Rated 3 out of 5 by GmaChelle Wanted to love 'em
I really wanted to love these pants. I've been looking for a hard core pair of pants for winter that would be fun and easy to care for. These pants however, have not lived up to snuff. The first pair shrunk. I returned them and got the tall version. Still a lot of shrinkage even though I followed the washing instructions to the letter. The other thing is that these pants attract every dust particle in the air known to man and I feel like a lint splotch right out of my dryer vent. I am going to return this pair too. So sorry this hasn't worked out!

Rated 5 out of 5 by HappeeCamper Nice fit and warm
I grabbed these a few months back because it's rare to find outdoor gear designed for tall women. I had to guess on the size because Sporthill apparently thinks providing only a waist measurement for women's garments is sufficient. I'm normally wear a size 10 or 12 with a 34"-35" inseam. The medium fits me well (despite my hips) and the length is excellent with winter sport boots, though a tad short with street shoes.
With our recent snowfall, I was finally able to use these pants for some snowshoeing. I wore longjohns underneath, and they kept me nice and warm. The stretch allows for freedom of movement and a great fit!

Rated 5 out of 5 by beraksmom Thank you LLBean
for offering winter pants in LONG sizes. Bought these this winter and love them. I really appreciate the fact that the waist is not that stupid low-rise that may look nice, but in fact does nothing but lets a big draft up your back. I wanted pants that were warm and fit well, long enough etc and these are perfect. I do wear silk long underwear on very cold days and the pants fit fine over that.
Please continue to remember that not all women want that ultra-low waist and we need long legs too!

This is the second time I bought Sporthill. First time was a sale at the LLBean store and I bought mens for the length. This time I noticed there were long womens in catalogue and they fit great. I was thinking my first pair were a bit warmer, but not sure. Maybe they were a different warmth from the Traverse pants. Chicago is so cold, wear these when I walk the dogs.

I love these pants. They are comfortable and warm. After I wore them for a few days, I contacted a friend who is also always cold, and suggested that she consider them. I have washed them and am happy to say that they launder perfectly. The fit is also perfect.

The cut and fabric is very comfortable and fits well. However, I did not find these pants to be warm enough for what I need. I live in Michigan and hoped for x-country/walking pants that would keep me warm without the bulk of layering. In 30 degree weather with no wind, my legs became uncomfortably cold. Adding a pair of long underwear with the same weather conditions did not help. I returned them.

I have an older Reg.length/rise version of these pants and they were always just set a wee too low on my waist for snow-sport comfort IMO. Now, w/Bean's newer option of these pants in the Long these already perfect pants for my winter needs are now Perfect Plus! The extra length and higher rise are so much more comfortable when bending, climbing and just overall shoeing or x-country-ing.
Would recommend these highly. The feel so comfy, warm w/o need for any base layer unless temps dip to low 20's or it's super blustery. If need arises, I'll wear silk or lightweight Thermaskin underneath. But mostly I won't need either. These pants are just that warm. Never wrinkle or look sloppy. No binding, No "crotch pinch" (ladies know what I mean). Look more like trousers than tights. Nice side slash pockets, too. Only one wish might be if they came w/a drawstring at the cuffs to keep out cold air. But if you're wearing either gaiters, tall or ankle-high boots or have long socks on underneath, then it's a non issue.
I'm 5'8" approx. 120 and got these in Med only because I wanted the elastic waist as loose as possible. Otherwise a small might have been okay. Get these!

I bought a pair of these two years ago, and another pair last winter. they are the only pants I've found that making walking outdoors during the winter bearable. I'm from Michigan, and we get very cold winters. The pair that is two years old is holding up well - some pilling, but nothing to fuss about. The fit is good.
