I received these boots as a gift, in the green vine print. I love the way they look, but the sizes run too large. I wear a solid women's size 9 in shoes. I spend lots of time doing outdoor activities for both work and home, and have been through many pairs of shoes and boots made for the outdoors. Size 9 fits me well, but these boots are way too large, more so in the length and ankle than the width. After reading the reviews about these boots cracking, I am hesitant to exchange them for a size 8 as I am not so sure they can withstand my use. I am not just going to be walking through wet grass in these.

Having purchased L.L. Bean products over a 30 year time span, I chose to rely on the L.L. Bean name rather than the negative reviews of this item. For the first time in my life, I am extraordinarily disappointed with a product. These boots are very comfortable. They also began breaking down after about a dozen times wearing them. The plastic outer coating has cracked at the break over between the foot and leg in numerous places on both boots, rendering them useless for the activities for which they were purchased, namely light wearing while watering barn animals and cleaning stalls. I wore them only a few times in the fall of 2013 when I ordered them before switching to tall, lined work boots (another brand). After just a few outings this spring in them--and never for any great length of time--they were already starting to split. By now (July 2014), they are no longer useful to me, which leaves me quite sad as they were a reasonable price and were very comfortable to wear while they were still intact. Heed the other negative reviews and do not buy these boots.

I am on my second pair of LLBean Wellies and unfortunately the second pair has cracked and split at the seams and in the ankle crease. Great little boots, but not if water can get inside.

I really love these boots but like so many other reviewers, both boots developed cracks at the front part of the ankle. I wear them to remove snow, which has been quite a bit this winter, and my feet get totally soaked.
I was going to come and buy a new pair, but I see folks have contacted LL Bean about replacements - I may do the same.
If this has been an issue for years, why hasn't LLB resolved the issue?
Other than this cracking, the boot is terrific - high enough to keep water/snow out and great traction - no slips in snow, ice or mud.
Just fix the cracking !!!

Too big inside the entire foot area- needs to be more snug to be stable and wear for more than a quick run outside. Liked the color.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Samosee Boots leak, not warm, DO NOT BUY
My boots (above) did not come in the color I ordered (and that color is gone less than 5 days later). I decided to keep them anyway. Wore them outside one day later (today) in slushy snow-- and potential buyers need to know
1) These boots leak a LOT in 1/2 inch of water and
2) they are NOT warm, even with wool socks--though the fact the socks were wet might have been a factor.

I generally love LLBean for their quality but I have to say these boots are poorly made. I was given the tall Wellington's as a gift for Christmas 2012 and didn't wear them until the following spring. Within a couple months they had cracked at the ankle. Figuring I had just gotten a bad pair I called LLBean who kindly sent me a new pair. Unfortunately, these did not fair much better and have again cracked at the ankle. I'd call again for a replacement but I see no point. Sad that Bean's has let their quality slip.

It's about a block from the parking lot to my office, so I bought these for rainy/slushy days. They're pretty, practical and comfortable?almost perfect. They fit perfectly over my thick wool socks (size 5.5 foot; size 6 boot). But, sadly, I have to return them -- the upper part is too tight for my calf, hence the "almost" qualifier. The inside measurement around the top is 13 5/8 inches; the inside height at the heel from the sole to the top is 9 1/4 inches. If only they were about an inch bigger around?.

A year ago I wrote a glowing review of these boots. I live in southern Maryland with two dogs. They are perfect for dog duty, and any "presents" from the yard wash off easily and quickly. I even wear then in the summer. They are comfortable - even if you pop them onto bare feet. They fit true to size and half sizes should order UP.
Last month I noticed that one of the boots had a crack/tear in the front at the ankle. I looked at the other boot, and it had one too. So they are no longer waterproof if I'm going through ankle deep puddles and might not work in a heavy rain. Still they do the trick for yard duty. I will have to be more careful when washing them because of the cracks. I don't want the inside to get wet.
So purchase with this caution. They may crack on you as well. I will probably contact Bean about a replacement pair if they have my size.

Purchased these 02/2012 in floral green to add to my now 3 pair outdoor wet wear collection. It doesn't rain a lot here, but I like the height because I am short and they are kind to the back of my knee. Recently I thought that I was getting water into them somehow but did not realize until the other day that the one is split on the seam and both are cracked above the instep. We are green here and don't use chemicals, thus not sure why this would happen though the split is obviously a product assembly failure. My first garden wellies lasted 25 years. The oldest pair I have presently are pushing 15 years still in service and looking good. These are a real disappointment though they look good, my feet are getting wet.
