These poles fold down into three small sections, which makes it easy for airline travel (finally!). Perfect for when your trail is far from home. Also convenient for carrying your poles on trail sections that require the use of your hands for climbing--it's so much easier to stow shorter pole sections on the go.
They're super strong and have lasted hundreds of rugged trail miles in the Grand Canyon, the Appalachian trail, and the Austrian Alps. I've fallen on the trail and the poles have briefly taken my full weight while I righted myself. They're still perfectly straight and intact.
The first hundred miles or so, the black stuff from the handles kept rubbing off onto my hands but this finally stopped after a while. I have permanent teeth marks from where a mouse chewed the handle in a shelter on the AT. The mouse took only a few bites and the handle has never deteriorated further, showing what good quality they're made of.
I find I don't miss adjustable poles even on steep hills anymore; it's just not an issue. Unlike adjustable poles, these poles are quickly deployable--just snap them into place and go. No more fiddling with pole height every time you get them out.
The thing I like best about the poles, tho, is the light weight. They're amazing! The weight savings make a huge difference over the course of a long hike.
One thing that drove me absolutely nuts until I got used to it was the small size of the baskets. They're just the right size to get caught in between rocks, under tree roots, and holes on the trail. I finally gave up and cut the baskets off so I just have pole tips. Now the poles might slip through cracks and holes but the little baskets don?t catch on the way out. There are no replacement baskets available but I found that I don't need the baskets unless I'm hiking in deep muddy conditions (then I'm out of luck). Otherwise I would have given five stars.

The first set of these poles I had to send back because the right pole didn't lock into position when extended. These poles are nice and light and collapse easily. The big problem is that they are not adjustable. I'm 5'1 and the 110 cm are perfect for my height. They are not however, if you fall between that and 5'7. Very odd that you can't adjust them. My advise is to try them first.

Rated 2 out of 5 by ILovestheBean Great poles. Poor straps.
Took these for a hike up Mount Washington NH last week. Did not have heavy gear. Maybe 5 pounds of gear and water on my back.
When I hike, I use the straps on the poles to support some of my weight.
The strap on one pole started to rip about half way through the hike.
Otherwise the poles are great. Amazingly light but with plenty of strength. I really like the fixed length. They are very easy to collapse and store in my pack. Much more convenient than my old Leki poles.
(However, the straps on my old Leki poles are perfect even after 17 years of use.)
