Rated 5 out of 5 by AnnaBanana14 Keeps me dry
While this long rain coat does not make a fashion statement, it serves my purpose in purchasing it, which is to wear it when I walk my lady English Labrador in the rain. With its hood and its length, I am pretty much covered head to toe as she trots along oblivious to the weather and I am kept comfortably dry. That H2Off material really works. The water beads up on it, but one does not feel as if the coat does not breathe. One must layer under it in cooler weather, but it is quite roomy enough to feel comfortable doing that. At 5'3", I had to switch to a petite, but that worked out well for me.

I loved my H2OFF raincoat for several months. I even bought one for each of my daughters. Then, after one particularly heavy rain, it just lost its water repellency. I called LL Bean and was told I could return it or treat it with NikWax. I loved the coat, so I tried the treatment. It helped a bit, and I've repeated the treatment since then, but it's never been the same. A few years later, I still wear it, but I don't depend on it for protection in anything but a very light rain.

I've been looking for a raincoat for months - I wanted a long black one & they are hard to find. This was one of the first I looked at & I should've just gotten it but I thought I could get one for cheaper. I came back to this in the end & I love it. It fits great & is just the length I wanted. Based on reviews I got a large & it fits well - I think a Medium would've been a bit snug. The only thing I haven't entirely figured out is how to secure the hood if it's raining. I'm sure there's a way - but it's not obvious. Other than that I'm very happy w/this raincoat.

This is my first 'below the knee' rain coat and it is great. I can walk the dog, get the mail, etc. in the rain and not come home drenched from mid-thigh down. I prefer the mesh as if it is colder I have other coats for snow etc. Fit is perhaps a little small ...

Rated 5 out of 5 by CalicoCat52 Bright Colors, PLEASE- It's my Go To Coat!!!
It's a rain coat - the weather is gray and dreary. I want to be seen. And, on nice days I'd also like a bright colour. My Wild Berry (with a wool liner I love) has lost a button on the back detail (which was an elegant touch) as is the kick pleat. This created a hole that allows the rain in, actually two holes as I removed the other and tried to cover the holes with buttons of a similar color. I know these buttons are no longer an issue in the new style but I cannot replace this coat in an attractive color. Therefore my raincoat is now only coat. I've come here several times thinking I'll order a new long raincoat with a removable liner for colder weather but I want a coat that can be seen on dreary days and the darkness of early winter and just plain every night darkness. I might consider the blue IF it had reflective tape sewn appropriately and tastefully. I have had my "Wild Berry" since 2011 and still get compliments on the color. Because it washes so well and bounces back when rolled to pack, it's my go to coat for all occasions. It's not only my raincoat but because of it's length and elegance I wear it as a dress coat for most occasions. I'm scent sensitive and it's wash-ability allows me to wear it anywhere and know I can easily wash it and make it scent free once more.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Maryd11 Very bad fit
The coat is square and the elastic waist band is cut too high. Feels like the old time empire dress. Not flattering at all. The only reason I kept it is that after waiting for two months I really needed the coat and didn't want to have to wait anymore. For the money it should be a pass. Find something better.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BostonianTravelGirl Cut narrow through the hips
I love these long raincoats, I had the original H2Off coat with removable wool lining, and wore it out with constant use. I didn't like the styling of the 2.0 version, so held off on replacing it until this version came out. The one thing I don't like is that the styling through the hip area is more narrow than the past cuts, which had a back pleat if I recall correctly. This allowed for more layering underneath the coat- in the deep of the winter in the past I was able to layer my small raincoat over my x-small ultralight down coat for extra warmth. The only way I can do that now is by sizing up to a medium in the raincoat. So, LL Bean, consistent sizing would be better... and attention to the cut of the coats would also be great. A raincoat should also not be cut so close to the body at the bottom, so that the rain sheets off and doesn't just roll off and soak your feet/hem.
Overall a very good quality garment, with pretty good styling, but not as versatile as the old style.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Clintonville Great raincoat
I looked everywhere for a lightweight long raincoat. Was about to give up when I checked out Bean. I love Bean, but stopped ordering because of having to pay return shipping. But they recently opened a retail store nearby so decided to give it a shot.
I ordered it and it's perfect. The rain doesn't drip down into my rain boots like it did with a short raincoat.
A friend has already ordered hers after seeing mine.
Thanks L.L. Bean!
