Rated 5 out of 5áby 2Old Traveler's Version of Classic Book Pack
While not aimed at travelers, certain features of the Deluxe Plus Book pack make it very appealing for frequent flyers:
(1) twin external mesh water bottle pouches keep water away from contents and don't require unzipping the pack (I use one pouch for a ski cap); (2) the fuzzy-lined internal zip pouch will take a 7" or 7.9" tablet; and (3) the laptop panel is my favorite place to stow a folded wind breaker (and yes, it will keep a laptop in place if that's what you prefer). -
The fat full size compartment holds my emergency layover clothing and other essentials. The skinny full size compartment holds my flat-folded fleece or thin-style down jacket. The secondary pouch's flat "office panel" holds pen, memo pad, keys, and phone. The secondary pouch itself is perfect for chargers. -
There's some great "minimalism" about this "book" pack. It's made of nylon, much tougher and abrasion resistant than polyester. The smooth surface (it's not roughed up to imitate canvas) repels pet hairs and fur. It's 420d not 210d, so its thick enough to skip a separate lining, thereby reducing weight. The polyurethane interior coating is the modern kind that doesn't stink or peel off. All the seams are bound to prevent fraying. Compared to the beating a student gives their Book Pack, your traveler's load should be easy peasy. I'm a 5'8" adult and the pack is "right size", which is to say not too small. -
At 21 ounces yielding 32 liters fabricated out of sturdy 420d nylon, I don't think there is a more cost effective and efficient "personal item carryon" daypack on the market.

Rated 4 out of 5áby Emmylou12 Great bag but a few to many pockets
I bought this for myself to use for school a few moths ago and it has held up great, (I'm not exactly very gentle on my bags). The only flaw is that in the largest compartment there are 2 smaller pocket things that are basically extra pieces of material on both edges of the compartment, while they are sturdy and helpful if you use folders and such but I use a large 3" binder and I find that it doesn't slide in as easily as it would if those weren't there as the bottom of the binder gets caught on those. Other than that it is a great bage with many pockets for organizing yet it is spacious and can fit a lot of stuff.

Rated 5 out of 5áby ChrisAndMilena first pack pack I had in years . . .
Husband bought it for me, he loves his LL Bean back pack and me. Forgot how convenient they are. What a great gift.
It nice and roomy, very good craftsmanship, vivid color and does not bother my back even when full. Like the lap top pocket and the hook for me keys.
Wish I had one to use as a diaper bag when kids were still babies.

We have bought several backpacks over the years and the ones from LLBean always last! This one is perfect for my 8th grader. It is very comfortable, roomy, and she loves the color!

My daughter chose this color for her backpack and couldn't have been more pleased with what she got! So much room for someone who has a lot to keep track of. The ear bud holes are nice and the pockets for her things are kept safely and are easily accessable

Rated 5 out of 5áby CommuterGal22 Great backpack for work!
This backpack is perfect for carrying my laptop to and from work. A large (17+ inch) laptop easily fits in the "secondary" compartment, and I can put my purse and other things in the "main" compartment. You can really fit a lot in this thing. Smaller compartments are great for badge, keys, cell phone, tablet, etc. It's lightweight but feels very sturdy. Zippers are smooth. I hope to use this backpack for many years.

Rated 2 out of 5áby Lauren1996 Great color, shape, enough space
This book bag is great! However, the zippers of the book bag get stuck on the material that covers them and then they break.

áby 2Old Budget travel pack: rectangular + sturdy + light
And colors for the traveler, too!
This bag makes a good "personal item" daypack for the same reason it is good for school books and binders: it is RECTANGULAR, not tear-drop shaped like most packs. The rectangular shape lets me use packing cubes, or bundle-wrap shirts and jeans together.
NYLON construction instead of cheaper, weaker, polyester means LONG LIFE. As attested to by kids abusing them with heavy books instead of light carry-on stuff!
+ 2/3 height laptop slot up to 15" laptop - the non-"Plus" model doesn't have one. I hope they start sewing this closed 1" above the ground to keep the laptop from hitting the floor on set-down.
+ Tablet pouch, not on non-"Plus" model - takes up to Mini-sized tablets, velour lined. Opposite laptop panel.
+ 2/3 height drop-in panel on side opposite from laptop (and under the tablet pouch).
+ Wear-resistant reflector panel (good for adults walking country roads!) has protective overlay with holes to prevent reflector abrasion.
+ Dual full-height compartments - overnight clothes in main, jacket in secondary.
+ Office panel in 1/2 height exterior-most compartment takes pens, phone, snacks.
+ Dual mesh water bottle slots are made of thicker material than competition; gusseted for plenty of room at the bottom, elastic band at opening. Probably more secure for gloves and watchcap than slick bottles, though.
Padding ONLY on the back panel helps keep weight down.
All in all, $50 worth of goodness almost matches $200 custom travel packs.

Rated 3 out of 5áby Vic88 Water bottle falls out of mesh pockets
I really like the rectangular size and shape of this backpack. I need the extra space to store a water bottle, but many water bottle shapes I try falls out immediately when the backpack is picked up. If you could re-design the mesh pockets to actually hold a water bottle properly that would make it perfect!
