Rated 1 out of 5 by Active60 Runs half size large, uncomfortable
I have bought LL Bean Gore-tex mountain treads for years. They have been great comfortable, supportive, true to size.
I was so surprised that the sizing and fit has changed with the new version. I tried a half size smaller which was better in length but my feet still hurt and my heel was still slipping. The shoe seems shallower in depth and does not hold my foot like the previous years versions. Needless to say I am sad and returned them. I am trying to find a different brand to match the previous high quality of your LL Bean Goretex mountain treads. Wish me the best!

Rated 3 out of 5 by DustyB Sole Defective
The shoes are ok overall. However, the soles wore out prematurely. This is the third pair. The first two pair had the same defect. I walk about a mile daily and the soles did not last but four months on the second pair. The shoes have a Vibram sole so the name is well known but the quality on this shoe sole is lacking. Of course, LL Bean has corrected the problem by replacing the shoes each time which is great! Were it not for the great return policy I would not have tried a third pair.

Rated 4 out of 5 by AMfromLongIsland Great hiking shoe, but not a true wide width
I have been searching for a new hiking shoe for a while now and thought I hit paydirt on this one. The shoe appears well made. Unfortunately, when I put the shoe on (with a lightweight wool/blend sock) it was definitely too narrow as well as too small. I would suggest ordering 1/2 to 1 full size larger to have enough room in the toe box. Sadly nothing can be done about the width.
I gave it the high rating because I think for many women this would be a great hiking shoe.
I think I'll have to look for my new shoe in person rather than on-line.

Rated 4 out of 5 by dasi addendum to my other review
These are very flexible, not stiff at all, and break in very quickly. The first time I wore them, I walked 5 miles with no discomfort at all. Very comfortable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by dasi Excellent quality and feel
I held off writing a review until I could test these in wet conditions. The quality is excellent, the fit is very good. I was concerned that they would not be wide enough, but I found that the D width, the widest available, is just fine. I am not used to the raised heel height and I have found a slight tendency for myself to "go over" at the ankles, so I just have to be careful until I get used to them. Definitely waterproof. I did not walk into puddles and mud, but through tall grasses after a heavy rain. That is usually enough for me to test if shoes are waterproof. The treads seem to hold road dirt and sand in the wet, so they do not have as solid a footing as other hikers I have gotten when it comes to wet conditions, some tendency to slip, but the footing is superb on dry roads, sand, rocks, and so on. Overall, a good investment, and I am quite happy with them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by marieg922 Nice quality
I've just purchased these. I am a solid 10.5 in a tennis shoe and these were quite roomy when I first tried them on. I have yet to wear them with a heavy hiking sock, but think they will be fine when I do. Also, I've been trying to break them in for an upcoming hike, and by the end of my walk they seem to fit just fine. I have yet to wear them in wet conditions, so I can't speak to the waterproof features.

Rated 4 out of 5 by comfortmatters Beautiful shoes, but too long
These are beautifully-made shoes. I wear a 7 wide in athletic shoes, and ordered that size in these. The width was perfect, but they were too long. Unfortunately, LL Bean does not make them in a 6 1/2 wide, so I had to send them back for a refund.
