Rated 5 out of 5 by FlyfishWoman Great as windbreaker and rain jacket
I bought this jacket in 2013 for my trip to NYC. It's self stow was great for packing. It served well as a wind breaker and for the light rain. True test was my July 2014 Yellowstone River float trip--got caught on river in pouring rain storm with side winds & dropping temps. I stayed dry under my jacket!! And it cut the cross winds blowing down the river valley. I did get pretty cold after a while, but this is a lightweight and very breathable jacket and I only had a t-shirt on underneath--expected. Great jacket for its purpose and price! Only complaint is sleeve cuffs are only elastic without Velcro straps to tighten cuffs--re-design idea...

Rated 5 out of 5 Great Jacket
My daughter out grew her kids size, ordered one of these and it was too small. Called customer service, they worked with her on another size, returned it, they send the other size, fit perfectly. She has the black jacket with a pink monogram, not my taste but she loves it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by YJ2014 Waterproof, comfortable, packs small
This jacket is great! It is extremely waterproof and the hood covers my head nicely so even when I wear my glasses they can avoid getting wet. I also love how small it packs up to be. It is lightweight but it does trap heat inside of it so if you are moving it can get warm. I am about 5'4" and 120 lbs and I ordered a size small and it seems a little big on me but not too much. I didn't go smaller though because I like to wear hoodies underneath it when it is chillier out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JoyeFamily Practical and comfortable
I got this jacket in petite blue. The jacket fits really well and hits right at the hips. The color is unobtrusive, not bad, not amazing. The jacket is very lightweight, so will not provide warmth. It isn't too clingy nor does it stick to you too much like some raincoats. Also, it is terribly convenient that it stuffs into it's pocket! Perfect for throwing in a bag for work, a baseball game, or a hike.

Rated 4 out of 5 by mndlnnmntl waterproof and not too heavy
I'm new to New England and I'm glad I have this rain jacket around. It's waterproof even in weird sideways mist. It fits really well. The zippered pockets are warm and roomy for keeping a (large) phone dry.
My only complaint is that the hood can't be tightened, so sometimes the wind catches it. Also, I have no idea how to fold the thing into a pocket. It is very foldable, though, so I can just throw it in my bag.
I wish it weren't so expensive.

Rated 3 out of 5 by MNBeanfan Not for Me
I thought this jacket was just the ticket for walking my dogs in the spring and fall, but when I got it, the medium, my normal LL Bean size, was too small for me - I could get it on alright, but it was snug on my hips if I wore anything but a T-shirt underneath.
Two good things: The true blue color was very pretty, and the jacket does repel rain quite nicely.
But - the jacket was very warm (too sweaty-warm) the two times I wore it, one time in the rain. I've also decided it is not very flattering on me, and a large would be even worse. I'm sorry, but I have to send this one back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Espresso143 Great jacket
I just received my new jacket. The color and size are great. I ordered a petite jacket in the orange color. The color is nice -- not too bright, not too dull. It will be very cheery on a gloomy day.
It is so nice to have sleeves that are just the right length - no rolling or pushing up required. Also, the jacket body is roomy enough to comfortably allow for an LL Bean lightweight down vest.
My only suggestion echoes that of a previous reviewer -- it would be nice if there was either a "how to" diagram or video demonstrating how to nicely fold the jacket into the pocket.

I bought this Discovery Rain Jacket in Colonial Blue, several months ago. This month, it went with me on an adventure trip to the temperate rain forest of SE Alaska. Our guides warned us to only bring serious rain gear, not just water resistant things. This jacket performed very well in that environment. It withstood a steady rain when walking all day outside. It also withstood a bush-whacking hike, where we followed bear trails and made our own trails for several miles..... The jacket kept me dry, and was not bothered by the many thorny bushes we trekked through. I was also pleased that the jacket breathed very well on this tough hike, and it did not cling to my skin. Great design, LL Bean!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Sparrow2 unflattering jacket
I ordered my usual size (large petite)
It was huge. Not to mention the bottom of the jacket flares out. So unflattering on a short full figured women. I wanted to love this jacket.
Back it goes:(

Rated 3 out of 5 by Scooners No drawstring on bottom hem....
I sent this jacket back because of no drawstring on the bottom hem (didn't read description well!) I would have kept it otherwise. As far as I am concerned, a rain jacket is not functional if you cannot seal it off everywhere, including the bottom. It also allows wind to blow into the jacket. I don't like wearing "skirted" jackets when they are supposed to be for outdoors and weatherproof. Otherwise, nice material and nice colors!
