Rated 3 out of 5 by missioncreek Nice Boots, but Poor Traction
My dog likes to wander through tall wet grass on our morning walks, and these boots are just the thing for keeping my feet dry and warm. Love the easy-on, easy-off feature provided by the side zip.
Downside: these boots have very poor traction on wet concrete. I have taken one nasty fall and a couple of near misses walking down steep wet sidewalks when my feet suddenly slipped out from under me. If you stick to flat ground, these boots are great, but on hills in rainy weather, beware.

I bought these for my husband and there were to narrow. The quality of the boot look fabulous, but he wasn't able to put them on. I wish they made these in wide sizes.

The boot is nice but the inside is made of a hard rubber material that rubs against the leg and cuts it. The boot should have come with a soft liner.

Have to return boots that were a birthday gift. Too narrow and there is only one width (D) available.

I like the boot and plan to keep it. I would caution someone who is looking to purchase this boot that has wide feet. It would be nice if they made this with options for wider widths. I am hoping that during the break in, that it will stretch out a little.
I like the zipper on the side as it helps getting my feet in. I would like it if there was a pull tab on the side where the top of the zipper is on the rear flap.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Tom22 Excellent boots; more toe room desired.
I'm wearing these daily in an Iowa winter--more than half of the winter is now past. They are warm and pretty comfortable, but I suggest providing more room for the toes; sometimes my toes feel crowded, and I'm not wearing thick socks. The materials and workmanship are outstanding. The tread gives good traction. I was worried that the zipper might not hold up, but so far it's working fine--very smooth. I like these boots very much; if they had more toe room they'd have an easy five-star rating.

Rated 1 out of 5 by TravelingJack Pretty boot, but water leaks through zipper
My boots arrived yesterday, I tested them out and now I'm returning them. It's a shame because they look nice and are very comfortable. The problem is that water leaks through the zippers on the sides. That means that the boots are only useful when traversing very shallow puddles. I want to be able to splish splash through five- or six-inch puddles and keep my feet dry, so these boots will not work.
Fortunately, LL Bean has an excellent return policy, so I'll get my money back. I've placed an order for the 8" "Original LL Bean Boot," which has a tongue that sewn to the boot all the way to the top. Supposedly this keep the water out unless the leather becomes saturated.

Rated 5 out of 5 by armadill0 Great boot for winter
I purchased this boot primarily for winter and I like the fact that it has a zipper so that I can easily take it on and off while I go out to walk my dog. The boot is warm and waterproof and I can either tuck my pants into the boot or leave them outside of the boot depending on how much snow there is. Traction is fairly good but like most boots, isn's great on snow over hidden ice. They should last a long time.

My wife loves these. I say that because the fit was so narrow I am unable to wear them. In all fairness I need a wide, which these do not come in. So I was not completely surprised when they did not fit. But before I could return them we got 12" of snow and my wife needed something. They are a little long for her but with thick socks they fit. She loves them.
They are a great boot for someone with narrow feet.

I ordered the side-zip storm chasers because they offered everything I wanted in a boot. Based on other reviews, I ordered a half size larger than I normally wear, which was a good decision.
The rest of my comments:
For a medium width the heel box is very loose. It feels more like a wide.
The toe box is an odd shape. It starts to taper to a point slightly before it should, and puts pressure on the outside of my big toe. This would not be a problem with leather since it stretches and conforms. It is a problem with rubber since it does neither. It would fit the foot of someone who has worn pointy-toe shoes long enough to dislocate the big toe inward perfectly. I have not worn such shoes.
I would suggest that L.L.Bean look long and hard at the foot-bed shape used by many manufacturers of modern shoes.
I will keep the boots since they serve my needs, but they could certainly be more comfortable in the toe box.
