Rated 5 out of 5 by KingCatcher Amazing Boots!!
The boots are VERY comfortable. The thick Vibram treads cushions and dampens shock very effectively. While I have not gone out for extended treks through snow, light snow and rain have yet to soak through, and they remain quite breathable. I would have liked to have a gusseted tongue, but otherwise I love everything about these boots!!!

I had high hopes for these shoes when I ordered them, based on other reviews. When they arrived, I put them right on, and was immediately disappointed: they were too tight. I kept the box and shipping label to send them back, but decided not to do so until I had given them a second chance. That's when I discovered that so long as I don't have my very thickest socks on, these are some of the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned: real keepers that I expect will last me about as long as the 20-year-old pair they replaced. If they don't, it will be because I wear them a lot more than those others!

I read several reviews before deciding on these shoes. They are very comfortable after a short break period, i.e., only a hour or 2! Initially I felt that the fit in the heel was a bit lose; this may have more to do my anatomy than a fault with the shoes. Adjusting the lacing while not too tight, improved the heel lifting issue. So far they have been great for casual wear and the cushioning provided leads too much less fatigue compared to other similar footwear I've owned. At times I forget I'm wearing shoes at all! The midsoles don't seem to be very stiff so I don't have any feedback on they perform on more challenging trail terrain. Overall, I'm very pleased with them for my intended usage. Like other reviewers, they should have included some waterproofing labeling since they claim they are waterproof; but too what extent I wonder?

These are well made shoes. They are stylish and comfortable. Certainly true to size. I think they will hold up well and will work well on multiple terrains and in various environments.
I really love ALMOST everything about these shoes. Here's the one thing - on the right shoe there is a regular and audible squeak that occurs WITHIN the shoe. It's a similar sound you might hear/feel when walking on packed snow powder. If you don't have snow you won't know know the sound/feeling, but if you are ever in snowy conditions you'll know what I'm talking about. The squeak happens every step - literally. It sounds like a minor thing right? Well it is - except is ALWAYS there. I am hoping it wears itself out. It may not be the case on every shoe of this type - in fact it's probably not.
It seems like a really really sturdy and well made shoe. I think they will last and stand up to what I throw at them. I am hoping the squeak goes away. They look fantastic. The only view I am not totally in love is when i am standing above them with them on and looking straight down at them, but no one else ever sees that view. They are good shows.
So close to 5 stars!

I love these shoes. I've waited for LLBean to offer a nice looking dark blue shoe for a long time and they finally did. I wear these shoes to work and on weekends. With winter coming, and a prediction of more snow that normal, the waterproofing is what I wanted. Now, Bean, offer a shoe with a dark, wine red color.

Purchased these shoes for my son, when he first put them on he thought the shoe was too high in the arch but after reading the other reviews he wore them for just one evening and they seemed to mold to his feet, he says they are the most comfortable shoes he has. He always buys LLbean shoes as he says they are the best.

Rated 3 out of 5 wasn't for me
I thought these shoes looked pretty good when I saw them in the store. I ended up ordering them online to replace my recently fallen hiking boots. I use my boots for day hikes, working outside, and weekend camping trips. After wearing these around the house for an hour it became clear that they are mostly for casual wear. The shoes makes you feel set back and flatfooted, similar to a walking shoe. The tread was sort of overboard, and the exaggerated ripples ended up getting caught on everything. I ended up bringing them back and intend to get a dedicated hiking shoe.

Other Merrell shoes I have purchased fit like a glove right out of the box. When I first put these on they felt a little tight an thought I might have to exchange for a larger size, That was not the case as after wearing for an hour they fit great. The Annex is now my favorite shoe to wear. Even the color is low key but distinctive. Very happy with my purchase.

These boots are listed as "waterproof Gor-Tex" boots. I just received mine and nowhere on these boots is anything mentioned about waterproof or Gor-Tex. Boots looked great and fit well but if these boots were truly waterproof then Merrell would make sure that was on the shoe itself. Use your own judgment.
