Rated 4 out of 5 by lovethebirds Useful jacket but flawed
I really wanted this jacket to work for me, a breathable but rain resistant jacket for the summer. Problems with sizing, too tight across shoulders and sleeves, marginal room at the hips. For summer use, this would make it uncomfortable to wear and not possible to wear with any additional layer such as Fitness Fleece in Spring or Fall. Fabric problems, very wrinkled after careful delicate cold wash and not too much time in the dryer. It is very difficult to iron due to the multiple seams and segments of fabric in the styling and I gave up trying. Sorry LLB, I eventually decided to return it as I wouldn't get the use from it to make the purchase worthwhile.

I just received this jacket and love it. I ordered a size up because I wanted a little bit of an oversized look. Ash color is very earthy and a great neutral. Nice lightweight, sturdy material, and looking forward to seeing how it goes on a misty morning walk. Appreciate the big pockets and zip front under the button placket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by grandmaofAanl Just what I needed.
I bought this last fall on sale, got the Ash. I have to say that the color is sometimes taupe, sometimes more grey, depending on the light, but it goes with most everything. I like that it is unlined as I have worn it in wet but warm weather. I am 5'4", 135# and I got the medium which fits fine, enough room under it for another light layer. Haven't washed it yet so I don't know how that will go. My only tiny complaint is that the facing in the back wouldn't lay flat so I have tacked it to the seam. Not a big deal.

Have Indigo +Sandbar in size Reg. small. nice sturdy material.
True to size with room to move, Petite small was tight in shoulders, and I wear Beans small or petite tops, just depends..
Anyway,, LOVE this jacket,!,, wears well in spring, summer and fall, layer according to temps with a fleece or light sweater,, it is Sharp looking, and can handle a misty rain .. tons of pockets and a ribbon belt to make it a nice look on the waist.
Don't miss out !!

I loved the weight and quality construction of this canvas parka but the fit across the shoulders was tight and across the body too wide. I'm 5'6" and 150lbs, I ordered a size M. Not flattering on me and I would say I have average shoulders and an average hourglass-ish figure. Cinching the drawstring didn't help with the boxy width because the drawstring is placed so high. I was cinched at nearly my ribs - strange cut. I also agree with the reviewers who questioned the placement of pockets at the bust. ?? Nice coat construction (if "unique" design), just not flattering on me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by evgeneia Very unflattering
I've been looking at this jacket for a while-it's very nice in the pictures! When it went on sale, I purchased one in Ash.
First, Ash looked like a deep taupe on my computer screen--but in person was closer to chocolate. The bigger issue though was the fit--very unflattering for my my body style (pear). I ordered a size up (XL) after reading many reviews about narrow shoulders and upper body fit.
The coat is not a long as I'd hoped--it hit me mid-hip, and I'm 5'6. The arms and upper body fit just fine, but the coat looked baggy and too unstructured through my waist and hip area--giving me a marshmallow with a cinched waist area kind of appearance. Definitely NOT attractive. Plus the shorter length accentuated my hips--again, not the look I'd hoped for.
This one was a return...

Rated 5 out of 5 by sweatersavvy Good-looking lightweight parka
I ordered this parka in the grey-brown, and am pleased to say the color of the parka is the same as is shown on my computer screen. The canvas fabric is softer than I'd expected, which is good, and I did not find the shoulders to be too small as some customers had. I am 5'8", 160 lbs. and the large fits me very well.

Almost returned it because of the 'too high' cinch waist. I noticed only one other person mentioned this. I tend to be short wasted with long legs at 5'4'' and the waist is too short on me. Also, I have long arms and the jacket's arms are long on me. But there is a second button to tighten the wrist which helps the situation. I got a medium, my regular size with most things. Except for the high cinch, the jacket looks really nice. Love the ash #brownish# color and remainder of styling. It has a lot of style. As others do, I find the shoulders feeling tight, but that doesn't show on the outside. I like the idea of 'cotton' with waterproofing. Synthetic makes me hot. It looks nice both with a thin layer and when adding a heavy fleece underneath. It still closes nicely without looking stuffed when wearing the fleece. Definitely recommend.

I needed to replace a jacket and I looked everywhere, both on-line and in stores, when I found this one at LL Bean. I ordered the indigo and it is a lovely shade of smoky blue. The jacket is comfortable and I have room for a light sweater underneath. The attached hood has a drawstring so it won't blow off in the wind, and the zipper is a sturdy metal one. The bound buttonholes on the storm flap impressed me, as most jackets have machine-made buttonholes. The seams on the inside are all bias-bound for a nice finish. I've worn the jacket in light rain and the fabric does a good job of repelling water. I know I will enjoy this jacket for a long time.

Rated 2 out of 5 by CZYT Akward fit
I loved the Dark Russet color as well as the details of the pockets. But I quite disappointed with the fit. I'm 5'3'', 125 lbs, and athletic build; I ordered the Petite XS, which fitted my shoulder and arm length nicely. Yet, as with all canvas jackets, the fit is naturally stiff. Therefore, raising my arms felt uncomfortable. Also, this jacket created an inflated silhouette for me as I zipped it up. I could navigate that using the cinch waist, but also it made me look bulky and boxy. Had to return.
