Rated 1 out of 5 by BigDogsRule ripped at heel, much too soon
I bought 6 pairs of these lightweight chino socks this fall (12 socks total). So far I've had to throw 6 of the 12 away because they ripped just above the heel (where the knitting transitions from the reinforced heel area to the leg). The socks were size XL, which is supposed to be for shoe sizes 12-15. I wear a 13, so at the lower end of this size range.
NOTE: I also bought some midweight chino socks, which are still going strong.

These are not just excellent for the money, they are excellent period. They are well very well constructed and the fit is right on. I had recently thrown away all of my old socks and replaced them with a premium brand sold at department stores. They became threadbare within a year. These socks can handle a long shift on your feet. The cushioning is very, very good.
I have had a full stock of these socks for at least four years now and they are in as good as new condition. They have only pilled a little bit, which is no complaint considering I put a beating on them. They are not too hot as I am sitting in 96 degree weather as I write this and have been working in them for the last five hours. I wear these socks every day to work, regardless of how I am dressed that day. If you want a serious quality sock for a reasonable price you have found your item here. Also I can buy anything from L. L. Bean and not worry about it because of the outstanding warranty. That certainly plays into my decision on what to buy, although I have never had to use it.

Although I am female, I always wear LL Bean Men's socks because of their superior quality and fit. These were not a disappointment. They fit perfectly and I love the funky narrow stripes on one of the pairs. Between us, my husband and I must have about 150 pairs of LL Bean socks in use for all 4 seasons of the year. Even though we live in Canada, we never pass a LL Bean store in the US without stopping to pick up some socks! Of course, we get other great clothing at LL Bean but the socks are perfect.

Someone must have been after free goods. These socks stay up 100%, and in addition have a very nicely shaped and built heel so they actually fit and do not slide around. They are slightly stretchy, which gives a nice feeling of support without being obtrusive. They are a tad long in the toe, but that extra length easily crinkles up and disappears. My general feeling is that these socks are better "constructed" and built than others.

Hands down the best dress sock I have found. I have several pairs of the mid weight version and unfortunately only one pair of the lightweight variety. After testing the mid weight over a winter and a trial pair of lightweights I needed to order several pair but found they were out of stock the latter part of 2013 into the early part of 2014. Great news that a product I need is now available! Bad news is I am forced to purchase a striped version as part of a two pack. This I will not do. Please, bring these back as a single purchase item or if you have to do a two pack, at least get rid of the striped clown sock version!

Rated 5 out of 5 by gwaller8 Really like these socks
I have both the lightweight and midweight versions, and both are excellent. I was disappointed to learn that the navy version of this particular version includes a striped version in the two-pack. The striped pair looks really stupid and based on that I won't buy the navy. Who on earth wears socks like that? What a waste.

These are super warm comfortable socks without being bulky and ugly. I love them and now own 7 or 8 pair.

I expected the world from $12 socks, bottom line is that they dont stay up. They slip down into my shoe and bunch up in the arch. Terribly disapointing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by BeenHereAndThere Nice sock, soft and comfortable
I've been searching for the "perfect" travel sock. You know, the ones you can wash in the bathroom sink at night and they are dry in the morning. I must have tried a half dozen different types and manufactures with no success. LL's Chino socks did the job and were comfortable at the same time. I'll be ordering more.
