I purchased a Trail Model fleece jacket a few years ago. The fit of the current version is much more slim than ?traditional?. All four zippers are now the same small gauge, with no wind flap under the front zipper. The cuffs are not elastic. Please bring back the original jacket that was perfect for virtually any use. I wore out my original and thought this was going to be a replacement.. Sorry.. I have to return, too small yet is the same size as my first one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by HubCity Warm, but it sheds fibers.
For perspective, I presently own 2 LL Bean Trail model fleece garments, one jacket and one vest, in addition to 2 fleece garments from a competing brand.
I generally find fleece to be an enjoyable light-to-mid weight layer that is warm, thin, and relatively water-resistant. This jacket is a nice length, with good pockets and smooth zippers. Overall, I prefer the fit and appearance of this LL Bean fleece jacket over my other fleece jacket. Having worn this jacket for a year or so now, I can state that it is warm and performs as well as expected.
In the time I've owned this jacket, I have two complaints. First, the jacket fits my torso nicely (5'9" ~180#, size M jacket), but the sleeves are slightly too long for my preference. If the cuffs were elastic or had some form of adjustment, it would be a non-issue. The second issue bothers me much more. This jacket (as well as my LL Bean Trail Model fleece vest) sheds tiny fibers everywhere. I noticed this the first few times that I wore this fleece, but I thought that with some wear, and a few washes, it would cease shedding. This has not been the case. The inside of my truck has tiny, bright red, fibers everywhere. Occasionally, one of these shed fibers gets in my eye, which is unpleasant. Shedding of this nature has not been an issue with my fleece garments of another brand.
Hopefully LL Bean can resolve the shedding issues, because otherwise this is a nice fleece jacket at an very attractive price. As it is, the continued shedding is causing me to consider returning this fleece.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Blackhawksfan10 Charcoal Heather Trail Model-- soft, warm, great!
Very comfortable jacket to wear indoors and out, on its own or layered under a Pathfinder Soft-Shell Jacket for those really windy and cold days. The fleece is very soft, and zippers + pockets are nice and durable. The fit is spot on for me--as a slight build individual (5' 6" 150lb) I purchased a Small and haven't encountered any issues with long sleeve shirts bunching as mentioned in other reviews.
Another satisfied LL Bean purchase.

My husband is always cold so I purchased this light weight jacket for him to wear in the house. He commented that "it is the best jacket he has ever owned" and does wear it constantly. I think the high collar adds overall comfort.

I?ve purchased a number of your Trail Model fleece jackets over the years. The fit of the current version is more slim than ?traditional?. All four zippers are now the same small gauge, with no wind flap under the front zipper. The cuffs are not elastic or fabric covered. Returned it. I hope you will bring back the original jacket that was perfect for virtually any use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by deh2207 Problem fit over long-sleeve shirts
This is a nice fleece jacket unless worn over long-sleeve shirts. The fleece sticks to long-sleeves and "bunches up." The fleece material snags shirt sleeves. The resulting fit tends to look messy.
The jacket really needs to be redesigned with a thin lining to enhance the fit.

Rated 3 out of 5 by PaulTLLBean Too Tight Under The Arms
Looked well made and felt comfortable, but too tight under the arms. I ordered a large which usually is ok on me for most shirts and jackets. I'd say this is a slim fit vs traditional. Getting the size up would result in a jacket too long. Returned it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Milrose13 Great Jacket
Bought this in an Bean Store somewhere around Bergan County, NJ almost 2 years ago. I live in California on the Central Coast not on the East Coast. I purchased a Men's Regular Large in Bright Navy Blue. I wear about a 43 size coat and usually large shirts if not too full. I am 5'10' and weigh in at about 170 lbs. This fits very well with enough room to put on over a long sleeve shirt or light sweatshirt. The color is a very bright blue--not navy. I like the fit, and the colors. It has zippers on two outside pockets, and one left chest pocket. Cell phones, glasses, etc. will not fall out. There are also two inside pockets-left and right, approximately 7" wide by 9" deep #tall#, no zippers. This is full zip with nylon teeth and metal zipper. Nice collar and thankfully no hoody. It is fairly warm and great in 55 to 70 degree weather just over a shirt or T-shirt. I take it off at about 74 degrees as it gets a little warm. It goes through my clothes washer and dryer very well and retains its shape. The sleeves are about 44" and could be cuffed if necessary--probably not by LLBean. I think I will purchase another as it is a great, light weight jacket and my wife likes it--very important!
