Rated 5 out of 5 by Brooklyniste better than expected
Some reviews were negative but these are comfortable and stylish. Kind of rock-and-roll but outdoorsy, too. Dare I say the perfect boot? Might be pleather, but vegan shoes are better than leather ones anyhow. They run basically true to size--I got an 8 when I normally am a 7.5 or 8. They pull on well. The shiny part in the toe is a nice decorative touch.

Rated 2 out of 5 by badboot Dissatisfied with the boot
If I had realized the patent shine on front and back, I never would have bought these. They are difficult to put on and the strap which made that a little easier pulled off by the 3rd wearing. I also spent a great deal of time erasing black scuff marks off the floor each time I wore them. Not a good boot.

These boots has soft leather, well made, good quality and style, but it is narrow for my wide foot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by musicgrandma very comfortable boots
I bought these a couple of months ago at a sale price.
After reading some of the negative reviews, I didn't have high hopes, but I have been very pleased with my boots. The material is soft and flexible - if it's not leather, it sure looks and feels like it. I was able to wear them right away without a break-in period. The patent leather trim has kept the boots from getting scuffed in the usual places.
They are easy to put on even tho' there's no zipper and easy to take off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by 13Toddlers A winner!!!
I love these boots! Got a pair in brown. They are so comfortable; I wore them right out of the box for a full day standing on my feet, teaching. No break-in period needed, no silk liners needed; they feel like sneakers. I like that they are supple and soundless. I just purchased another pair in black!

Rated 1 out of 5 by AAMI not up to usual standards
The strap and the toe of these boots are patent leather, which was not clear from the photos or description. The strap ripped off the boot the first time I put them on.

Rated 4 out of 5 by onlineshopperSE OK at discounted price
I hesitated to order these boots, but after receiving them I was delighted that they don't look like Darth Vader's face after all. The main photo on the product page definitely had that look at the toe, but the other product page photos accurately represent them.
These boots have shiny patent at the toe and heel, but I've seen other shoes with patent accents lately so maybe that's trendy. I wasn't sure about the look, but I like it OK; it's something a little different.
The labeling and packaging are unusual in that nowhere is it stated what material the boots are made of. The inside is printed with "Made in Brazil," but no mention of material. The only box looked like a shipping carton and no material was listed on it, either. The product page states "leather lined," but the lining seems to be the same material as the rest of the boot. The uppers are very soft and smooth but they don't feel exactly like leather. I thought products were required to be labeled as to the material, but maybe not, or perhaps it's hidden somewhere else inside.
The boots seem to be true to size, and have a stretch panel that makes putting them on easier. The rest of the upper doesn't seem stretchy to me, as the description states, just very supple. The boots don't have a lot of extra cushioning, but I wore them shopping for several hours with regular socks and they were comfortable right out of the box.
I don't necessarily agree with the last reviewer, but I would not pay even close to regular price for them because of the unknown, probably man-made materials. The stitching seems to be well done, they are smoothly finished inside, and they are comfortable and cute enough, but they don't look like $90 boots.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Pekoe Not classy at all
I am disappointed in the overall quality of these boots. Rather cheap looking like a discounted merchandise from Winners. And they are certainly not leather. I find the detail in front too shiny and out of place, seems like a patch to hide e defect, not a fashionable fancy touch. I am on my way to ship them back to LLBean.

Classy yet understated. Not a heavy duty boot, of course. Not for hiking or tramping around from sun up to sun down. More for leisurely walks, shopping, meeting friends, etc.
Love the no zipper slip-on. The elastic insert looks very subtle. The "handle" to tug makes it easy. I had no difficulty putting them on. I'm a size 8-regular and that's what I bought and the fit is ideal.
The black looks good, very smooth, appears to be real leather even though the top is synthetic. They are totally silent, no creaking. The patent accents in front and back are cute. By L.L. Bean standards, this boot is quite stylish.

I LOVE these boots - they're snazzy, jazzy, and pizzazzy. And I like the patent leather patches fore and aft - makes them look spiffy and sassy, almost like spats (What'spat?). They have a jaunty. upbeat vibe that makes you feel like anything's possible. And I love the way they slip on and off easily and quickly.
I seldom heed the "dressy" caveat, so I like to wear them with my True Blue Jeans (TA 284078), and my "Poor Poet's Shirt" (TA284038), nicknamed thus to distinguish it amid all the other pima shirts. These boots also look great with a jumper, turtleneck and tights.
I was able to buy my usual size 6, place my metatar$al orthotics right onto the foot bed without removing anything, and walk comfortably. Of course, I have a secret: silk sock liners, which I use to break in all boots. No blisters, no abraded spots. Depending on the color of the boots' interior, I wear either black or cream. If you live in a cold climate, tights should work as well, but these boots are not for the big chill.
I've always loved LLB's Brazilian footwear for its style, comfort, and refusal to bow to vanity sizing. At a time when "true to size" has lost its meaning, LLB's Brazilian footwear is VERIFIED True To Size.
