by MarylandGram Warm, launders well, great for sleeping under
Love our home furnishings from LLBean! Looks like it came right out of the web site into our home. I like the fact that the sheets, blanket, quilt and rugs are well made. Could not ask for better quality.

FABULOUS! We live in Upstate NY at elevation. This has been the coldest winter here in the 17 yrs we have been in this house. Our home is a large 1880 farmhouse, remodeled some, but still chilly and with no heat in our master bedroom except by osmosis lol.
We have a comforter, afghan, flannel sheets and 2 other blankets on our bed, but when I replaced the old Velux with this Pendelton wool blanket, the difference was felt the first night! Hard to put your finger on it other than to say warmth, but a special kind of warmth, soothing. The blanket is not scratchy but feels natural to the touch and I look forward to having it the rest of my life!
If you are debating, my recommendation is BUY while they are still making these at reasonable prices!

Rated 5 out of 5 by GardenBirdDog Lovely Pendleton Washable Wool Blanket
Haven't washed it yet, so hope for little to no shrinkage or pilling, but I can't speak to those issues yet. We've bought Pendleton washable wool blankets, although not from Bean, in past years, which have been laundered multiple times, and they look like new.
Apart from how well this may launder when the time comes, our expectations from previous experience have been fully met by this handsome, warm, lightweight, itch-free, made-in-USA, Pendleton classic.
As so many reviewers have already stated, one of the many reasons we love these blankets is that one blanket provides a perfect level of warmth without much weight - no need to be buried under numerous layers. Most winter nights, just a sheet and this blanket feels just right. It's a rare night cold enough to add a weightless summer-rated down blanket (lighter than a level 1 down comforter#. We don't like to feel pinned beneath heavy bedding.
First ordered a color, if memory serves me #I don't think site will let me go back and look at the color name while writing a review# called Aqua Haze #Blue Haze?#. At any rate, it looked aqua in the catalog. Upon arrival, the color was beautiful, but it was a muted aqua-green, not aqua-blue. Any aqua-blue without too much grey in it would have blended with much of our furnishings. As it was, the shade had too much grey and yellow in its undertones, making it clash with all of our bedding, carpets and accessories.
We exchanged for the so-neutral-as-to-go-with-nearly-anything grey windowpane. It is classic and timeless.
FYI for those concerned with overhang and how it will work with their Queen-sized bedframe or deep mattress, the overhang on each side #from the edge of the side of the bed to the bottom edge of the blanket overhang) is 16 inches. Keep in mind that I haven't washed and dried this blanket. After I do, I'll try to provide an update on shrinkage, if any.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Starzbynight Pendleton Blanket
This is the best blanket I have ever received. It was a Christmas present that has made all the difference in my winter night's sleep. I suspect it will serve well for summer, too, over the top sheet. For now I have my top sheet, an LL Bean medium down comforter, and the wool Pendleton blanket on top of the comforter. The comfort level is perfect, giving a depth of warmth not felt with a pile of blankets. It takes that "bone chill" off very quickly. What a thoughtful gift.

Very pleased with my purchase of the washable herringbone blanket that I bought in twin to use as a coverlet on my queen size bed. I got the medium blue and really like the pattern and color. A family member saw the blanket and hinted that it would be an excellent holiday present so I purchased another one. I am happy that LL Bean works with Pendleton Mills to offer such good quality wool blankets.

I purchased the "Blue Haze" color and the color matches exactly to the color in the photo on my laptop screen. It is a lovely aqua color herringbone weave. I'm so happy to have it.

I did some research Into the Pendleton company before making this purchase expensive purchase. Pendleton blankets have been hand made by Native Americans for over one hundred years and are considered the finest woven wool blankets In the world even by people In Eastern European countries known for their handmade blankets and quilts. I bought midblue herringbone model which is basically navy blue and even though Bean recommends washing It once before using to make It softer I found It plenty soft without. I live In NYC and my bedroom Is gets extremely cold In the winter time and last week the temperature dropped to 20F, (wind-chills 0), I slept quite cozy underneath my new Pendleton blanket unaware of the bitter cold surrounding me. The woven herringbone, navy blue color Is beautiful by the way. This Is one of the finest made In the USA products that I've ever purchased from LL Bean!

We rented a cabin in WV and the owners had this blanket on the beds. I loved it so much, that I ordered one when I got home. My internal thermostat is changing and I find the down comforters too hot. This wool blanket works much better over the sheet, and on the occasional night when I need I need something more, I just throw our light, quilted bed cover on top. It is itch-free and has gotten softer with each wash. The colors are great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MyCabinInTheWoods Lightweight, Itch-Free Warmth: Worth Every Penny!
(Note: This reviews the previous year's version of the Washable Wool Blanket)
After 7 weeks of use, here are initial impressions: no bad smells at all (which previous posters complained about), itch-free warmth that doesn't weigh you down. I'd saved up for awhile to buy this blanket, and it's been totally worth it.
It keeps me warm & cozy at night, so I can keep my heating expenses down, which really helps for high-altitude winters. Paired with a lined Rugby Robe to wear around the house, I haven't needed to start using my wood-burning stove yet - much to the chagrin of my short-coated dog!
If you want to stay warm while lowering the thermostat, or hate being plastered in bed by piles of blankets, this blanket's for you!
