to put various items in when youre out and about - have receieved multiple comments about this product and look forward to keeping it in my wardrobe for years to come...thanks LL Bean!

Rated 1 out of 5 At a loss for words...
I was replacing 2 jackets from "Bean" that had sippers that would not zip. Otherwise the jackets were great!
I ordered this jacket specifically to layer with the Primaloft jacket, as I had done with my original jackets. Uh, no chance with the new ones...
They fit like cycling jerseys! I couldn't even get my arms in it without the oxford i had on riding up. Poor poor design...
I'm 6'5" & a former hockey player who stays in shape, but dang these are just way too tight in every aspect. Very disappointed!

Rated 2 out of 5 Change for the worse
I loved the last version of the pathfinder jacket but they've switched from a nylon material to a polyester jacket so it feels much less substantial. Hopefully these are onsale currently because they are killing off this model and going back to the old model.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Tekton Tight Sleeve Trade offs
I'm 6'4" 185lbs with an athletic build and found the sleeves long enough but too tight. All the inside seams were not sewn smooth, as they are in my Wind Challenger Fleece Jacket. I found that it was very difficult to get on over a normal oxford shirt....not to mention with a thin wool sweater. However, I'm no fan of the "cheap" elastane cuffs my Wind Challenger Fleece Jacket..... and hoped this garment would be an improvement ..... Wrong!!!
So I returned it and await a product with the best features of each, rather than trade offs. Am I asking too much?
