Rated 2 out of 5áby oldmarine LLB takes step backward in sandals??
I bought my first pair of LLB's Explorer sandals several years, loved them from day one. Easy to slip on and off, still wear them to walk our Black Lab 1 - 2 miles every day. They're just what we'd expect in LLB merchandise. (I don't care for the rubber platform, so put in a high-quality spongy liner, works perfectly!)
Soles were starting to wear, so bought second pair in 2012, was surprised that the ankle strap is not only adjustable, but that the Velcro adjustment is so thick it rubs my Achilles tendon. Set them aside and forgot about them (Still have original box, though, will return to LLB!)
Optimistically tried again, bought two pairs when recently on sale. They're worse than the second pair, seem heavier and less flexible.
If they'd go back to the originals with the one-piece backstrap, I'd buy 5 pairs... (I'm a healthy 80, they'd more than last the rest of my life, and comfortably!)

Rated 5 out of 5áby ColoradoBeanFan Can Men's Sandals Fit a Woman? Yes!
I love Explorer Sandals -- have been buying them since 2009. I take an 8.5, but have wished Bean would make them in a Wide width for women.
Recently, these men's Explorers were on Daily Markdown - in a Wide width! So I checked and found out I could order a men's 7 for my 8.5 size foot. The sandals came today -- and they fit perfectly. There's extra room in the toe area, and the wide width fits even better than my other sandals in the 8.5 Medium size since they won't pinch my right-foot little toe, which I rammed into a fixed object 2 years ago. This is good news for women like me who find things in the men's departments that you wish Bean offered for women. I do the same thing with shirts. Right now I take a Large in women's shirts, but if I see a men's shirt I like, I just go to a Medium - perfect.
I do not buy men's pants, like jeans, however, because I've done it before only to find there's too much material in the waist which bunches up in the lower part of your back. But for most other items of apparel, you can adjust men's sizes to your own and get exactly what you want.

Rated 4 out of 5áby beancjr good value
got a pair of these sandals about a week ago. They look great. At first I was concerned about the fit and rub points from the back closure but neither turned out to be a problem. I'm beginning to like them a lot. I have a similar pair of Keen sandals and think that the Bean pair look better but maybe not quite as comfortable but the Beans cost about 60% of the Keen cost and the Velcro closure makes for easier on/off. A good value.

Rated 5 out of 5áby BacktoAfrica Comfortable from the first step.
Ordered these just before leaving on a trip to Africa. A previous review said they were comfortable the first time you wore them. They were correct! Started wearing them the day I got them and two days before leaving for Africa. Wore them everyday during my trip and they felt like I had been wearing them for years! I like them better than my "birkies!"

Rated 3 out of 5áby MrFishK Plastic ring broke in one year
Bought these a year ago, and really liked them. Comfortable and secure on the foot.
I didn't wear these very much really, and the plastic ring holding the back strap broke walking up the driveway. Well made except for this one critical part.
I will be calling, and if they haven't started making this part out of something more durable, I will be looking for something else.
Too bad really, as I like them.

Rated 5 out of 5áby oldmarine Really comfortable, 3 years, still going strong!
I'm fairly sure mine are three years old, and I wear almost nothing else in the Texas summer, including walking my Black Lab about a mile and a half daily.
Mine don't have the adjustable strap in back... Not too sure I'll like that, but feel that I can't go wrong with LLB!
Mine are still doing great, although the sole's wearing because of all the walking... I was only on this catalog page because I want to order a couple more pairs at this great price less the "15% off on everything sale".
My satisfaction with LLB's merchandise is about 85 - 90%, but the satisfaction guarantee is 100%.
Just wish more stuff from US producers!!

Rated 5 out of 5áby bob111 fit well, protects feet, good for surf or boating
These replace some water shoes I got a while back from ll bean. These are better.
Ordered my normal sneaker/shoe size and they fit.
Good for protecting the feet while manipulating boats at the water's edge, and easy to take off once in the small craft.
Also good for swimming while at a shore whose bottom is rocky or otherwise rough.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Bob1954 The Usual LL Bean Quality
My Explorers came yesterday and I wore then around the house for a few hours to get the fit and feel of them. Very light and comfortable, nice finish as well. The usual quality you'd expect from LL Bean.
What I really like about them is the ability to tighten up the laces for a better fit. This is really important to me because my right foot is a full size smaller than my left. Tightening up the laces allowed for a great fit for my right foot which something that usually can't be done with sandals.

I bought a pair 2 years ago. They are comfortable. I wear them around the house, and strolling around the yard. The bottom of the soles are now separating from the rest of the foot bed. Air is coming in from the slits in the tread, I know this sounds strange, but you have to be in my shoes. From my past experience, (I am 64), and have really used, and used up footwear in my younger days. These sandals would not have held up a couple months of normal use back then.
