I bought last year's model of the Ultralight, and I am impressed with the coat on many levels. I was skeptical, and did not think that this super light jacket would keep me warm without all the bulk and size of other jackets. It is very warm, as long as you layer up properly for the temp, and stay active. It is very comfortable, and true to size... I bought a large for my 6', 197 lb. frame, and I can comfortably layer up underneath. It is also made with very good quality. I like!

First for the positives. Very warm and lightweight for packing. Unfortunately I am writing this review fresh in from another disappointing quality issue that will leave me back at the store. This jacket is not worth the cost. My first one lasted for two day hikes before the seams fell apart and feathers escaped every time I moved. My second one has been with me on two day hikes and I have worn it about ten times for daily wear. The elastic in the cuffs has failed already! Extremely disappointed in the quality. It's not up to the standards of LLBean. I will be returning this second one and not replacing it again.

I tried it In 19░ and it was not at all warm enough. Also without a hood, cold gets in the neck.
It is not as warm as my Baxter State Park parka, by far.
It is not as warm as my Misses
Ultrawarm Hooded Jacket with faux fur.
It really is too expensive for the warmth it does not provide.
BTW, a man's small of this jacket fits a woman who wears a medium misses.

Rated 5 out of 5áby WBSobe Amazing warm light weight jacket
This jacket defies physics, it is incredibly light but intensely warm. My friends, family members can not get over how light and warm this jacket is. Sometimes it gets too warm in the car. I find myself not needing extra layers, wearing a hat or keeping the heat on long in the car. The jacket has great pockets a easily accessible sunglasses pocket. Has a stowaway pocket too which was extremely convenient on the way back from a winter trip to FL. While other passengers are fighting each other to put their winter coats in the over head compartment. All I had to do was put my jacket in the stowaway pocket, put it in my carryon, no problem. I chuckled to myself when the flight attendant made the announcement telling passengers to not place their winter jackets in the overhead bins due to taking up too much space. lol. This is the only winter jacket you need. Since it is LLBean it will be with you as long as you want it to. Thanks LLBean.

Rated 5 out of 5áby ColoradoHiker58 Warm, light, and a real bargain!
Gave this jacket to my son, who is a snowboarder, mountain biker, rock climber and all-around outdoorsman in southwestern Colorado. He absolutely LOVES this jacket. It's a great value at this price. Congratulations to L.L. Bean, they are really stepping up in terms of designing technical and crossover gear.

I have worn this jacket in a variety of weather conditions thus far, up to and including a windy and cold -10C (14F in your speak). It is ridiculously light and very comfortable. I purposely ordered the tall version so as to give that little extra warmth of length. I wear it by itself or over layers, depending on conditions of the day. I have not tried it in rainy conditions but feel confident the fabric and down will preform as stated. Another Beans quality jacket. I am not regretting this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Aredub Comfortable and Warm
This jacket is very light and very comfortable...slides on easily. Features--- like just the right zippers and waistcord are nice. It seems quite warm, especially when layers, With two shirt layers, this jacket, and an outer shell, skiing in 10 degrees was toasty. Not sure how it would do without the layers below and above, but my guess is it would still be pretty warm.
Workmanship seems excellent

COSY WARM, AND SOOO LIGHT WEIGHT, JUST THE RIGHT COMBINATION. I CAN MOVE FREELY WITHOUT ANY TIGHTNESS, NO GAPS FROM SLEEVES TOO SHORT, OR A DRAFT FELT UP FROM THE BOTTOM . FEEL AS IF I AM NOT WEARING ANY COAT AT ALL, YET AM TOASTY WARM. NO SWISHY SOUND WHEN WALKING ARMS SWINGING AT MY SIDE. LOVE THIS JACKET. THANK YOU LL BEAN!!

These jackets are awesome. I usually wear them under various shells. I'd like to see a vest version and add a grey or silver color to the line up also.

Received this for christmas and besides having to exchange for a different color I am happy with the a jacket.Originally had the gray with neon interior but I am just not a bright color person and the neon yellow bugged me.Exchanged for the dark blue. The jacket is extremely light and seems to be comparable to some of the more expensive name brand jackets.I am on the east coast and do not like a big bulky winter coat for our wimpy winters in MD and prefer layering. This jacket is perfect with a sweater and /or a vest. Not warm enough alone for the teens we are having right now but layered it is perfect. I will also be wearing it with a breathable rain shell when things get nasty.I also plan on using it as a layer on backpacking trips.I know that there are those that feel when you spend $300-$400 you always gets you what you pay for.But in this case $159 was close enough.LL bean did not chince on the materials used so check them out before you decide on the high dollar varietys.
