Rated 5 out of 5 by eva3mom great boots, but too much for the winters here
I really like the way these boots look and feel. I am size 8, and altho they look big, the fit was perfect. However, I am going to return them because they are way more boot than I need here in SE Massachusetts. (I could have used them last year when we had 100 inches of snow, but that is VERY atypical) If we get that much snow again, I will definitely order them.

Love the look of this all leather boot. However had a difficult time getting these on. I have very high insteps and even unlacing the entire boot still made it difficult to get on. Once on the length was good, not long as others have mentioned, but the boot sagged at the angles, even when pulled to full length. I have returned these.
Maybe if the boot did not have full front ties, it may have fit differently. Sad having to return, always get good quality and fit, not this time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by rachbs Awesome boots!
I finally decided on these after trying over 8 different styles from various brands of snow boots. I always have issues with winter boots rubbing right at the heel. These boots fit like a glove. They are definitely like snow boots, in the sense that they feel big and feel clunky at first, but once you walk in them they wear in quickly. The liner also comes out so they can be used as a rain boot. My feet are so warm! LLBean came to the rescue again with an amazing product.

These boots are amazing! So warm and cozy. They may seem a little clunky, but they are winter boots so to me that is expected. Luckily they are pretty fashionable too! I have only worn these for a weekend so they have not been broken it yet, so they are a little tough to bend my foot in but i can see they will break in just fine. I was hoping to get these for Christmas and since nobody bought them for me I decided to purchase them myself. When logging onto the site I found since I was late, they were sold out of my typical size 10. THEN i started reading all the reviews and for the most part they said the boots ran large. Normally I wear a 9.5-10 and have a very wide foot. I was worried how the 9's would be but i am very pleased. I probably could not wear a REALLY thick sock with them, but they are so warm that I don't think I will ever need to. Bottom line, I love these boots! Thank you LLBean!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by NEtoMW Think they'll be great - maybe a five star
Only gave 4 stars because I have yet to wear them outside. I normally wear an 8.5 but 'live chat' said it was recommended to go down if a half size. Boots just came and with a mid weight sock there is still plenty of room. They are sized to keep the liner in; so they would significantly too big (for anyone) if you were to take the liner out in the size that fits you. I have a very high arch so boots sometimes are a challenge to get on; but the pull tabs on these greatly helped. Took a little tugging to get them off but that is to be expected - esp. when they are new. Also have fairly large calves (often get a wide calf boot) and had no issues with this. Could fit my jeans in and still lace them with the laces provided. Now - I didn't really NEED another pair of Bean boots (I still have some from 1975 that I wear) but can you really have too many?????

Rated 5 out of 5 by rebjm love the boots
Got these boots just in time for our first northeast snowstorm of the year. I love them. Comfortable straight out of the box - the leather upper and the sole are both very compliant and they are significantly less stiff than other tall snowboots I've tried before.
Look: Let's face it, they aren't "cute boots". The pic on the website makes them look kind of sleek, and maybe they look cute on someone with tiny little feet and petite legs. On my wide feet and chunky calves, they look pretty clunky. I think the look is fine when I'm all bundled up anyway. But if you are looking for a stylish winter boot, these probably aren't for you.
Size: I'm a 9.5 - 10 in most shoes. I got a 9, and they fit perfectly. There would not be room for a thick sock, but that's ok - you don't need a thick sock with these, the liner is very warm. I've been plowing through the snow with a thin or no socks on, and my feet have been toasty.
Warm and dry - I just came back from tromping through the snow drifts, at times I stepped into drifts up past my knee. My leggings above the boots got soaked, but boot top down stayed bone-dry.

by crazymomof4 Real Winter Boots
I am just a hair under 5 foot tall, I have super short legs, and chunky 16 inch calves. My "normal" shoe size ranges from a 6 in moccasins to an 8 in Uggs. I ordered these boots in a 7 and they are perfect. They glided right over my calves like butter, which is not something I can say for many other boots. Yes, putting them on the first time is a bit awkward but the pull tabs at the top help a lot. Like almost all leather boots they are stiff right out of the box, but there was no real struggle putting them on the first time. Walking in them at first also felt awkward, like moon boots and zero gravity and all that. I wore them around the house at first while I vacuumed, went up and down the stairs, switched over some laundry, and after about 30 minutes the awkward feeling went away. There is enough room to wear thick socks but they fit fine without socks too. I have not tried them without the liner. They are very very warm. The chocolate brown color is gorgeous and the leather is extremely soft. These are not heavy, but they're also not petite lightweight "winter" fashion boots. They are sturdy winter boots that will keep your feet warm and dry. For you ladies concerned about how you will look in these, well, I think they make my feet look larger than they actually are but they also make my calves look smaller. So I guess it's a trade off. These were actually my "runner up" boots...I bought them after several months of trying to get my hands on a pair of the elusive flannel lined Bean Boots. I wish I would've just ordered these from the beginning! I love them so much I plan to order the other color when they are in stock in my size. As always, shipping was crazy fast. Thanks L.L. Bean, for another amazing product and purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by gth789b Best boot-purchase
By far, these are the best boots I have ever purchased. I was a bit hesitant with the price, but ultimately figured I will eventually need a solid pair of boots as long as I am living in the cold/snowy weather. Boots were backordered in my size, so had to wait an extra 6 weeks-- and it has been well worth the wait!
Have yet to test the boots out in heavy snow, but so far they are warm and waterproof-- no complaints from my feet that get cold in weather below 65!
The boots are a bit heavy, but no more than any other rain/snow boots. I am so happy I made this purchase and have already recommended the boots to family and friends (some of who have also purchased the boots)!

Whoever said money can't buy happiness never had these boots on their feet. I've loved these boots since the minute I saw them. My first pair of boots from LL Bean, I took a chance and ordered them online. When they arrived, they were even better than I expected. I wanted something warm and sturdy to withstand Midwest winters, tall enough to keep out the deep snow, and stylish enough to wear everywhere. These boots meet all of those requirements. I chose the root beer brown version and the color and finish are rich and beautiful. I was skeptical of size and weight given a few of the reviews, but I am a true 8, ordered a size 8, and they fit perfectly, even on longer walks. The inserts give an extra layer of warm, comfy cushioning and support. I look forward to enjoying these for many years to come.
