Super warm but breathable. Did go down a size, 5'6" 135# x-small fits, small way too big.

I was super excited about this jacket. I first ordered a S, tried it on and decided an XS would be a better fit as the shoulders were too wide on the S model.
Unfortunately the XS's zipper is defective. It is extremely moody, and sometimes works with no problems and other times will not zip up. Since I use it for outdoor activities, I take layers on and off depending on whether I am moving. Having to fight with the zipper in -30F weather was not a pleasant experience, particularly since I had to take my gloves off. I recently found myself lying down flat on a hill to get an angle the zipper would cooperate with. I will be sending the jacket back in because of this.
It is a pity, as it is an otherwise very well designed jacket. When the zipper closes it has kept me warm on cold Fairbanks days, and all zippers are waterproofed. If you will just be using this jacket as a commuter jacket, it could work. Personally I will try it again next year...

I wanted to love this jacket! It seems well-made, is light weight, and doesn't have an overly bulky look. I ordered it in two sizes as I wasn't sure which size would work best for me. When I tried on the first jacket, the zipper failed. I read that a reviewer had a zipper problem, but I hoped that person had a lemon jacket and that it wasn't a design problem overall. However, the zipper got stuck when I tried to zip it up the first time, and I had to shimmy out of the jacket because I couldn't get the zipper unstuck while wearing it. I was very disappointed, and didn't bother to try the other size jacket. If it weren't for the zipper, this would be a great jacket as the other features are exactly what I was seeking!

We just got back from skiing in Vermont. It was -25+ with the wind chill. My 10 year old son didn't care and wanted to ski a full day. THIS JACKET LIVED UP TO ITS DESCRIPTION! This jacket was windproof, waterproof and roomy. I carried lunch for 3, a water bottle and snacks in the pockets. The hood was perfect and fit over my helmet. I had a NorthFace jacket and both the cut and technical features of THIS JACKET far surpassed my NF jacket! The only thing cold on me were my hands...I need to purchase some LL Bean ski gloves. I am 5'6" 145lbs and size M was perfect.

I bought this ski jacket because it was described as warm and waterproof. It is both of those, and not too thick. It has the underarm zips for ventilation if you are getting too warm. I love that the style is longer than a typical ski jacket, from what I can tell, and it has a double zipper. I love the longer length, but that can be a little restrictive and cause it to ride up when ever you are sitting. So, the reverse zipper at the bottom eliminates this problem. I ordered the grey and would describe it as a flat, gunmetal color. The bright colors are not what I was looking for, but I would have liked maybe a darker jewel tone. I bought the size small. I'm 5'6" and 126lbs. The fit is boxy but I do not like fitted clothes, especially jackets.

Love the longer length, sleeve length great, trimmer cut, hood fits well, lightweight, room for layers - medium for 5'6", 140 lbs. I love the grey color, don't need to stand out. Am a dog walker in all kinds of weather, coat keeps me warm and dry. Thanks LL for a great jacket that is not pink or blue.

Expensive ski jacket and they put in a very cheaply made zipper. Who wants to be skiing and having to deal with a zipper that is difficult to use. Buy a North Face for the money. What happened to LL Beans quality?? Otherwise the jacket is beautiful. Too bad the zipper ruins it.

I purchased this jacket for the variable Vermont ski weather. I wanted a warm, yet lightweight jacket. This is it!
My first use was in November 2014, with Saturday at 14 F. The jacket was warm enough! On Sunday, temps jumped to the high 40's, and with underarm zippers opened, it was cool enough. I love that one jacket works over a wide temperature range.
Also much appreciated, a reversible zipper and a hood that fits over my helmet. The longer length also adds to the warmth. My jacket in the brilliant blue color with was quite visible in a thick fog.
