Great value for the price you pay.
The volume, padding, back support and multitude of pockets and straps make this a great backpack for the adventurous hiker. Slight con is that I wish it had a few more simple features, like loops on the shoulder pads to hold the tightening and loosening straps for adjustment of the pack for uphill/downhill hiking.
Other than that, the only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the weight of the pack itself. It could be a Lb or two lighter right off the bat, but thats why you pay an extra $200 to get an Osprey or Gregory pack.
For me the fit is perfect, but keep in mind that everybody is different. You don't really pick the backpack, the backpack picks you based on your individual shape, size and unique fit.

by BPal Great Pack
I have the older White Mountain Pack, have taken it to multiple primitive camping trails and last one was 2 days ago during the Goliath winter storm. I have been using it for an year and it has not shown any sign of wear and tear. Great product, I am sure this new White Mountain will be even better than the older one that I have.
What I did not like about my older pack is its very difficult to take out water bottle from either side and put them in while still having the pack on my shoulder. I absolutely have to take the entire pack down, take out bottle and then put the pack up again. Ideally this should not happen. Because of this my water intake during the long hike is less, which is not good. Hope LL Bean is taking note of this.
I have a wish list too for this bag, if it had a waterproof cover that I could wrap this bag around during heavy rain just to give the extra protection.

Very tough and rugged. Has nice sealing zippers. I opted for the large size at 6'2" frame fits nice. So far so good.
