Rated 2 out of 5 by oldskoolmom Material and lining thinner than I expected
My mother has one of these coats, (that she bought about 4 years ago), and I loved it so I ordered one. However the coat I received wasn't the same quality or cut. The material is thinner and the cut is slimmer. The coat fit me okay, but since the lining was thin I would probably need a sweater if it was cool out. Therefore I returned it because I didn't think it was worth the $209.00 that I paid for it. The return process was worth 4 stars however because it was seamless.

Rated 1 out of 5 by goeder Bring Back the Former, More Relaxed Style!
If you do no longer have a well defined waist line, then look for another style. I had the former, more relaxed version of this raincoat in a beautiful teal color that, sadly, lost its water repellency after I accidentally used fabric softener in the rinse. Apparently, this new style is more tapered at the waist AND the sleeves are incredibly long, too. The sleeves cannot be shortened due to the location of the 2 snaps. ATTENTION LLBEAN: PLEASE BRING BACK THE FORMER, MORE RELAXED FIT OF THIS RAINCOAT AND OFFER IT IN SOME OTHER COLORS BESIDES BORING BLACK, NAVY & BEIGE. Thank you.

Since I didn't read the page correctly, the wrong size appeared. Once again, your customer service people helped me. They are so great. No other place--store, city, doctor even--has real people answer the phone. The right size will soon appear. For years, I have soggily wanted that very rain coat. Now, I get it. (If it rains where you are, this is THE coat.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by Happy44 Better than expected
After reading all the reviews about the new version, I was hesitant to purchase this expensive item. A close friend has one of the older versions with the wool lining and detachable hood and highly recommended it. I chatted online with a representative and decided to buy. It is more than I expected. I am 5'5, weigh about 140, am fairly average in build. The coat fit perfectly, can be worn with a sweater but not with another coat, and is very comfortable. I wore it on a windy day with temps in 20s and found the length more than adequate for protection. I look forward to wearing it with and without the liner. Thanks L.L. Bean for another product that I will wear until it falls apart.

Rated 2 out of 5 by LLBeanComments What have they done to the sizing?
The last coat I purchased was/is wonderful! It is a comfortable fit - Petite Large. This new coat, and another, were so skimpy that they would not fit across my stomach. If I got a larger size, my shoulders would be ridiculously out of proportion.
Whatever you have done to economize, slenderize, or whatever, stop it! Please revert to past sizing dimensions.

It's a fine product, delivered on time and as advertised. My only concern to offer informationally: It does not have a generous cut and fits rather closely, accommodating a light sweater and skirt rather than a suit.

Rated 1 out of 5 by LLBeanWO Bad fit
LL Bean raincoats used to be fabulous, so I was very much looking forward to receiving a new one. The fit of this one is a disaster. It is so tight at the knees and hips one cannot sit down, the sleeves are too long, and it would be impossible to wear over sweaters or business clothes. I had wanted along raincoat to wear to work and this one is impossible. A larger size would not make any difference, as the cut is simply not designed for walking or sitting. I wish I had read the other reviews in advance. I had to return it for design reasons and I don't think I've ever done that before with an LL Bean product. Please bring the old style back.

LOVE it! Had to return the 2X since it was too big. Also wasn't crazy about the khaki color (too yellow-ish). Exchanged for the navy, and it fits great and I love the color!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Lorri7 Waterproof but not very warm
Well, it's pretty waterproof but not very warm. With the primaloft lining, it's about as warm as my old raincoat without the lining. I wonder if LL Bean would consider selling a thicker primaloft lining replacement. Luckily, I live in California where it does not get very cold. I would have been sorely disappointed (and cold) if I still lived in Connecticut. Although I must say that raincoats are meant for rain -- therefore above 32 degrees F. Fit seems to be true to size. No problem getting the size small over a blazer -- I'm between a size 4 and 6 these days. However, the petite is quite long -- probably meant for women who are exactly 5' 4". So if you are just around 5 feet or shorter, you may want to go with the mid-thigh version, which will be longer on you.

Rated 1 out of 5 by EndofBean Huge (or too small) Disappointment
This is my first online product review ever and I wish 'no stars' was an option. I have the previous version of the H2O rain coat and love it, but I've worn and washed it so much I decided it was time to replace it. I ordered the new version in M Reg because my current coat in that size is almost too big, so, having read reviews that the new one is somewhat more fitted, I thought that would work. But either the coat I received was S mislabeled as M or the new version is significantly more fitted and DOES NOT run anywhere near 'close to size.' I could hardly get the coat zipped and I was wearing only a t-shirt under it. I don't think even an XL would work; the design has a weird (for a raincoat) waist, so an XL might fit but it would look terrible. Now I (1) have to go to the trouble of returning it and (2) have to go to the trouble of finding a new favorite rain coat. Suffice it to say I won't be looking for it at LL Bean.
