I bought the adjustable waist and found them to be tighter than the other styles which fit much better. Buying LLBean products for many years and find that the older, and past smaller sizes, fit better! I do check the size chart and that does not help.

I ordered a size 14 as I have always worn. I love the feel and weight of these shorts BUT they were way to large in the waist and all over...I was going to send them back but my husband who is 4 inches taller and 30 pounds heavier is wearing them for his golf shorts! The tag definitely says size 14! Must be mislabeled. Would love to have these shorts but afraid to reorder.

I ordered these shorts in a size 12, black, and I was very pleased with them. They fit me perfectly and after I washed them there was no shrinkage.

I bought a pair of these shorts a couple of years ago and I LOVE them! They are stylish and comfortable, and the original fit suits my figure.
Just this summer, I took them on a 10-day vacation and wore them almost every day. They held up well--the comfort waist was easy to wear, and any wrinkles they got from sitting in the car hung out overnight. The longer length made them appropriate for hiking as well as walking around in cities.
I am just hoping that LL Bean will offer more subtle colors--maybe dark gray, olive drab, sage green, brown, denim. And maybe they could also offer this style--with the hidden comfort waist--in long pants, too--I'd buy them!

The style of these shorts were the worst fitting shorts I have ever tried on. Do not buy these shorts if you have a protruding tummy because the pockets pull out big time. Sorry to say, but had to return these shorts. I guess I cannot order clothes on line.

These shorts use to be the Classic Curvy style that fit me perfectly in my normal size. I ordered my normal size, exchanged them for a larger size, then just asked for a refund. Everything was fine; you didn't need the expandable waistband. I can definitely notice a difference from wearing my older shorts. I don't understand why LLB changed a good thing. Not everyone has the same figure. I'll give your shorts another shot, I just hope you don't mind all the exchanges (refunds) I'll be doing. I hope you didn't change the cut of your Bayside Twill Pants. Please bring back the Classic Curvy!!

The old style of Bayside shorts fit perfectly! The Comfort Waist elastic makes the pockets gap! Bring back the old style...any products with the comfort waist are officially on my "do not buy" list!

Rated 4 out of 5 by OlderInPurple These, and also....?
These are staples for me, great for gardening, comfy and with big pockets. I really, really wish they also came in the exact same thing but with the legs tapered to 20" around the bottom hem instead of the 24" that these are. That would feel a bit sleeker for casual wear off-property. I measured the 20" circumference on some other shorts I have that I DO wear off-property. But they don't have pockets or the comfort waist, and I would love to have both in shorts with a sleeker line..

These shorts are too tight in the crotch.I've never had this problems with pants and shorts I've ordered from Bean before---perhaps a different supplier or pattern was used?
The only way I can make these shorts comfortable is too pull them down as far as I can, which defeats the purpose of getting the original fit. I'll probably keep them and hope the crotch seam eases up with wear.
Of lesser concern is that the fabric is very light.
I've shopped at LL Bean since January 1 1982, and this is the first item I've been disappointed in. Hope it isn't the start of a trend.
