by FootheFighter The old style was better
I bought this sign back in November/December of 2012 for my room mate and myself depicting each of our hometowns. My roommate has since moved out and with a new roommate to replace him, I thought it would be nice to get for him another matching sign depicting his hometown. I was extremely disappointed to see that LLBean has decided to change the design of the sign from 2 years ago. The new design will not match with my sign. I will echo the sentiments of others that this new design is aesthetically inferior to the previous design and would urge LLBean to bring back the old design.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Creativegifter Great idea for wedding
A sign for the hometown of the bride and the groom is a great way for them to remember their roots as they start their new life together. Of course a sign for their new hometown together completes the set! Personal and much appreciated. They look fantastic and are a good conversation starter too.

by CDezLowe No! Bring back the previous signs!
As a military spouse, we have bought these for each duty station, including Germany...and we love them! I was attempting to order one for our current station in South Korea. However, now they have changed and are all capital letters, as well as not allowing for international cities. I am so disappointed! Please allow us to order the previous style!! Please!??

Rated 1 out of 5 by TravelingMilitary Bring back old style!
We've been purchasing these signs over the years for every duty station. They are perfect and I get many compliments on them. Unfortunately, I will have to find a new way to display our travels. This new design is quite bland. Also, putting the new design under 6 signs of the old design looks tacky. Very disappointed in this change. Bring back the old design! Or sell them both!

The signs that LL Bean had previously were much more appealing for hanging on a wall. These are very plain and have no design to the script like the old style did. The older style also had a nice boarder, very disappointed. Look very boring on a wall.

by MilitaryTraveler Dissapointed-New design leaves a lot to be desired
I have seven other LL Bean custom signs from past duty stations. Three more in the "new" format arrived - and although upper and lower case was specified - and the state requested to be spelled out (description states up to 14 characters for the state) - the City was in all capital letters and the state was not spelled out. Very poor attention to detail by LL Bean. The "new" design moves the latitude / longitude to a third line - not on the right side of the sign.
The changes are really not "improvements".

Love gifts or things for the home that are personal and tell a story about the people that live there, this is one of those items.
I ordered a red sign with our village information and have it on our large front porch. A friend ordered a sign from their hometown for her out of state college son and another friend ordered one sign for each duty station served in their 25 year military career.
Material of sign lends itself to inside areas for best results. I do keep mine on our covered front porch most of the year but do bring it indoors during the cooler, wet winter. 5 STARS.

Got two of these as a Christmas gift this year - so wonderfully made and I like the shade of red and blue of the ones we were given. Going to add a third in the green shade, just wish they had a yellow or a beige in the color options!

Good quality as usual. Bought 4 different towns for daughter who has lived in four different places in her life. Wish they had more colors and would do international cities
