Rated 2 out of 5 by JimB4 Did Not Care For This Jacket - Sleeve Lining
The jacket is very constricting, it was the correct size, but the sleeves were way to tight, and the sleeve lining was not well suited to get your arms in and out, when wearing a regular long sleeve shirt underneath.
If the sleeve lining had a "slippery" material, I would have loved the jacket.

Rated 2 out of 5 by County57 Not warm, sleeve tabs separated
I can't say that I really care for this jacket, it is not the usual LL Bean quality. The sleeves are a little long and tight, causing the shirt sleeves to right up in the sleeves. I washed it one time and the velcro pull tabs on the sleeves separated, and it isn't as warm as their fleece jackets.

Rated 2 out of 5 by FourLeafClover Great jacket...until it's washed
I recently bought this jacket for my husband as a gift. He said he loved it and that it was comfortable, good for wearing just around town or going for cross country ski, etc. All was good until I washed it. This was its first wash. A normal wash, nothing out of the ordinary and then through the dryer.
It came out of the dryer covered...and I mean covered...in fleecy pills. We tried to clean it up with the roller brush and picking the pills off and my husband was about to wear it out today for a cross-country ski when he noticed the sleeves. The Velcro wrist flaps had completely come apart in both sleeves. Now it's definitely going back. I buy a LOT from LLB and love their stuff, just not this one:-(

It is a great looking jacket. Do not expect this to be warm below 50 degrees. It seems like it would be a much better jacket if it had a layer of polartec inside, rather than the poor mesh it has.
Do not expect any warmth from this jacket. In fact, it seems to amplify the cold...even if you are wearing a sweater or a layer of fleece underneath. I have never experienced a jacket that makes you colder until this jacket. I was actually warmer until I put the jacket on. It seems to amplify the cold. It is really unusual. Any breeze sucks any warmth from you.
I have worn this to several hockey games. It is warm for about twenty minutes...only if you have a layer underneath. If you wear a t-shirt underneath, there is immediate cold after 10 minutes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Wildcat98 Great Jacket
I held off buying this jacket for a long time due to some of the negative reviews. I looked at a lot of other soft shells from other well known brands, and most of them felt like putting on a cardboard box. I finally pulled the trigger on this jacket, and wish I had done it much sooner. The shell itself is soft, quiet, comfortable, and stretches to move with you. Every other piece of Bean outerwear that I own is an XL, so I ordered this in XL as well. The fit is perfect, and is consistent with the other Bean pieces I already own. There is room to layer underneath, but the fit isn't boxy to prevent wearing a hard shell over the top when the weather is really bad. This jacket will be a versatile addition that I'll reach for often.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Minthillfarm Not sized properly
I got an XL so I could put some layers underneath for winter. Usually that size works great from LL Bean, with plenty of room... I tried this jacket on over very thin layers (t-shirts) and there is hardly any room :(. It is a slim fit...Definitely not a jacket to buy for layering purposes...sleeves are fleece too so it makes it hard to slide over even the t-shirts. Sleeves are very long, but body of jacket is small in comparison..However, I will keep it, as I purchased on sale. To be worn in 50 degree weather over a shirt only...

This jacket is very nice. Bought the XL Tall to fit over another fleece. Ordered the Cayenne which is reddish orange to wear hiking during hunting season or else i would not have bought this color to wear out of the woods. Great LLBean quality as usual.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mobetter Beautiful bright red and perfect fit!
I purchased the bright red jacket for my son's birthday. He is a weight lifter but I wanted it fitted not bulky. I ordered the tall as he has a longer torso. This coat fitted his broad shoulders nicely and cut to his waist quickly. It is a very good constructed jacket and will be a nice go to coat for his workouts at the gym in the winter. He is a former Marine and likes his clothes cut and tight! Thank you LL Bean!

Rated 3 out of 5 by DrOzzy Functional, but has problems...
Has a variety of useful interior and exterior pockets.
Good wind resistance.
Slim fitting: difficult to wear a layer underneath.
Quality issues: Others have reported similar issues; the rubber has pulled off of the velcro wrist straps after only wearing it a few times. This is a bad sign for me. I would have given this a much higher rating had this not happened.
It does not have any insulation. Others have complained about this, but you really should not be expecting an insulated jacket as soft-shells are almost never insulated and meant to be worn while on the move when generating body heat.

Rated 3 out of 5 by GoneChuting Looks nice but that's it
This is a great looking jacket but it doesn't live up the the LL bean name. The Jacket is not warm in any sense and all the rubber is peeling from the velcro sleeve clasps. This will be returned for something warmer and better made. It is too bad because it is such a nice looking jacket.
