Rated 5 out of 5áby packoffour Wish I had bought the other colors
I bought 2 of these when it was on the one day special. I love it. I read the reviews and I ordered one size smaller. I am 5' 4" and 140 pounds and ordered the small. The fit is perfect, and the jacket is light and packable. Of course, love the thinsulate lining, which is all the way into the 2 sleeves.I do not have a problem with the position of the belt, and love it even more with the front belt loops. I also ordered one for my mom, both in the khaki color. Now I wish I had ordered other colors as well.

Rated 1 out of 5áby EwilyW Drapes like a box
I ignored the other reviews and tried this item for myself after purchasing it on sale. I have since returned it. Despite looking like a fitted coat, the coat drapes the body like a box looking oversized and frumpy. I thought perhaps it was A-line and stylish, but it's pretty much a square. I wear a 36D bra and still found this large in the chest through armpit area - too much material bulking me up. The idea of the coat is great, and it would be ideal for traveling, but not as is. Additionally, the belt was very cheap looking.

Rated 5 out of 5áby aimer Love this coat
I love this coat! I read carefully all the reviews, esp. the negative reviews on the coat, and ordered anyway. I'm so glad I did. This coat is perfect for winter weather in Atlanta. We get freezing, cold rain a lot and this coat works so well in being water resistant and warm. It is stylish and fits over my work blazers and jackets easily as well.
I did take the advice of others and the listing and ordered a size smaller than I normally would. This was good advice. The fit is just right.
I've been using it this week during our cold snaps in the 20s and 30s and it has worked out very well.
It is a bit noisy, but I expected that from the reviews and frankly would expect that from any water-resistant-type coat. My only minor complaint is that because it is a bit slippery, my light weight purse does not stay on my shoulder. I have to carry it by hand, which is okay. Any heavier shoulder bags have stayed on okay.
Thanks again LL Bean for a great quality coat!

Rated 2 out of 5áby leesymomeesy good potential but bad sizing
I'm 5'8", 175 pounds, usually a S or M, but after seeing other reviews I ordered the XS. It was still too big! It was ok around the waist and hips, but too much room in the chest and waayyy too much room in the arms. I took the liner out thinking that would help with the bulkiness of it, but then I just felt like I was swimming in the extra fabric. I prefer a jacket that's more fitted/curvy--this one isn't flattering at all. It does look like it would hold up well in weather, and seems pretty warm, but good luck trying to find a size that fits. :/

All the other reviews regarding sizing are correct - it runs big. I normally wear an XL but ordered a L which fit perfectly. I ordered the gray which is classy and goes with everything. The coat is warm and stylish. I am very pleased with my purchase.

I ordered a petite large. It fit but the belt was very high waisted. Also the sleeves were too long. I would have expected a petite to have proportionally shorter sleeves.

Rated 2 out of 5áby mmrudy Not a good fit, darn it.
I need a darkish, mid thigh length jacket, that fits easily over a sweater for travel abroad, particularly in the Near and Middle East. A lining is not required. This jacket is not going to work for me, and has been returned.
The color, a metallic gray is a great neutral. It has pockets! It is double breasted, not my favorite feature, but tolerable. It is belted which can be a plus or minus depending on overall fit.
Unfortunately, the sizing -- a petite small -- for a usually medium sized body was both too large and too small. For example, the shoulders drooped a Ż inch, more or less. The sleeves were about 1.5 " too long. On the other hand, the belt was just under my breasts (I am short waisted, the belt probably should have been below the belly button.) The belt does not appear to be easily eliminated. The length did not reach mid thigh.
The lining adds considerable bulk. I looked like a jolly snow woman. (I didn't take out the lining because it seemed unlikely to eliminate the deficits listed above.)

Rated 1 out of 5áby HawaiiWalker Pet XS (smallest size) is still gigantic!
Granted, I'm a small person: 5", 118 lbs. However, one would think that a Pet. XS would fit a smaller person like myself. Well, I was swimming in this coat. There was at least 6 inches of extra fabric all the way down from the armpit to the hem: with the waist cinched up, I looked like a vertical bow tie. If I hadn't double-checked the label I would have thought that the coat was a size 8 at least. The overall length was fine though the sleeves were too long. But the width...! Needless to say, I was very disappointed as it seems like a warm, waterproof coat. I wish LLB would start providing accurately-sized clothing for people my size.

Rated 1 out of 5áby manhattanannie This was a disappointing purchase
I love everything I have purchased from LL Bean, but this coat was very disappointing. I looked like the puff marshmallow man. The picture didn't look like that at all. So back it went.

Rated 4 out of 5áby fdrfdm Nice coat but absurdly high waist
I knew about the sizing and the stiff, noisy, waterproof fabric ahead of time. I didn't mind much about the fabric, and I ordered a petite large, which fits fine although I ordinarily wear an XL. The one thing that is really odd about this coat is that its waist is incredibly high. It doesn't look bad, but it feels weird and uncomfortable. I am 5'3" and shortwaisted, so I doubt it's me. However, it is a well made, attractive coatcoat and I needed to wear it the day it arrived so am keeping it.
