I bought this jacket a few years ago, but lost it last year. I decided to get it again and when it arrived I realized that it had changed. The material is different. The outer layer feels like a thin sticky plastic and it is no longer figure flattering as it was in previous years. I'm very disappointed and I returned it. This was my favorite coat. I wish LL Bean would go back and make it like they used to.

I received this jacket as a birthday present this year, since I've needed a reliable winter coat for quite some time. According to my measurements I would have only just fit into the XL, and I was worried it'd be too tight, so I got the XXL size. However, when it arrived, I practically swam within it. It was so large it reached halfway down my thigh. This made the entire jacket unwieldy, so I quickly exchanged it. I received my new coat in three days! I got the XL, and when I put it on I was thrilled at the new fit. Snugger, but still had the ability to wear something bulky under it. I love how wind tight it is, which is a huge thing for me, and the 3-in-1 aspect is huge too. However, my only critique is it's not as warm as it's claimed to be. I live in NH and it's often windy and quite frigid, and sometimes it feels like the cold creeps in around the neck, even if you have the jacket zipped up entirely. I would like there to be a bit more padding in the neck of the internal coat, and same in the pockets. However, I am in love with this coat overall!

I am sorry to say this winter jacket was not what I expected or what seemed to advertised. The rating is for-30. But the outer shell is a rain jacket. Hood is not warm pockets are not warm. The inner lining MUST be worn; either by itself or with outer jacket. The problem with the inner lining is that is shorter and more encumbering. I was hoping to be able to wear the outer part alone because there would be more freedom to move and it is a little longer. I have shopped with llbean for a long time and this is the first time an item did not meet your very standard in my opinion

I love this jacket, but I bought a medium regular size (I am normally petite medium) and it runs a little big for me. Otherwise, I love it and also the fact that it is 3-in-1!

Its been cold here in New England with a giant wind chill. I've been taking the dog for a walk and stay totally warm in this jacket. It is on the big side - I would order a size down.

I have had this jacket for a couple of years and while the color is awesome, it's not my favorite jacket. It's too short to really keep you warm in Maine, and after a shorter period of time than I would have liked (1 winter), I noticed I would get a little wet if I was outside too long in a storm. And, it's bulky in the wrong places, which makes it tough to move around in. Kinda feel like a marshmallow

Recommending it would depend on what I was buying it for. I liked the option of wearing the interior part separate. And as a run-around mid-weight jacket/coat it would probably be OK. But for a winter coat in northern Michigan it wasn't going to be enough warmth for me. Too short in length. Also, it really needs the double zipper. When I sat down in it with the zipper up, the coat bunched up around the middle.

Bought this for my daughter. Color is beautiful but more important it is warm and light weight. My daughter loves it.

I bought this jacket for my mom who lives in Seattle, doesn't drive, and needs to walk with her canes to get around outdoors. (So she needs protection and visibility.) We were looking for something rain-proof and warm, with sturdy zipper pockets, and I wanted the coat to be bright.
I chose the light blue for visibility, and as it turns out, this is the loveliest color of the bunch! Here in the Pacific Northwest people wear so much gray and dark green that it's nice to have something with a little pop and this jacket does that.
We liked that the jacket came in Petite -- arm length a bit shorter for her, and sizing was perfect overall. I ordered her regular clothing size and the jacket came with a little extra "give" to fit over layers. My mom wears it even with a microtherm down vest underneath, although for me this would be too warm. The hood was adjustable with back and side drawcords.
My mom likes the zipper pockets (including inner pocket), although she can't reach the pocket on the upper sleeve because of her shoulders so for her a zipper on the forearm might have been more helpful.
Would love to see this jacket in more bright colors (like white, lime green.) The one-way front zipper is the only thing I would consider a negative.

I have been looking at these jackets for years. My husband has one and is very happy with his. So I finally ordered one for myself. I am very disappointed by this jacket. My husband's shell is nicely lined so he can wear it by itself. This jacket, on the other hand, has an unlined shell. The material is that sticky, waterproof kind. I cannot stand the feel of it on my skin. Even the pockets are unlined. The inside jacket is very nice but the lack of lining in the outer jacket was not acceptable for the price. I would never have worn the shell by itself. Sadly it had to go back.
