As another review states, this is a very thin, single layer garment. It's really a mid-weight shirt with some nice jacket touches -- the corduroy collar and cuff liners, multiple pockets, etc. make for a great layer to keep the sun off when it's cool.
The "perfect for today slim fit" is NOT slim, however. I'm 5'10", 200lb, all hanging off of wide shoulders. I usually wear a 43 or 44 suit jacket or sport coat. The shoulders on my size L are about right, but the jacket is baggy around my lower torso -- I wish it were slimmer.
In general, I have found LL Bean Signature garments to be excellent in concept, but let down a bit by details like the cut. This jacket is no exception. I'm keeping it, but I may take it to a tailor to have the sides taken in.

I had been admiring this coat online for awhile. Seeing the coat in person and trying it on, it was just what I hoped it would be, so I had to have it. I am a big guy - 6'2", 235 lbs. - and the XL fit me very well. I was concerned that it would be too tight based on the "extra slim fit" description. With my build, I do not like Bean's movement toward slim fits, in either the Signature or regular merchandise, so I was pleasantly surprised that the XL fit very well. In terms of the construction of the coat, you have to know what you are buying here. This is a thin, unlined jacket. Many shirts, e.g., the Bean Chamois shirt, are heavier than this jacket. So long as you understand that this is very lightweight, you should be fine. I find it is perfect for an evening walk when the temperature is in the 60's or so, or perhaps 50's if in the sun and not windy. This jacket, particularly the color and fit - waist length and just a slightly "fitted" - reminds me of the jacket John Wayne wore in his 1959 film, Rio Bravo. Starring as the town sheriff, he wore it each evening when he "took a turn around the town." One last thing - the buttons on the coat are beautiful. They are natural nut buttons. In summary, I highly recommend this coat. I think it is an instant classic, and will be admired for years to come.

This is a great looking jacket, however, it fits a bit on the baggy side. I'm 5'10" 165 and it's a bit loose on me. I like my clothes to have a slim fit to them though, so keep that in mind.

I love when LL bean digs up something out of the archives to reintroduce. This has such a cool, old school look to it. Keep them coming!!!
