My boyfriend bought one in Men's I kept borrowing to walk dog and finally bought one for myself. Finally warm in a Vermont winter, I wish I had not waited so long! Warmest Jacket Ever and Lightweight to boot.

I was worried this jacket would be stiff or bulky. Not in the least. The neck is lined with a soft felt type fabric so its snug but soft. I was very pleased with the amount of pockets since I will wear this walking my dogs & hiking so cell phone, Kleenex, dog poo bags, etc. will be nice to have handy. The outer fabric is soft to the touch. I have only had the jacket a couple weeks and the weather has started to get warmer so I haven't had a chance to try it in the bitter cold but next winter I will be a lot warmer with this jacket . Honestly when I tried it on I was sorry I hadn't bought it at the beginning of the cold season.

I love it!! I had the jacket for 2 years and was shocked how well it kept me warm in single digit temps and just below 0.

I think I have tried nearly every winter parka made by Bean with no good results (too tight, too small, too big, not enough pockets, etc.) I was about to give up when I found this one (seems if you are too particular in your search, ie jackets, parkas, coats instead of starting with "outerwear" you miss a lot). This one is nearly perfect - I'd rather have snaps than velcro, but its a keeper EXCEPT that it seems to run big. I am keeping the petite large I ordered until the petite medium arrives - but I am sure that one will be OK. Most of my other Bean things are PL, some a little too big on their own but OK with a sweater underneath. This one is really too big, but since the PM is in stock, same color (black) I should be OK with it.

I purchased this jacket in French blue with violet. After lots of black and navy coats I wanted one that was cheerful but not loud. This was perfect. We are all different sizes and shapes so I will just say that I am usually a petite medium and this jacket fit me perfectly. It was comfortable, but never bulky.
I rarely use hoods so glad to be able to have the option of removing it.
This winter, in particular, it was great to have a jacket that both kept me warm and was a pleasure to wear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Camsmom Lightweight yet very warm ideal length parka
I chose a medium petite for my 5'3" 38B-30-37 measurements and the fit was perfect for me. The sleeves hit at slightly below my wrist and the back length of the Rugged Ridge parka was ideal, covering slightly below my backside to fully protect against cold weather conditions. I didn't feel any wind sneaking through the bottom of the parka at all. The exterior material is also waterproof and held up well in freezing rain and blizzard conditions. I took this parka on a ski run and was warm in minus 10 degree weather at night. My internal body temperature stayed consistent mainly because of the windproof factor of the parka and I was able to sit on snow because of the longer back length of the parka.
I chose the fuchsia/plum shade which is a bright magenta color, visible on the slopes and even at night. The interior if the collar is black fleece although I'm not sure why it wasn't a coordinating color with the parka. Note that if you are wearing any type of face powder or sunblock, it may rub off and show up against the black fleece interior collar. The collar can zip up all the way to my chin so it was plenty warm and snug.
There is one zipped interior pocket over the left chest and two black nylon pockets on the interior right side. The top pocket is for goggles and has an attached microfiber cloth to wipe down your goggles. The bottom pocket is a large open style. I would have preferred a heavier material for these two pockets because the black nylon has an almost thin, mesh-like feel to it, making me think it might break easily. Time will tell. There is an interior drawstring to bring in the waist of the parka so you have some shape if you choose (otherwise it will be an up-down look with no waistline). There is an exterior, fleece-lined zippered pocket on the left chest that is deep enough to hold a wallet or phone. There are two fleece-lined zippered pockets on either side of the parka that are also big enough to hold ski gloves, a wallet or anything of that size.
The jacket has a two-way center zipper that is tricky to operate. I find that if someone else zips it up for you, it goes quickly and smoothly. If you zip it up yourself, it will take an extra minute or two to align the zippers and then you have to gently pull towards you and go up in one fast motion. But if you are struggling, ask someone to zip it up for you or you have the velcro tabs to close up the parka.
The hood is deep and covered my 22" circumference head completely and fell over my forehead almost to my eyebrows. There is definite room for a helmut underneath. There are side bungee cords to adjust around the hood and make it tighter around your face but I prefer my hoods to rest slightly on the top of my head and not too near the eyes. The cords won't really help in that area so I just push the hood back when I'm wearing it. The hood is light and doesn't squash your hairdo.
This is a very well-made parka that will keep you warm in cold weather conditions.

This is the warmest jacket I have ever owned! I previously had a down jacket which was very bulky. This jacket is every bit as warm without any of the bulkiness. The jacket is thin but amazingly warm and waterproof! Love that it covers my butt. Fits great. Love this jacket!

This parka fits great and keeps you warm. Fits better than the older style that was similar. This jacket is very comfortable to wear and is long enough where it covers your bottom and is flexible enough to move around in comfortably!

It does a good job blocking the wind.
With the exception of the main zipper.
If the wind is blowing towards you from your left side, you still manage to feel it in spite of all the Velcro.
Just wear a thicker sweater on the windy days.

I purchased this jacket in petite medium for my daughter with Down Syndrome. We always have trouble finding clothes that fit her short stature, and this jacket fit the bill nicely. I was impressed by the heft of the jacket when it arrived. We live in AL, so normally it is fairly warm here but at times, due to the dampness, it can seem brutally cold. This jacket is perfect for one of those days. My daughter has a tendency to take her jacket off in the car and pitch it into the back seat. Well, the other day, unbeknownst to me, she did that and the jacket ended up caught in the door and dragging on the highway. Eventually it caught and flew up under the car. I was annoyed when we arrived at our destination and the jacket was gone. I realized immediately what had happened because we heard the jacket fly up under the car. We went back and found the jacket in the busy road (5:00 traffic). This was the only damage done.
