Rated 5 out of 5 by HappyAlaskan Bad feet? Get these shoes!
I suffer from bunions and any type of hiking boot or shoe is usually not all that comfortable. These hiking shoes have been the best thing for my feet. Yes, the toe box tends to be wider than other hiking shoes, but that is just what my feet need. I walked all over Iceland in these shoes, and I walk the dog 2 to 3 times a day in these shoes. My feet don't bother me at all.

I really liked this boot, it fit well, was comfortable. However, the area where the tongue meets the shoe was frayed. I tried 3 different pairs and they were all the same. LLBean even hand-inspected the last pair before they shipped and they were still frayed. At this price, I would not expect that kind of defect, although minor initially, it would continue to fray and become worse over time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Cleanlinessfreak Great for walking the dogs
I originally bought these to wear while training/walking my Rotties through orchards and on dirt roads, since I needed something more stable/higher ankle than athletic shoes to keep out the dirt. However, I'm now wearing them while walking on sidewalks/roads in the dark after work (with my Bean headlamp of course#. Better stability on slick leaves and damp surfaces. A little clunky to increase to a jog in, but it's only for a couple hundred feet. I normally wear an 8M, and the 81/2 Keen fit perfectly #I have short toes, but truly a M).

OK, so I first ordered another pair of snow sneakers from LL Bean that I have already reviewed: AWFUL. Sent them back. Ordered these and they arrived in a few days. JUST FANTASTIC. I'm a walker and out everyday in the cold, snow, ice of winter. They are warm, fit perfectly, soft, and supportive. I am now wearing them beyond just 'walking' time. They feel like a good pair of tennis shoes. I also have plantar facilitis and so I need a good supportive shoe. Excellent! Highly recommend. Order 1/2 larger than your usual shoe as it's a Keen!

Rated 3 out of 5 by michlin2 Keen Targhee II
Going w/ the advice of prior reviewers I sized up, which turned out to be not a good idea for me! My foot was swimming in the 9, I am usually an 8 1/2. The boot was good looking, but the blue a little too bright for my taste. If the boots had fit to begin with i would have considered them keepers.

I LOVE THESE BOOTS!
I've been searching for years for a boot that's rugged, has enough toe room, can be worn with different weight socks, and that is comfortable without feeling like lead on my feet. I've tried every kind of boot you can imagine and finally decided to try the Keens. I have Keen low hikers and Keen river wader sandals, but for some reason, never tried the Keen Targhee II boots. These are without a doubt the most comfortable boots I've ever worn. Right out of the box they feel as if I've worn them for years. They have just the right amount of support and padding. I walked 2 miles in them at first wearing, and they are sturdy and waterproof as advertised. Buy these boots! You won't be sorry.

These books are quite wide. My foot moves around far too much inside the boot, so unfortunately they will need to go back.

These are a bit wide in the toe but better a bit wide than a bit narrow! Cut a tad high under the ankle.
Heavy lugs on sole are great for trail but will usually have to be removed before coming in the house because they'll hold more than the recommended amount of mud/grass/debris for tracking in.
Bottom line: dry feet are happy feet.

I wore these straight out of the box on a ten mile hike through rugged terrain. Normally, this would be a bad idea, but I was in a bind. I didn't need to worry. These shoes are fantastic! No chafing, no blisters, no cramped toes, no slippage on tree roots or mud...and they really are waterproof. I accidentally stepped into ankle deep muck and my socks remained perfectly dry. My feet did not ache at the end of the trail. I got these on sale, but would gladly pay full price if I ever needed to replace them. They're worth every cent. I ordered a half size up so they'd fit comfortably with my thick socks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Curlieq20 These are a great pair of hiking boots!
I originally had Merrill hiking boots, and decided to return them because after hiking or traveling down a slope my small toes would feel cramped and would often get hot (close to blistering), due to the narrowness of the boot. I had tried a size up of the Merrills, but they still were not cutting it. Bought these, and I'm so glad that I did! I normally wear a size 7 or 7 1/2, but ended up buying a 7 1/2 in these, and I have no regrets! I love how they are wider in the front, so my little toes are free. Would definitely recommend.
