I purchased this jacket for work and to replace one that had seen better days. The jacket is very light, but warm. I like the zippers on the main exterior pockets, as well as the dual zipper action on the jacket. I have worn the jacket outside on mid-20 degree nights at work. The literature says that it is good to 15 degrees and I think that is accurate. I haven't used it in the rain or snow, but expect it shed the moisture.

It's very light for a coat that is warm, and has a hood hidden in the collar. I like that it's longer than the waist length coats that I've had
previously. As the temperature plunges in the coming weeks, I'll be
happy to be warm down to my legs. I'm very pleased with this purchase!

My son really likes this LLBean winter coat. It's light and warm. The length, fit, and style is perfect. It's going to be his favorite coat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Aloysious Great Winter Coat TC290691
Winter 2015 has been the real test of a winter coat. This coat has exceeded all expectations in the deepest cold (-10o) and the highest snow (over 4'). Snow blowing in such conditions tests both the coat and the man. The coat passes, not so sure about the man! The hood, the deep pockets, the full insulated lining, and the coat length were all just right.

Rated 2 out of 5 Good but too far from the best
It's a nice thing. Not extra warm but good enough for 14-40 t F.
But some issues spoil everything.
1. Zipper connects on a wrong - left side. Is it women or for left-handed style?
2. Heat insulating material comes through inner seams.
3. Fabric frays through on sleewes' edges within 2 month. That's the first time in my life.

The coat is light in weight and warm - good insulation. Easy to put on.
The zipper was a problem - lining from side opposite to the storm flap would get stuck in zipper. My inventive wife sewed a seam parallel to zipper that secured the lining in place and this has prevented the lining-in-the zipper issue.
Please consider this simple change to this jacket and, perhaps, also consider a using larger gage zipper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Teddymeister A Great Lightweight Functional Warm Coat
This is a great versatile coat. I intentionally bought one size larger to accommodate layering and that was a good decision. It is amazingly comfortable, light and warm. It fits well over a vest. And, for the first time in years, I have a coat that fits well over a sports jacket! Even though the hood is not insulated, it's ok when wearing a hat, blocking out the wind. I also like how the hood can be stowed away in the collar, adding to its lightweightedness. It's a perfect raincoat windbreaker. The water beads off like off a duck's back. All in all, it's a plain, lightweight, functional but stylish coat. The one disadvantage is that there is no option to button the coat. It can only be zippered closed.

I purchased this for my teenage son. He likes it; it's more than warm enough for him even on the coldest days (single digits).
