Rated 4 out of 5 by cj47 Jacket is as advertised
Love the jacket, especially since you've added the lower elastic tightner. It makes a huge difference when the wind blows---no longer down my back. What a bonus. Also love the brighter colors.

I am pleased with my new jacket so far. I had originally ordered the Petite Large (I am 5'3" and 140 lbs) but it was much too wide around the middle. I returned it for a Petite Medium which is still a little big around the middle but fits everywhere else. I wish this coat had the elastic cord that you could pull to gather it and it would fit much better. I agree with some of the other reviews that I don't think it lives up to its temperature rating, but it is good enough for what I need it for.

We liked this item because of its toughness and its flexibility. It is like buying three items in one. It will stand some outdoor abuse in the snow and cold. Looks good too.

I have been looking all over for something like this. It is very well made. The lining zips in and out easily. It is secure in there unlike others I have tried that button and shift. It is perfectly warm in 20 degrees and lower. I have worn it hiking with and without the liner depending on the temperature. The hood is nice and has that extra shield like a cap so the rain or snow doesn't hit you in the face. Venting under the arms comes in handy, zippers on the side, (not on the seam) another plus. The only thing I would have liked, but can live without, to have the front zipper open from the bottom too.
Very happy with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JakeandCocosMom Great coat!
I decided to give this coat a try, after having other 3-in-1 coats that are bulky and not very warm. I have to say I love this coat! It's not bulky at all, very light weight, but I am not cold at all (although I have yet to wear it in below 0 temps). It really stands up to wind and snow. I also love that the inner coat is not fleece, but more like a puffy jacket that's not puffy. I've worn the inner coat by itself on days where temps were in the upper 30's/low 40's and I've been perfectly comfortable. The outer shell will be great as a rain jacket when I don't need the extra warmth. The only negative I can find is that the hood does not zip off. But to me, that is a minor inconvenience. I usually wear an XL or 14/16 in clothes, so I ordered an XL and the jacket has plenty of room for a sweater underneath. If you're looking for cute winter style and showing off your curves, this is not the coat for you. But if you're looking for a lightweight but warm coat that will stand up to wind, snow and cold, this is it! Overall, the best coat I've purchased!

I have put off purchasing a decent jacket for over five years and finally took the plunge with this one. I love it. It is very lightweight but so cozy warm. I live in Seattle and two weeks ago our temps were in the 20s and 30s. The jacket with the lining was great. The next week temps warmed up and it rained. I removed the liner and just wore the shell in a downpour. It was great. This week we are back in the 20s again so the liner went back in and I am toasty warm. I like all the pockets, the size was true to size, the color was just as depicted. This should last me a very long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BiologyLabRat Nice jacket but not warm to -30 F
Likewise on the warmth issue stated by other reviewers. I bought this jacket for a January trip home to northern Minnesota/North Dakota, where -30 F is not an unusual temperature, and there is no way it's going to be warm enough for barn chores or other lengthy excursions outdoors.
It is, however, the PERFECT jacket for 3 season wear in Portland, OR, where I currently live, so I'm going to keep it. I've worn it every day since I got it approximately a month ago, including during a rare October cold spell, and I have no complaints. It's actually waterproof as opposed to water resistant and has kept me both warm and dry. I like the slightly understated, minimalist styling of this jacket - it just looks like a jacket and not like a "LOOK OUT, I MAY UNEXPECTEDLY BEGIN ALPINE HIKING AT ANY MOMENT!" jacket.
I chose the Rangeley Green, which is a nice true green, and I like it a lot. Nice to see a retailer offering women's "active" style apparel in a color other than fuchsia, light blue, or periwinkle.
(I'm 5'7", approximately 120 lbs, and the XS regular fits fine even with a thick layer underneath.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by Karen1947 Beautiful jacket but not for me
We bought our first 3 in 1 weather challenger jackets from LLBean in 2006. We still have them but they lost their waterproofing ability in 2012 and in October of 2013 we ordered the red 3 in 1 in the gorgeous 2-tone red for both my husband and myself. We have absolutely loved the jackets except for the zippers which are difficult to use and my husband's zipper had begun to tear away at the bottom of the jacket. LLBean was kind enough to send us this new version as replacements. Regarding the new ones we don't like that the lining is gone from the outer shell, that the inner pockets are gone from the outer shell, that the 2-tone color is gone, or that they feel less substantial. Thus we returned these and kept our jackets from last year instead. We greatly appreciate LLBean sending us this new version and hopefully by the time our 2013 Weather Challenger jackets completely wear out there will be changes that bring the jacket back more to the 2013 jacket which we consider to be perfect in every way except for the difficulties with the zippers. My husband managed to super glue the zipper on his 2013 jacket and hopefully it will last for a while. He also widened the metal piece on the other side of the zipper so that it still works after the super glue made it a little bit thicker. The 2013 jackets are difficult to zip...especially around the neck area but we love the 2013 jackets anyway! Regarding the 2014 jackets which we have returned the zippers work perfectly and it is a very nice jacket...we just like last years model better for the reasons stated above.
