Did a hiking tour of Normandy in this shoe and at the end I was as comfortable as the day I bought the shoe. Hiking 3 to 6 miles as day I will never buy a different shoe. I also love the way the laces tie with all metal slides for easy adjustment. It's like the laces are on rollers. Well worth the money.

Love these Salomon hiking boots. They're so lightweight I feel like I can run down the trail, yet they're comfortable with a 25lb pack. They have a rigid footplate that protects from jagged rocks but they flex like a running shoe. The grip is fantastic, even on slickrock coated with pea-size gravel (the bane of hikers' existence in the desert Southwest). Unlike many Solomon shoes, these are compatible with gaiters that need an under-foot strap. They have a roomy toe box and a heel cup that allows zero movement--just perfect. These are so comfortable I don't bother bringing camp shoes on short backpacks. The one drawback is breathability; these just don't breathe we'll. It's no fun hiking in "swampy" socks. I wonder if the non-Gortex version breathes any better. Anyway these are best for cool weather hikes.

I got these boots as a valentines day gift from my boyfriend. We are both scouts and love hiking. I have a pair of old boots that do not fit properly. I tried these on and they fit like a glove. I have small slightly narrow feet, so it is difficult to find shoes that fit properly. I ran up and down the stairs and they sole is stiff with little torsion, and there was almost no slippage inside the shoe. My feet stayed in the same place, and my ankles were well supported. These are also the most comfortable boots I have ever worn, hands down.
I recommend these boots for anybody who hikes frequently, and even as running shoes for those with ankle issues such as myself. They are light, comfy, and grip excellently.
