I've been looking for a light weight down jacket for a while and ran across this one. True to size. I worried it might rip, but wore it the entire season with no problems and it kept me waaaaaarm. It was great in the car too because it did not restrict my movement. I priced competitors for a while and nothing comes close to this price. A great buy.

I love my down jacket! Very light, packable for trips, and warm. Abundance of zippered pockets make it a wonderful travel necessity.

I have ordered a man?s ultra light dawn coat for a gift. I was very happy to receive a package at time but, I was so disappointed when I opened it. It is a nice jacket but sleeves are almost 5 inches longer then it supposed to be according to LL Bean?s size chart. It is obvious misrepresentation.!
I have ordered size Large with sleeves measuring 34-35 inches and I got almost 40!!! In size chart even for tall man size XXL sleeves measurement is 38 inches. I was not able to exchange the item because it?s out of stack now. I had to return the coat and start to look for another gift. I am very disappointed and upset. It was my first experience with LL Bean and definitely the last one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by northernIN Great Jacket!
I bought these coats for my teenagers as we were going skiing in mid-Michigan near Christmas. Sizing was as described. Coats were awesome. Great warmth, windbreak, and overall comfortable, flexible. Great to wear in snow, wind, or just plain cold around the mid-west and Michigan/Chicago weather. Looks stylish too. Fun to pack up in the pocket/stow away. Great to keep in the car 'just in case' you get stuck somewhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by sspohn1732 Comfortable, warm and great fit!
This jacket is lightweight and doesn?t constrict your body whether one is standing up or sitting down. For colder days, when I?ve had to throw on another jacket over this one I never had issues with breathability or getting too warm as long as I didn?t fully zip up the jacket. The inside pocket that can be used to pack up the jacket is an overlooked feature that is good for those who are outdoors that get too hot easily when performing activities outside. This jacket has some wind resistance to lower winds and is great to wear for sitting outside even if one is just sitting around outside at a sporting event. Wore this jacket to a baseball game where the temperatures were in the 40s, there were about 10 mph winds out, and I felt good the entire game until the sun went down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Agingcyclist Light weight and warm
I was delighted at the weight of the jacket when I received it. There were some mixed reviews which I read after I bought it, that object to -30 degree rating. I was skeptical as to its warmth. NYC in February has been quite cold, single digits and teens. I tried both my old parka and the Ultralight on the same day. Neither was perfect, but the Ultralight was as warm as the puffer. With a fleece I was as comfortable as I could be in the low teens with eyes and nose running.
I think it is a great coat. No problem with cuffs or hood. I bike all over NYC and the bright color may keep me from being hit. It runs high up on the neck and in this weather more coverage is better. Moreover I adore its lightness and its stuff-ability. I imagine it will be comfortable most of the year.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Alohaguy packs very small, but extremely fragile
There are some good things about this jacket. It's extremely small and light. The way it stuffs up small and weighs so little means you can travel with a jacket without too much bulk -- and can even use it as a pillow. The deepest blue color is beautiful.
But the jacket is *extremely* fragile. So, it has no value for any outdoor activity. I was in the office and a coworker suggested a walk to a frozen waterfall.I just brushed up against a tree and I got three holes with the down coming out. The material would not be easy to repair. So, it's a light 'emergency' jacket, but if you have to use it in an emergency, you'll probably wreck it.
If you want to stay warm going on walks on sidewalks or going from car to buildings, it's great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by virginiasteve great , light jacket
Really like the ultraliight 850 down jacket,so much so that I bought a second. One I use for hiking and flyfishing, the other for around town. With just a long sleeve t shirt I was warm down to 15 degrees. anything lower was pushing it. With a light fleece top and a tee shirt under it, I was able to fish and hike comfortably in close to 0 degree weather . I think the - 20degree rating they have for this product is way too generous but something as light as this working down into single digits is fine by me.

Was pleasantly surprised when I received the jacket within 2 days since the weather report was telling us that the wind chill would be -15. Wore it for two days now and as light as it is, kept me very warm. I did wear a pullover shirt and sweatshirt underneath, so it can be worn with layers. My only regret is that I should have bought the hooded version.
