Rated 4 out of 5 by MassNewbie Great for Winter
I just spent a few years in Hong Kong, a much warmer climate, so really needed good boots to deal with the winters of MA. When these wildcat boots came in a mail they were a little on the tight side, but I was hesitant on getting a size larger, because I've had this happen before and one size larger would end up being too big after being worn in. So it took me about 2 weeks to really break into the boots - they were quite stiff at first, pressing on my ankles and toes. Now I walk to and from work, about half an hour each way. But they are super warm, are great for trekking on snowy unploughed sidewalks and playing in snow with kids (I'm a teacher in the Boston area). They've been keeping my feet warm, dry and so far keeping me from slipping. I would say that on one day when it was mostly snowy slush on the ground, the boots were kicking the snow backwards more than they were helping me advance. Although I don't know if those conditions would have been different wearing any other boots - might just be nasty MA weather/roads.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SciTeach10 Great Boots!
I bought winter boots from LL Bean about 10 years ago. The rubber on them cracked. LL Bean was happy to give me full price credit for those boots. I used that amount to buy the Wildcats. These boots are very warm and comfortable. I am looking forward to using them on many cold season hikes! I did find that the high supports around my lower leg agitated my skin, so tall, thick socks are a must. I'm very happy with my purchase and with LL Bean's customer service.

I purchased these boots to wear in what is shaping up to be a very snowy new england winter. I was happy with the styling and look of the boot when it arrived...then i tried it on. I ordered it in a size 9. What I have purchased in previous similar boots in the past. When i put it on with the medium weight wicking socks I intended to wear with them my toes felt too tight. Also the back of this boot is rather high, something I was looking for. However the collar of the boot is very stiff and cut into the back of my calf and was too uncomfortable to tolerate. I contemplated maybe they would "break in" but did not want to endure being uncomfortable until that might have happened. I have sent them back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by NativeMaine Snowshoeing Comfort
I purchased these boots to replace my original Wildcat boots. These are used solely for snowshoeing. As soon as they arrived, they were introduced to snowshoes and a cold (single digits) mile trek in deep fluffy snow. Wearing a medium weight wool sock , my feet stayed toasty warm. They were comfortable with no break in needed. As recommended by a clerk, I ordered 1/2 size larger.....great advice and decision. They are more narrow and lighter than the original Wildcat boots.
I hope they will keep my feet dry when the snow becomes more wet than dry and fluffy. I have no idea whether to try to waterproof them.
Thus far, I am pleased with this purchase.

Rated 2 out of 5 by TJTJ 2014 version not waterproof
I bought these boots in 2012 / 2013 for myself. I'd give that pair a 5-star review. They are warm and comfortable. I've warn them in all sorts of muck and they always keep my feet warm and dry.
However, I ordered a pair in 2014 (the black / blue color) for my daughter and hers leak. They keep her feet warm in the cold and powdery snow, but if she walks through the slush or wet snow they leak. I'm disappointed to have to return them.

I had hip replacement surgery in July and with the winter's ice and snow I knew I needed new boots. I looked at the LLBean catalog offerings and chose Women's Wildcat Boots. I feel so confident when the weather is icy and slick. I can also see that these boots will last a very long. time. Thank you for the quality you offer.

Even though I ordered 1size larger than my shoe size, these boots were too tight. I was looking to replace my old LLBean slip on boots that are so comfortable and easy to get on. These are nice looking boots that would serve well if you are lucky to have a narrow foot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sandrissima1 "Serious" winter boots
These boots aren't just for country weekends. Boston has been having a bit of winter this year. Sidewalks are often slippery in patches, black ice is a constant menace, and some curb crossings are treacherous. My old boots were too worn down to be helpful. I called LL's to ask about these Wildcat boots; the woman I talked to said "These are serious boots". [I told her I wouldn't expect anything less from LL's :))] She was right. I've been testing them out over the past 4 snowstorms and they're terrific. Deep treads and the higher profile give good stability. The insulation is excellent. Definitely 5-star.
