A year ago I had a total knee replacement, while I was at Mercy Hospital the staff commented on how good these sneakers would be as I recuperated. The are a slightly wider base, more stable and support is excellent. I wore these through all my PT and was very comfortable standing on one foot for balance and strength. The lacing system is spectacular for someone with surgery. It tightened well, is easy to use and doesn't slip like other systems. These sneakers hit the mark and I'm heading up to get another pair when I'm done this review!

I wondered at first if I would get used to the different lacing system, but I've come to like it. It's easier and quicker than real laces, but doesn't look juvenile like velcro. If it ever breaks it looks like it could easily be replaced with paracord -- sometimes original laces are difficult to find.
The stock inner soles are better than average, but I still replaced them with premium ones because I need more cushion and arch support.
After three weeks they are my preferred and most comfortable shoes. I hope they last a long time.

Tried on several models at the Freeport store and this one just felt "Perfect". Not too firm and not too soft just in the middle.
Love the quick lace-up feature plus the two assist grip loops that aid you pull on the shoe. Tread works great on all surfaces I have encountered. Think I will be happy for a long time with this shoe.
Excellent and knowledgeable sales people at Freeport store.

Great fit and comfortable out of the box. Just got them and have not done any serious hiking, so time will tell. Great service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MADMainiac Excellent day hiker
I have had a number of hiking boots from LL over the years, both day hikers and heavy-duty long-hikers. LL-brand shoes have been good, but tend to run narrow and never quite fit me properly. While in the Freeport store last summer, I had a long discussion with some of the staff and they suggested these shoes. I had previously purchased Salomon's Quest 4D GTX hikers and had some issues prior to making an adjustment (see separate review), but these fit well (better than the LL hikers) and were very "sticky" on the fake rock surface in the store, so I went with them. Now having lived with them for nearly a year, I am a very happy camper (well, hiker, I guess). I have used them for all-day hikes in Acadia and the Eastern mountains on roots, rocks, and granite surfaces as well as in the dust or mud (depending upon season) of trails in the coastal range of California. I frequently hike 15 to 30 miles a day and climb 2500 to 5000 feet, and these boots have made these hikes thoroughly enjoyable. They are light, supportive, and very sure-footed. So far, I have over 400 miles on them, they have shown no problems, and I have grown increasingly satisfied.
As you may have noticed from the pictures, the lacing is extremely convenient, quite ingenious, and very easy to use (although a little unusual), but I do wonder what will happen when it finally fails.
