Rated 3 out of 5 by Jetpuffed I WANTED to love it!
This was my dream coat: windproof, waterproof shell, removable warm liner, gorgeous violet color, petite sizing...BUT I just can't get over the boxy cut! It looks like I am wearing a pillow case.
I am 5'1.5", 34C, size 8p pants and small tops. I bought the petite small and it fits appropriately for size.
I also didn't care for the plastic shell lining. It felt rubbery and would much prefer a mesh lining.
My search continues....

I purchased this coat for my daughter as a gift. She liked the coat very much except that the zipper kept separating and she had only had it a couple of weeks. Customer service was very nice and sent her a replacement, although we couldn't get the same color. The second coat has worked out fine, so far. It's possible that we just got a lemon the first time around.

..but when I sat down in the car, the jacket moved higher on my torso, and the collar scratched my cheeks. It was my second try with a Tek shell, and it's just too stiff a fabric for me.
To be fair, I bought this in a larger size for the boxier fit that I prefer for skiing. I'm 60, and though I've quit the mogul fields, I still shred it with the 20-somethings and prefer parkas designed for "ease of motion" over those designed to "flatter my figure" (that ship has sailed!!). And I prefer a jacket that's long enough to give an extra layer between me and the chairlift.
I've seen the parka on friends who bought it in a size that was more form-fitting, and it looked great on them (hence .
my "I would recommend this to a friend" even though I returned mine).
And the colors are great - I'm relieved to see that the trend toward "baby-shower-pastels" in Bean's casual clothing for women has not made it into their outerwear designs.

This jacket exceeded my expectations. You can wear it three ways: 1. With the inside jacket and the outside jacket together for cold days, 2. The inside jacket alone for cool days, and 3. The outside jacket alone for warm days with rain. I have worn it all three ways since buying the jacket. There are zippers inside and hooks to keep the inside jacket in place. My only complaint is that one of the zippers is on backwards, so it is hard to zip. It's very warm when worn way #1, and perfect for warm, rainy days when worn way #3. The outside jacket has a great hood and a little peak to keep the rain out of your face. It is a perfect jacket for me, because I own a pet care business, and I walk dogs every day in all weather. The colors are great too: cyan blue for outside, and cobalt blue for inside.
Thank you, L.L. Bean!

This is actually a great jacket for early spring and late fall. However, it is not nearly warm enough for the cold temperatures the description indicates. It is good down to about 20 degrees; after that a warmer coat is required. Fit is accurate and I love the wind/waterproofing.

I purchased this to use as a bridge coat between winter and spring and also to take with me for some mountain hiking this summer. It's light-weight, the petite XS fits me perfectly in the sleeves, shoulders, and hood, and the violet color is very pretty.
I wish the design include two snaps in the sleeve cuffs to secure the removal inner lining from the shell, but otherwise, I love this jacket. Zippers are smooth and easy to use, the numerous pockets are generous in size, and the fabric feels nice to the touch. It will be just the ticket when we take to the Alps in June.
I appreciate that the use of Velcro is limited on this coat. I have another, more expensive Bean waterproof jacket with so much Velco that all my sports clothes are snagged. This particular design is less hazardous to hiking shirts, leggings, and other hiking materials.

Love the jacket. Light but nice and warm. My only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the hood is just a little to small. Does not quite fit over my helmet.

This coat is great. Keeps a person warm at any temperature. Very wind proof. Lightweight not bulky. It's a great coat for colder wind weather.

Rated 3 out of 5 by MyDogIsPooka Not as Good as Previous Version
I liked the version of this jacket from 2 years ago (2014). The zipper broke (actually came un-sewed from the coat) but I was very pleased with LL Bean's 100% product guarantee. They replaced the jacket for free. The new (2016) version of the jacket I don't like as much. The hood is not detachable. The outer liner is made of a rubberized raincoat type material, but is not lined with mesh like the previous jacket. This gives it a cheaper feel. I also think it makes your hands colder when you put your hands in the jacket pockets as you feel that rubber-type material on your skin. This jacket runs bigger through the chest area, but is no wider in the shoulders so does not fit me as well as the previous one. While it is much lighter in weight, I'm also convinced it is NOT as warm. The sleeve length does seem to be slightly longer, which I liked. If you were buying it and didn't have a previous version of this jacket to compare it to, you would probably like it.
