My 4th LL Bean Turtleneck and appreciate the wide range of colors & collar choices. We have a real old fashioned winter here and have been layering these with sweaters. Haven't had them long enough to notice shrinking but did note others saying to order a size up to allow shrinkage & as I enjoy soft & "roomy comfortable" so far these have fit the bill.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Ishopbargains What has happened to LL Bean quality??
I ordered 2 of these because the sale price was so good. I live in CO so turtlenecks & mock turtlenecks get used alot. I ordered a large because the sizing in the last few years has shrunk. I am 5'8" and 140 lbs., wide shoulders, long arms and skinny body. When these arrived they fit fine. Washed according to instructions and they barely fit now. Probably should have ordered an XL although I've never worn an XL in anything. Sure am tired of shrinkage after washing and odd sizing. Used to order from LL Bean monthly but in the last year I've seldom used them. Really disappointed.

I am sorry to say that I can't recommend this shirt. The fabric is substantial and I like the color. But the shirt has shrunk at least one size and maybe more. I only wash in cold water and dry lightly for about 5 minutes and then let it air dry, yet it shrank considerably I am going to be careful not to order any more of these.

Rated 1 out of 5 by lynn45 the terrible shrinking jersey
Have purchased the wonderful pima version for years. This new fabric is terrible. Shrinks more after each washing, the cuff is rapidly approaching my elbow. Please bring back the prima!

I ordered one in black-grey stripe, one in raspberry-cabernet. The subtle stripe makes them more interesting than solid colors. They are good quality fabric with a bit of stretch and well-constructed. I'd order the green stripe too if it were available in my size. They run true to size.

l Love, love this shirt, but thought it felt snug after I washed it. I was really busy so did not think too much more about it, but I see that other people have had the same experience. Ordering another size up bc it's on sale. Love the color combo.
Buy two sizes up!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Sierramom2 Very soft but shrank
Like so many other reviewers, I have purchased a lot of LL Bean turtlenecks over the years (I'm 51#. This mock turtleneck is a lovely color #I bought the teal#, and the fabric is soft and substantial-- but it shrunk quite a bit, and I didn't even put it in the dryer! I'd suggest buying one size up, especially if you have long arms and torso #as I do).

I have purchased moc turtlenecks from LL Bean for years.Loved them and the colors..I have noticed the last 3 I have purchased have shrunk ,especially in the sleeves. My older ones haven't. They still fit nicely. I have never checked reviews on this item because I have never had an issue, but now I do, & I have checked the reviews. So it seems as though I am not alone! I spend a great deal of $$ at LL Bean , in fact, in the colder months I am a walking advertisement for them....I have never sent anything back to them that I have washed. ..But I will now!!
They obviously don't fit the same, no matter how many times you wash it. (one wash) ....Disappointed? Yes I am!

I should have listened to all the reviewers who said these shirts shrink. I thought how bad can it be. Well, it's bad - at least 1-1/2 sizes smaller bad. Whether washed on delicate in cold water on low speed and in the dryer on air for 2 minutes, or washed by hand and drip dried, they shrink beyond belief. I ordered 4 mediums and now they are at least a small petite. Everything is small and tight - from neck to sleeves to body. What a sad, bad product. I will not be buying any clothing products from LLBean ever again.

I used to love LLBean cotton mock turtlenecks, but they have changed them in the last year or so and they are all too short, even before you wash them. They all say they fall at the hip in the catalogue, but mostly they actually fall at the lower waist, and will gap when you stretch up to reach for something. In the past, they actually fell at the lower hip, which provided some coverage, particularly if you wear plus sizes. Saying that they fall at the hip is not really helpful to tell what the coverage is therefore. You should say how long they are in inches instead of vague descriptions like "at the hip" (which is what you say about 90% of your clothes it seems so really useless to tell the fit).
