Rated 1 out of 5 Nowhere Near as Warm as Stated
I hate to write a bad review but I returned this coat after a few weeks of wearing it. It was nowhere near as warm as LL Bean described. I live in Maine. I wore it in 20-30 degree weather for just short trips and was freezing. This jacket has a rating of up to 30 below. The ratings are based on you wearing thermals and a fleece underneath. I was looking for a jacket to wear to the office and for shopping trips. (I have a different jacket for long outdoor situations. It is another Bean coat and I love it.) Since I wanted this jacket to wear to the office I knew I would not be wearing thermals with it. I knew it would not be warm to -30, but I was hoping without the thermals it would still be good to around 0. Not so. This purchase makes me doubt Beans rating system for future purchases.
This jacket is extremely lightweight. When I got the package I would have guessed they had only sent me a T-shirt. The inner jacket is like a light fall jacket. The outer layer is just a single layer rain jacket. It does not have any insulation at all.
Previous commenters mentioned the styling of the coat was not good. I was not worried about that when I bought it because I was looking for warmth, not fashion. I did find the styling, however, bulky and just inconvenient. The jacket was a little stiff and when you get in the car or sit down the whole thing rides up. My other Bean jackets have a two way zipper on the bottom or a button front with a regular zipper that makes it easier to sit down.
As far as sizing it was true to my other LL Bean purchases. I am 5'2 and 145 pounds. With those stats I did have to get the coat in petite. The coat in regular was way too long for my arms. In petite the arms were just right (coming just a little bit past my wrists).
The last issue I had was really bad static. No idea what I did wrong. I don't seem to have static cling with my other clothes but after wearing this coat for a few minutes my hair would be a mess with static.

Rated 2 out of 5áby pickaname Not Warm At All
Rated to -30 degrees.
Worn twice today.
This morning: 18 degrees/real feel 18 degrees. I froze.
This afternoon: 32 degrees/real feel 25 degrees. I was cool/cold.
The outer shell takes on the temperature of the air and immediately transfers it to whatever you have on underneath. In my case, that was the inner layer...which is way too thin to keep the cold from reaching through it. You shouldn't have to wear multiple additional layers in order to stay even moderately warm (dog walking, brisk pace) in temperatures that are much higher than what a coat is rated for.
I will use this coat, which is made well and pretty, for other purposes but will still have to buy another one for my original intent.

Rated 5 out of 5áby florabamagirl perfect jacket
We've had 19 degree days lately, but this jacket has really kept me comfortable. Lots of storage. I'm 5'4, 150lbs, and I bought a size large to leave room for sweaters or layers.

Rated 5 out of 5áby golfjuno Wind chill -7
Do not wear inside, you will swear:) It was -7 wind chill yesterday, I wore my 3 in 1... Stayed warm! I didn't feel the wind or the cold! Best coat I've ever worn!!! Recommend it's warmth, light weight, and easy to pack. I'm a frequent traveler, so it added no weight to my luggage! Love it!!

Rated 3 out of 5áby MsAP Nice jacket but not warm enough for me
I really, really wanted to love this jacket. It is very well made and I like the idea of the versatility of 3 jackets in 1 so I could use it here in the south but also up north. But I wore this in mid-40s to low-50s weather and was simply cold. I gave it a few chances. Just to make sure I wasn't cold for other reasons, I tried on my old puffy down jacket in each situation for comparison, and was warm. The Primaloft just isn't as warm as real down. Now, that said, I am a very cold-natured person. People who don't need a super-warm jacket will like this jacket, but I know it won't see me through winter and so I'm afraid it's going back.
For sizing - I am 5'9, 135 lb and ordered a small because I know LL Bean runs big. It was plenty big enough and even a little long on the arms.

Rated 5 out of 5áby 4seasonlover Comfortable, warm coat
Since I purchased this coat there has only been a handful of days I needed to wear it. Walking the dog in 25 degrees with a cold brisk wind was no problem with this coat on. It's a perfect length, coming to just the bottom of my hips. It doesn't restrict leg movement so it will be perfect for cross country skiing. The collar zips up to my chin and keeps the wind out. The shell is both waterproof and windproof. So far I have found this coat both warm and comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Rudy922 Great little jacket
Bought this for my daughter attending high school. She wanted something that she could use in different temperatures because she hates to "over-dress" on days with her friends.
The shell can be wore separately from the inner liner, or vice-versa or together. Winter is coming and I will have a better idea how well this jacket works, but it is rated for -30 degrees, and if the older jackets from LL Bean are any indication - this jacket will be used through to late Spring with no issues. Well worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Patty478 Light Weight, Warm
Though I did just receive this coat I have been very impressed. I was so surprised to find out how light weight this coat is. The only down fall to the inner jacket of this coat is that it is a little short in the sleeves, however this is a common issue with all my winter coats that I have purchased. I would definitely recommend this coat to someone
