Rated 1 out of 5 by LLBeanFanBoy I really wanted to like these shoes
Possibly my post anticipated delivery from L.L. Bean over the last decade. These oxfords looked so nice on the website - beautiful leather, perfect color, and great styling.
Unboxing was a treat as well...until I pulled one of these beasts out of the box. Hands down the heaviest (by a very wide margin) shoes I have ever encountered. I mean ridiculously heavy. But I soldiered on, figuring the weight would translate to durability.
My impression after lacing them up and taking a few steps across our hardwood floors:
3. LOUD (one of my daughters burst out laughing as I walked by)
5. Great looking
Despite my initial experience and better judgement, I decided to give the shoes an honest go. After six months of intermittent wear I'm sad to report:
1. The laces are frayed and almost at a breaking point.
2. The stiffness/discomfort hasn't abated much.
3. The ridiculous weight in no way translated to durability - the rear sole wore more quickly than any other shoe I've owned.
Overall, a complete bummer.

Nice shoes, well made. They might even fit. BUT HOW COULD ONE TELL WHEN THEY ONLY COME WITH ONE SET OF LACES!!!???
Sending them back

The Katahdin Iron Works Men's Oxford Shoe are excellent in every way. The people who mentioned the laces being too long should make a double loop through the bottom eyes to solve the problem. The people who disliked the LLBean logo should tie their shoes. The knot will cover the logo. I have not found anything wrong with these shoes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ThisGuy2 Good, HEAVY shoes
First, these things are heavy. At least twice that of my older pair of oxfords. That being said, these are much better made and break-in was relatively painless. I feel like these will last much, much longer than "normal" shoes do for me.

by fatpigbrand Feet bleeding boots
These boots made my heels bleed and busted only after 20 minutes of walk. The back of the boot digs right into my heel and on the side inside the boot rough stitch rubs my finger bone very badly. The boot lacer are way too long and boot heel is NOT sewn how its suppose to be . Its just glued and already slightly coming off and I just bought these boots 2 days ago. Another problem the size is not true. They run one size bigger . if you 11 you will need 10. Very unhappy my heels are rubbed badly so I am returning them no question asked and included pictures of my busted heels.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Toml13 Quality shoe albeit very stiff
The shoe fit true to size (EE) however unlike the boots from same vendor the leather in the shoes was extremely stiff which was not what I was looking for.
Other reviews mentioned the laces being too long, which is true and surprising that it hasn't been addressed yet
Also the tongue of the shoe has LL BEAN stamped into it. This seems quite unnecessary especially as the boots do not have this done.
I ordered expecting these to be similar to the boots, softer leather and quicker break-in and returned them as they did not meet this expectation.
This could be a great shoe for those looking for a very rugged shoe in environments requiring strong protection.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Fellwort Order half size down in EE.
If you are a trues size 12 order the 111/2. I ordered 12 and had an extra inch in the toe. I exchanged for the 111/2 and got a good fit. My complaints about the shoe is that the laces it comes with are an inch to long. Also I'm not crazy about y the LL Bean branding on the tongue. Interestingly, I ended up taking the insoles out of mine. They feel more comfortable and less clunky without the thick foam insole. I like my foot sinking a little more into the shoe with this style. Without the insole it fits a lot like my Red Wing Iron Rangers.

I was excited to get these shoes. Full grain leather and goodyear welt. Unfortunately both of the heels have come loose after only wearing them 10 times. For a shoe that costs $200 + and is made in the USA I expect better. Also, the shoe laces are way too long. They are comfortable but do run big.

These shoes are an excellent choice if I do say so myself. The laces are a tad long, but otherwise they are very serviceable.
