Rec'd shirt today in paper white. The print looks better in person than on the computer. Like a previous reviewer, I'm 5'3'" and 138lbs. But I'm thinking that the medium is too big while she thinks it's too small. hmmm. I was going to return it for a small which I now know is sold out. It's also longer on me than on the model in the picture, but that's OK. Maybe I'll wear it with tights and boots, as suggested by another reviewer, bcs I do like the shirt. To the other reviewers, thanks for your input.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BeansRegular Awesome shirt
This is not your sloppy casual plaid shirt. I bought this over 6 months ago and could not believe how soft and subtly stretchy this merino wool and cotton blouse is. With some wool items, I have a great deal of trouble with itching, but this shirt has no scratchiness at all. The lycra gives it great stretch for full range of motion.
Although the plaids may seem a bit menswear-like and/or plain, the look of the shirt on is phenomenal. I find that it runs true to size for me, but I do have a trimmer waist and prefer princess seams to give shape to shirts.
This shirt remains wrinkle free all day. With the pintucking and fretwork on the front panel, it does look like a much more expensive shirt and can be worn with a suit to work. It is light in weight (but fabric is substantial) but gives a surprising amount of warmth secondary to the merino wool.
I wanted to buy another, but my size was all sold out. I am hoping that this shirt comes back this winter with new plaids, as I plan to order several more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nicks LOVE THIS SHIRT!
I "ditto" all reviews prior to mine and add that I usually wear 1X in LL Bean's Tee/Knit Tops and XL in Button-Front Shirts. I got this in XL and it's almost too small due to the slim fit. I'm hoping for no shrinkage and not to gain anymore weight because this is a real keeper!
LL Bean, Please offer more plus sizes.

Light/medium weight but just the right warmth.
Flattering shape. And I have the typical bulky torso of a woman in her 60's.
Comes out of the dryer perfect and ready to wear.
I love this shirt!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Hikemaster Beautiful Fabric & Excellent Tailoring
Beautiful slimming cut, longer length, soft and warm and stretching fabric. There is a huge amount of delicate work. These delicate feminine details should have made this shirt a hundred dollar shirt. I love the fabric content and weight, which give warmth to wear to work. I wish this shirt came in spring floral prints with coral, lilac, and aqua hues, because spring is still cool and could use a beautiful thin fabric in a fitted wear to work shirt with a bit of soft warmth. This shirt washes and dries easily. I love the delicate feminine white buttons as they add a touch of class: I bought it in the black watch tartan.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Pennsy Comfortable and Good Fit
This shirt is very soft and comfortable, and it washed up beautifully. Absolutely no need for ironing. Looks good with jeans and khakis or with dressy wool slacks and a blazer. My only complaint is that the button holes are a little too small so it's hard to button.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Chappymom A winner
I have been looking for a plaid shirt. This one fits the bill...feminine cut and details, soft and even wrinkle resistant. It will go nicely with my black and gray sweaters. Plan on pairing it with my black legging and tall boots.

I know---I don't come to LLBean for foxy stuff, either. But this one is: beautifully fitted, a mix of masculine plaid with feminine frill. It's even sexy in a demure kind of way, with a bit of prairie a la "Big Love" mixed in, and some British charm, too. I tried one on, on a whim, at the local LLBean store, on sale, as the last thing I brought into the fitting room: I expected it to be blah and dowdy. But I had to smile at myself in the mirror: what a winner. I quickly went online to buy another color, even though that one is still full price. Don't let this one go. And, LLBean, please bring this back next year in new plaids.

Rated 2 out of 5 by NYgal Nice idea but doesn't work for me
After reading 5 reviews & checking the size chart, I bought the Black Stewart plaid in size large. My other Bean flannel shirts are a medium & fit well, but I wish they had a bit of stretch to them. This looked like a good shirt since it has some wool & stretch, but I opted for the large because of the dreaded " princess seaming" . The shirt fit my waist but was way too large on top. The fabric was nice, comfortable but the tiny buttons and narrow placket were impossible to handle. There is barely enough width to easily button the shirt, and the buttons are very small. The other con was the size of the plaid design - way too large for the feminine design, it should be a more delicate plaid. And the sleeves proved to be long enough for an ape! I am 5'3, 138 lbs. usually take a PL or reg. medium in Bean clothes, but that depends on the design and style. No princess seaming!

Rated 5 out of 5 by ladyshepherd very comfortable and flattering shirt
I bought this shirt a couple of months ago and I have had opportunity to wear it several times. It is comfortable and fits well. It also looks good on. I am 5.5' and 145 lb. and I got the medium and it is a good fit. The fabric is soft but seems to hold it's shape and I love the pin tuck pleats at the front as they seem to give it a more flattering fit.
I may order another.
