These were smaller in waist than my regular LL size. The side zip certainly didn't help, as there was no give in the fabric.

I live in these pants for work. Great to tuck into boots and wonderful fabric with substantial weight and draping. I got my normal size 14 and they fit great! I also got one pair of 16's due to the reviews about being small, and over time they are loose on me but I kept them anyway. These are slim fit without being tight on me. Also, I don't even mess with the side zippers, leave them up and use them as pull-on like the perfect fit pants. Works great for me. They wash and dry wonderfully. I wash on delicate, dry on low for a few minutes then hang to dry completely. Just ordered two more pair before they sell out. Hope you keep selling these. I have a 29" inseam and these are perfect length. Thanks LL Bean!

Rated 3 out of 5 by geoskimom Squeeze into them
Was excited to see these on your daily markdown and snatched them up in two sizes, my normal size and, just to be on the safe side, the next larger. Couldn't squeeze into either pair. Too bad because they seemed like they'd be super comfy and would look sharp with a tunic-type top, if you have the figure to pull off that look. That they come all the way up to the natural waist is a plus. No pockets is a negative. Alas, as I can't get into them, they are going back.

Rated 2 out of 5 by docentdoc Wow, these really run small!
Just received my pants and was so excited until I tried them on. The material feels comfortable and they seemed to be well made. I usually wear a size 6 petite in Bean's jeans but i ordered these in an 8 regular. I could not zip them up. I could not close the waist band. I am returning them and reordering them in a size 10 because the price is right and the material is very good. Also, the legs really cling so if your thighs and legs are a little larger than average you may not want to order them two sizes up.

After 4 pair of black pants, I finally found the perfect fit. Thank you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Marsha7 Zipper gets better
I wrote before about the zipper problem, as had others. I've found, however, that after a couple of wearings, the zipper/fabric seems to loose up a bit and works better.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Marsha7 Almost great
I like these very much; they're about the best and most reasonable slacks I've found, without going to stratospheric prices. They are a nice weight for year-round wear, and I would buy them in multiple colors, if available. I usually wear a 6, but I am wearing an 8 in the Ponte Knit Pants--comfortable and not skin tight. The zipper, which others have mentioned, is a big problem--it doesn't easily pull up over the deep waistband. For fabric comparison: the Ponte Knits are by far a more substantial and better-wearing fabric than LLBean's "PerfectFit" line of slacks, and a far more substantial weight than the "Indispensable" slacks (LLBean's travel line).

Rated 3 out of 5 by grma Somewhat disappointed
I am a big fan of LLBean clothing which comprises most of my wardrobe. I love the fit, silhouette, and comfort of these pants, but unfortunately, the side zip hook and eye closure is very difficult. The zipper does not zip easily above the waistband. Also, the pants tend to bag out at the knees after wearing all day. If the pants could be styled with a front zip and button closure, I would order another pair.

Rated 2 out of 5 by SmilyG Too long
I bought regular even though I'm 5'2" and usually wear a petite or "short" leg. I figured the pants could be hemmed. I can easily fit into a pair of Jeans that are "6 short" from a nationally known brand, so I figured a 6 in these pants would just need to be shortened.
Nope, can't do it. The legs are comfortable but too long. However, due to the waist clasp, I can't just shorten the leg and keep the pants. To keep these pants, I need to lengthen my torso by an inch or two.
These pants are being returned.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jayelgee1 A good alternative to too tight leggings
I was looking for slim-leg black knit pants to wear instead of too tight leggings that I could tuck into tall boots if I wanted. I am glad I have a local LL Bean store because I was able to go try them on.
These pants fit great - a nice slim leg with a great shape all the way down. The weight of the knit is very good and didn't cling even when on a very cold day I wore leggings underneath. I need a 29.5 inch inseam, so this was another reason I liked these when I tried them on. Perfect length for me.
I only wish that they were not side-zipped. Don't designers understand that it is so inconvenient to have to twist the waist around to get access to the hook and eye and the zipper to zip open or closed? I wish these pants were fly-front.
They fit perfectly smoothly into a tall boot and look great with ballet flats or a heel.
I bought 2 pairs - a terrific sales associate ordered the second pair for me directly at the store. Delivery was super quick. And I used a coupon for a great bargain.
The knit held its shape.
I highly recommend these knit pants.
