Rated 1 out of 5 by Profshopper Used to be Great
Have owned a couple of these over the years, decided it was time for a new one, same size XXL, arrived today, and it is way too small in the body, and arms, compared it to my old one and it is several inches smaller. Not sure what size chart the manufacturer is using? If you wear an XXL, it will not fit you.....

Rated 1 out of 5 by nochecero They ruined a great product
I have previously owned two of these, size extra large, and they fit perfectly. Just received this new version in the mail and just as other have stated the sizing on this has changed drastically; it is now too tight. My last one was just stolen this week so I've worn it a lot lately and could immediately feel/see the difference. Don't fix what isn't broken LL Bean.

by Cleburne Nice material but an oddly tight fit & long arms.
For every other LL Bean top I've purchased, I fit comfortably into a men's medium. However, I had to return the medium trail fleece pullover because it was too tight in the chest and shoulders. Reordered a large, fits better in the chest/shoulders, but now have to roll up the sleeves 4". Pattern based on an orangutan? So add a $20 tailoring bill to the price. OTOH, I like the warmth of Polartec 200 wt fleece.

Rated 5 out of 5 by jlmiaa Wears like iron
I have owned one of these for 10 years or so, and while it is beginning to show it's age, it still has years of hard wear still in it. It's not fancy or fussy, but there is nothing I'd rather pull over my head on a damp, chilly day in the Shenandoah back country. I appreciate the traditional, roomy fit, and the zippered front pocket lies above my pack hip band, but below the shoulder straps. I pray L.L. Bean keeps stocking this, as I will want a replacement in a few years.

Rated 1 out of 5 by KeithInBoston Too bad about the sizing change
Received this as a holiday gift, but as others have mentioned, the construction has changed resulting in the sizing being completely different than before. New one is WAY too tight across the chest. Have three others from previous gifts, all in XXL that fit perfectly (they are my go-to casual warm tops) but this one will be going back. Why the change guys?

I have had 2 of the 1/4 zip fleece pullovers for years and I loved them. I wanted to buy another. The new style is so much different, it's almost unwearable. I bought the same size as i had in the past and found it to be way too tight. I returned it and bought the next bigger size. This too was uncomfortably tight. The zipper, the elastic cuffs, and the fit of the old style were perfect. The new style has none of these. I will return the 2nd one I just bought and look elsewhere. In the meantime I will continue to wear my old ones and dream of days past.

Rated 5 out of 5 by VABeachGirl Perfect layering piece!
Since the ladies version is no longer available, based on another review I tried the Men's version. Happy! Ordered a small (usually a 8-10) and it is a trim fit but has room to layer. Nice fleece inside & out and of course, love the pockets, which the "updated" ladies version does not have.

Rated 2 out of 5 by LuvsWinter Nice Pullover But Too Tight
I should have listened to the previous reviewers' comments about the tight fit. I've bought many of these pullovers in the past as I work outdoors. I've always been able to fit a sweater underneath and still have freedom of movement. But these new fleece pullovers seem to be designed for an extremely small body frame. Even in just a tee-shirt, the fit is snug even though I ordered XXL, just in case. I just returned the garment for a XXL Tall size and hope that will help. The Trail Model fleece pullover used to be my go-to fall, winter, and spring outerwear. Unfortunately, I think its time to investigate what other outdoor stores carry in the fleece department. Sorry, LL Bean!

I love the Trail Model Quarter Zip Pullover. More specifically, I love the Trail Model Pullover of days gone by. 1) Bring back the elasticized waist. 2) Bring back the elasticized wrists. 3) Bring back the "Quarter ZIP" and get rid of the buttons. With the collar standing up, the buttons are too heavy and cause the collar to fall down. Furthermore, the zipper is infinitely adjustable to the perfect position while the buttons are not. The buttons are terrible. Terrible... 4) Bring back the Mt. Katahdin logo (like you have for the sweater version), not only for the Trail Model Pullover, but for all LLB outerwear. I am a 40+ year LLB customer and want to proudly wear your logo. I don't like the monochromatic stitched lettering that barely shows up. Mr. Bean would want all of his customers to be proudly wearing his name as a symbol of mutual loyalty and pride. I am still wearing the Trail Model Polartec 200 Pullover I bought 25 years ago and it has a lot of miles left on it. For variety though, I feel like buying a new one, but I probably won't until you bring back the features I've mentioned above. My 5 star rating applies to my 25 year old version of this product.
