Wore these for two weeks of strenuous hiking in Cornwall followed by a week of walking around London: they are the only shoe/boot that I could find anywhere that could stand up to schlogging through mud and providing adequate grip when clambering over rocks, yet look fashionable at the end of the day. For extra comfort, I ordered a half size too large, added a padded insert, and wore them with silk liner socks together with medium weight wool hiking socks. My feet stayed dry even when tackling 30% inclines with the thermometer at 75 degrees. The Storm Chasers were easy to clean; the leather held up well and still looks good. They are light weight and even though this version does not go over the ankle, I never felt a lack of support. A great buy!

by Bertram28 Seems wider than most mediums
With few narrow shoe choices, I sometimes go for function over preferred width. While never as good a fit, sometimes a medium is tight enough out of the box and close enough for brief wear later.
These Storm Chasers slip-on are far too loose out of the box. Headed back. Fat socks here in SW Florida are not an option nor smaller size.

These shoes are great for walking in the fall and winter when there is a lot of rain and snow and the temperatures are colder. The insulation helps keep my feet warm and dry.

I purchased these boots specifically for walking my dog in wet and rainy weather. If they get wet above the rubber portion of the boot, they leak. I've tried treating them with silicone waterproofing, and they still leak around the seam between the rubber bottom and the leather top. I am a big fan of L L Bean's products and have been buying them for years. This is very disappointing.

My husband wears these working at a marina. Always getting wet. Had to look thru purchase history to see when and what size last ones were. Was 3 years ago! No shoes last him that long. He wears them a lot in spring and fall. One complaint though, the inner liner is peeling back after 1 wear. Happened on both boots! I used gorilla glue to try to tack it back down. If doesn't work will have to exchange. He needs them daily,so don't want to do that. They also need to come in a Wide, we order 1 size up

I've had two pair of these boots...great fit and comfort. Purchased both pair in early fall for winter/early spring wear. These were my go to footwear when leaving the house...yard work feeding the chickens trips to the store etc. By spring both pair had cracked across the upper toe area and leaking....really like the fit and feel but not the wet socks. I can purchase an "off brand" that lasts the same amount of time for about a third the price... Sorry just not the Maine produced shoe of my younger days..

Purchased these for grandsons aged 17 and 13. Older boy said they slipped when he was walking so am returning them. Youngest boy wore them and said they are fine. They are perfect for wearing to school in snowy weather when tall boots are not practical for wearing in school all day.

Rated 3 out of 5 by GandV OK but not great
I was looking for a shoe with an aggressive sole (won't slip on wet grass) waterproof, slip on and comfortable.
The soles on these are great. They are 100%waterproof.
However, the toe space is still a little cramped, and the heel area is a little loose.
They come up in the back more than I would like - I was looking more for a shoe than a boot. Also the ankle area is a little loose.
They are insulated so are fine for fall/winter spring- but too warm for summer.
Ideally, I would like a shoe top like the classic LLBean shoe, but a sole like this one.
I was not able to find anything close to this, so I tried out these.
They are OK, but for $100., I would have preferred perfect. (or close)

In a great need for a pair of shoes that would be comfortable, easy to walk in and waterproof 'BEANO' filled the bill. LL Bean has never let me down and all of this is very much appreciated.

Rated 3 out of 5 by farmerjr seems good, w one exception
After a couple of months, I like the leather enclosing the ankle--it should prevent the cracking that killed a competitor's comparable shoe. However, I do not understand the deep tread. It only gathers (heavy) mud, requires constant scraping, and offers no traction advantage. The ruffled, shallow tread soles on the Bean boots seem far superior.
