Rated 5 out of 5 by MDBirder Style update, improved look
Have enjoyed four of the prior version of this shirt with the LLBean logo embroidery. Am very pleased with the updated style - square bottom looks good "untucked" but is long enough to tuck in. Pockets behave better, especially in the wash, because they stay closed so that the velcro doesn't grab onto other clothing. Also pleased that this shirt doesn't have LLBean on the front!

Rated 5 out of 5 by HMTW Great sun protection
I have this shirt in a variety of colors. My most current purchase of this shirt is the best yet starting with the snaps on the collar. I also like the zipper on the left breast pocket. My only complaint is it appears the buttons are a little too big for the button holes. However, I rarely use the button because I tend to use these shirts over either a sleeveless or short sleeved top when I'm going to be in the sun, excellent sun protection.

Rated 4 out of 5 by OctoberAmyCO Fit is too close and shapely, but nice quality
Very nice quality, and it appears to be lightweight although I haven't worn it outside. I'm sending it back for a Large because the Medium fit is too close, and shapely for my purpose. I want to wear it sailing over my swimsuit and I want a looser, more casual fit that allows my to move my arms freely. I feel tightness across the shoulders when it is buttoned. It is a beautiful fit for going shopping or to a restaurant, but not for boating and camping and hanging out outside. I am 5'8", 140lbs, with long arms and somewhat broad shoulders. The sleeves are not quite long enough either.

I got this to wear while kayaking in the summer. I went out on a comfortable, low humidity day and had to take it off after a very short time--not breathable. Yesterday I kayaked for four hours in hot, humid weather wearing a chambray shirt and did fine. I love the style and features of it. It may be good for cool weather activities, but that's not what I wanted.

I love the fitted styling and features. The fabric feels great. Pricey but worth it. Please make this shirt in lavender.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Leatherwing Disappointed with overly slim cut style
The Bean Tropicwear shirts have been my go-to for travel-worthy, hot/humid-weather (wicking), sun-protective clothing. I love the ones I've had in my closet for years. However, the new style is so fitted I could barely button it over my bust, let alone have any range of movement in the arms (pulled tight across front and back). I am about 5'6", 160 lbs, with a D-cup bra. I always buy size M tops from LLBean (I'm rather pear-shaped, carrying my weight lower). I'm slightly busty, but you would have to be flat-chested to button this shirt AND do normal activities. I typically like fitted tops, but only if they have a little stretch. These do not stretch at all and are rather more slim-cut than previously (the last I bought was probably 3 years ago).
The fabric is nice - it has that slightly crinkly quality that packs well and hides wrinkles. Sleeve and shirt length were adequate. The aqua teal plaid is quite pretty - I'm sad that you have to have a model's overly-skinny physique to even think of wearing this shirt, though. I guess I won't be buying any new ones until reviewers confirm us average women can fit in them again.

I have a few long-sleeve UPF 50+ shirts, great protection and so cool in summer with cape vents. Nice shape and dries quickly. The new shirt, made in Bangladesh, has a shorter back cape, stamped-on label, snaps on the roll up tab, and the fabric has pilled after 4 washings in cold water and hanger dried. My older shirts, made in Thailand, have a longer cape, classic fabric LLBean labels, buttons on the roll up tab, and the fabric is as nice as the day I bought them. Snaps might be more convenient; but for $54 I expected the same classic design and fabric quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MrsPJMc Best shirt for African Safari
I wore this shirt many days while traveling in east Africa. Easy to role up sleeves for warmer days, though I did have the short sleeved version, also. I washed it in a sink after dusty days and it easily dried overnight. Great purchase!

Rated 4 out of 5 by bianchi96 hardy but not long enough
I bought 2 of these shirts for travel - wanted something that I could wear in a variety of conditions that would dry quickly. And they did the job perfectly. They were absolutely attacked when I did laundry - with a stone washerboard, twisting the water out and overall being very rough with the shirt. They look just as good as the day I bought them. I have also worn them for hiking and gardening purposes. Unfortunately I find the shirt to not be long enough as the lowest button ends above the top of my pants. The flappy fabric below the button is long enough to hide that fact most of the time, but it still bothers me. I am 5'7" and ordered an XS, so there is that, but I don't generally have this problem with other XS shirts from LL Bean.

Rated 2 out of 5 by DogTrotter67 Hot, hot
This shirt is extremely hot in summer weather. It is like wearing plastic wrap. The vents do not help. Also, when washed, the seams are terribly wrinkly and it looks like you slept in it. I was very disappointed in the performance of the shirt. If you were in real cool weather and didn't mind wrinkles, it is very easy care and quick trying.
